God is— 1. the God of all comfort 2. the Father of compassion 3. the Spirit—and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!
We are— 1. The Aroma of Christ among those who are perishing 2. A letter from Christ…written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God 3. Competent ministers of a new covenant 4. Servants of His people, for His sake 5. Hard pressed on every side, but not crushed 6. Perplexed, but not in despair 7. Persecuted, but not abandoned 8. Struck down, but not destroyed 9. Not unaware of Satan's schemes 10. Being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord 11. Wasting away outwardly, yet inwardly being renewed day by day 12. Always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.
He— 1. Makes us stand firm in Christ 2. Anointed us 3. Set his seal of ownership on us 4. Put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come 5. Always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ 6. Spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him through us 7. Makes us into competent ministers of his covenant 8. Made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God 9. Delivers us from deadly perils, and will continue to deliver us
We— 1. Comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God 2. Stand firm by faith 3. Speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God 4 .Renounce secret and shameful ways 5. Do not use deception nor distort the Word of God 6. Commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God, by setting forth the truth plainly 7. Do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord 8. Fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen...we do not lose heart! 9. Say along with Paul…
I, Pastor
Noh, was born in the Kang-Seo District of the South Pyoung-Ahn
Province in what is now
known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). I lived in North Korea for
30 years with my wife, In-Sook Kim—who should be 84 years old by now--and my
two sons who would be turning 60 and 50 this year. It is to these family
members with whom I have been separated for the past 50 years that I dedicate
this letter. I long to see them just once before I die.
In 1950,
while my family and I were escaping to the South in the wake of the social
upheaveal of the 6.25 Independence Movement, we came to a point where we could retreat no
further at Sariwon in the Hwang-Hae Province, which was being bombarded heavily
by an air raid at the time. As a result, my family was separated with
overflowing tears of pain as my wife and sons headed back to our hometown in
the North while I continued south. That fateful day was December 11th,
1950; I arrived in Seoul
five days later.
In the South, I resided in
the city of Eui-Jung-Bu for 40 years before
immigrating to the United
States on August 18th, 1990. I
have been living here for 17 years now and in good health, thanks to the
protection and provision of God. But at the ripe age of 87, who can say how
many days I have left on this earth? Even more, who can know my plight and
commiserate with me as not a single day passes when I do not think about my lost loved
ones?
With God as the sole
exception, there is no one who understands my heavy heart and the suspenseful
burden it carries.
My only hope is in my U.S.
Congressmen who would come to my aid and deploy the resources necessary to achieve
reunification with my family. To this end, I am pulling for the Saemsori
Project to go well and flourish. Amen.
I write this letter to you
out of my earnest heart,
Wow it's official. The NY Knicks are not only the worst team in the NBA TALENT-WISE, they are the most immature and UNPROFESSIONAL team in all of sports. It's not hard to see why they lose so much when their attitude is so skewed and absurd!
Absurd/untruthful Quote #1: "They just wanted to embarrass us," Robinson said. "It was a slap in the face to us. As a team, as a franchise, we weren't going to let that happen. A clean, hard foul happened and after that it went down from there."
A running sleeper-hold choke around the person's neck is NOT a "clean, hard foul".
Absurd/untruthful Quote #2: "I just said to him, 'You know, you're up 20, you're up 19 with a minute and half to go, you and (Marcus) Camby really shouldn't be in the game right now," Thomas said. "We had surrendered, those guys shouldn't even be in the game at that point in time."
"They were having their way with us," Thomas said. "I think J.R. Smith had just made one dunk when he reversed and spun in the air. And I think Mardy didn't want our home crowd to see that again. So he fouled him.
You didn't want your home crowd to see you get disrespected on your own court? How about PLAYING SOME DEFENSE? Show that you deserve respect--rather, EARN that respect--from your own fans by playing better basketball (after all, that is what you get paid to do right?)
If the only way you can show "NY Pride" is to choke-tackle players (which is pretty much as bad as Carmelo's cheap shot, if not worse), that just shows how much you SUCK.
The worst thing is that the COACH Isiah freaking Thomas was saying this. How are you going to blame the other team for destroying you? That's what they're supposed to do. And how are you going to use that as a JUSTIFICATION for one of your goon players taking out one of the best players on the other team?
If you can't take the competition, just admit it. If you can't even accept the responsibility for your team's reckless actions, you clearly do not deserve to be a coach or GM in ANY league.
Isaiah Thomas is pitiful and so are the Knicks. Nate Robinson and Mardy Collins belong in the WWE. I feel bad for Knick fans.

What can I say? I appreciate 90's music because it takes me back to my childhood and all its memories. Even now, I realize just how eclectic and random(but perhaps not so random?) my experience was, moving around so many times and getting to know such a cool mix of peeps, cultures, and sub-cultures along the way... not to mention some of the most awesome geographical samplings of God's creation!
I miss those days, I cherish those days, but most of all I'm grateful for the childhood and adolesence that was mine
First, it shaped me into who I am --some say "confused" or even "faker" ...but I say "extraordinary"! All I know is...I can only be me, me, me, me, ME! --> hahaha who knows where that's from?
Second, it reveals to me all the things I used to treasure and aspire towards --and while the specificities are being sifted through by the ever-discerning mind of Christ, and becoming appropriatedand redeemed by his transforming grace, I can't help but to notice the deeper, and nonetheless universal desires that they point to. That is--those of greatness, purpose, adventure, noble glory, brotherhood-comraderie, victory, romance(?), FUN, and a-b-u-n-d-a-n-c-e. Sni!
Lastly, It serves as a reminder of how illusory and unsatisfying my life was. That is, until that beautiful and glorrrious mid-August day in Seoul six years ago. In fact, it was right around this time of the year now that I think about it! Praise God!
THIS is why I've decided to dedicate the next few entries to my very own mix of 90's jams and hits. But I'll go one step further than a mere playlist...by providing the corresponding music videos! (So as to stimulate both your eyes and ears...)
So without further ado, sit back, relax and check it out...
I-n-t-r-o-d-u-c-i-n the Top 15 Music Videos of the 90's (the ones that could be found on Youtube anyways) arranged in purely chronological order brought to you by the one-and-only, DJ APKU-Jang-One(#1) from the APKU-Jung-Dong ...Fresher-than-Will-Smith... e-LIM-inator!
very addicting chorus line...and you gotta love ODB!
#9: I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith
the ultimate middle-school dance song
...this and "Anytime" by Brian McKnight (which I was unable to find )
#10: Rosa Parks - Outkast!
Uh-huh / ba-by / uh-huh / yea-yea!.
EDIT 2: #11-15
'98, 8th grade
Shin-sa Dong, Seoul
Young-Dong Middle
#11: Love Love - Bijou
What do you get when you mix a ballad with a hip-hop/R&B beat, and smooth it out with a nice violin background? A very good song (probably one of the most addicting ones of this era)
Such a pure and happy song.
#12: I'm Your Girl - S.E.S.
S.E.S. when they first came out
a perfect mix of K-pop, hip-hop and R&B
#13: Ruby - Finkl
Finkl when they first came out
a very Autumn/Fall song
Hyoree and Yuri!
parts of this video freak me out--i.e. when the lighting is so bright the girls look albino--but the song is so good!
#14: Na Na Na - Yoo Seung Joon
probably one of my favorite Korean songs, artists, and videos of all time
right up there with Jinusean's "Gasoline"
contains every quintessential element of a Korean Drama -- fight scene, hospital scene, cheesy date scene, etc.
guest appearance by Choi Ji Woo, the Ashley Judd of Korea
How this video reminds me of Korean school:
Anyone who could make a lay-up was considered "cool" and immediately welcomed into the in-crowd
Wooden backboards with missing planks, green fish-nets, rubber basketballs made in China, and rocky, uneven "courts" which made dribbling virtually impossible (thank God they're getting better)
How kids--including myself--used to try to look gangster by tweaking the dress code (i.e. not tucking in the shirt, wearing pants that were 1 size bigger, etc.)...hahaha Gangsters in school uniforms!
#15: Honey - Park Jin Young
probably one of the purestmusicians Korea has ever seen, both in terms of natural talent and unique charisma.
features a guest appearance by the lovely Ko So Young who makes me proud to be Korean! (better looking than Hyoree and Song Hye Gyo) However, she flirts with the cheap/trashy look here (borderline?). But truly money girls don't need to do this...and so I ask, WHY?
That's all folks! I was definitely tempted to include more but tried my best to limit it to15. Feel free to add what you think is missing
