    The Latest

This is just a quick update to let y'all know what we have been up to. It's just some boring text, no pictures.

Life is full but is also wonderful! Married life keeps getting better as does our relationship with the Lord. It's awesome to see how the two come hand-in-hand.

Last month I became the campaign manager for Kelli Stargel who is running for a spot in the Florida House. Although I am the one with the official title, I couldn't do it without Jared. I'm always amazed at the knowledge tucked away in his brain.

This has added work to our schedule but has been a lot of fun and a great experience. The primary is August 26th and since there isn't a democrat running whoever takes the vote will have no contest in November. So, we have been walking the district, doing design work and mailings, puting up signs, helping with fundraisers, attending events, and anything else to help elect Kelli Stargel for District 64.

If we can find the time our goal is to get our bedroom painted and the valances made in the next two weeks. We have all the materials purchased we just need to get the work done. I'll post pictures once the project is completed.

I've also spent quite a bit of time on our garden. It has been a real learning experience. Growing vegetables in sand and heat is quite different than the black dirt and mild temperatures of Nebraska. But here you also get a second try.  I will plant again in August. I've also been able to pick strawberries, blueberries (Jared picked these with me!), and black-eyed peas. Thanks to Craigs List we have a freezer to hold all the produce.

That's all for now...keep enjoying the wonderful life God has provided!

    It's Done!

Three weeks ago my chiropractor started me on a detox diet. Before starting I took the questionaire, if you scored 40 or higher you needed to detox...I scored 87.  So started on Wednesday, March 26th. Jared, being the sweet and supportive husband that he is, joined me.  He didn't have to pay the money (well he paid mine) and take the pills but he limited himself to the "approved" foods which were chicken, fish, brown rice, boiled eggs, vegetables, and fruit. It was tough but well worth it! I lost close to 17 pounds and Jared lost 16.

The doctor said that when we finished we were to go to a nice restaurant and eat whatever we wanted to and then go back on a healthy diet the next day. So, we went to Cheesecake Factory - our favorite place.  We weren't hungry when we first got to Brandon. (I had gone into work with Jared since the restaurant was on the way home, we didn't want to make a second trip. So I spent the day at Panera, since they have free wireless I could work.) Anyway, we weren't hungry so we went to see a movie first. Once we got our food, we were both amazed at how little we could eat. We walked around the mall for a bit afterward to work it off. Here are some pictures from our fun night...well, the eating part anyway.

Ok, here's a little riddle for all you animal lovers out there. (Hint: This animal is now in our house.)

Simple, yet profound and challenging. Whose eyes are these?

In other news, after almost a year and a half of unplanned yet unexcusable absence I broke down and started blogging on my personal Xanga again. It even has a new face. :) In celebration of the return, I've posted a little something special (which will also help resolve this riddle :). Visit www.xanga.com/jaredyates for the big picture.
