Name: Jess Country: United States State: Nebraska Metro: Lincoln Birthday: 1/10/1986 Gender: Female
Interests: Photography Expertise: Hi! My name is Jess! Photography is just a hobby of mine, but lately I've been tossing around the idea of possibly, after I graduate with the two degrees I'm currently pursuing, taking a few photography classes. So, I've created this xanga to post some of my photos, good and bad. Just so you know, everything I know about photography is whatever I've managed to teach myself and learn through talking with all my 4-H judges. So, obviously, there's lots to learn, but I am very open to any constructive criticism! Also, if you would like any explanations of any of the photos, please let me know and I'll be happy to tell you about them! So please, enjoy browsing and have at it!!
Thanks a bunch, and Enjoy! ~Jess Industry: Art

At The Shopping Mall
Great topic! However, I must say that finding a photo that might fit the category has been near impossible! haha!
This building was an extremely unique one in Chinatown in NYC--the building had originated as a bank, but now stands as a Payless Shoe store:

| Darn Digital!I got back my first rolls of film after returning to a film camera and discovered that I've become a worse photographer. Very few of the photos were in focus, and none had good lighting. All these years of self-steadying, self-focusing and automatic flash has made me completely forget everything I ever learned about the actual art of photography. Sure, I'll always remember basic composition and the simple stuff--but I officially feel as though I've been reduced to the common, everyday tourist pointing and clicking her way to pretty pictures. Not to say, of course, that the common, everyday tourists are lowly types that should be shunned or that I was ever anywhere close to a professional or anything like that; but I would like to think that I used to know something about photography as an art form and now it's all gone.
Sigh...I guess I'll just have to find time for a photography class.
| This week's subject is from Ruth_from_Ohio:
Your Guilty Pleasure
I 've actually many guilty pleasures, but here are two of my tops: skiing & music.

| More Catching UpOkay, so I know these are both really horrible pictures quality-wise, but they're what I had...and they fit the categories...lol.
Enjoy.

| Back Again...Catching UpHey Photo Friends! I've obviously been on hiatus once again for a few weeks trying to salvage my school career, which still hasn't much improved, but I can say my camera situation has! A fellow photographer and friend recently heard of my unfortunate camera-losing incident and told me she had an old 35mm SLR just sitting at home collecting dust that I could borrow. So, I now have a camera!! yay!! Except that I have to re-learn how to be a little more selective with my photos in order to not waste film...I think that might be the hardest part...but I have a camera!! Yay!
Now, as for the challenge, I'm going to post not only this week's entry, but all those I've missed (plus one from a LONG time ago, because I have a great photo for it, and I wasn't a challenger when it was presented). Sorry that I'm late for this week!
1. MAGAZINE COVER
When I saw this subject, I thought, "What an awesome topic!" And the entries I've looked at have been really fantastic. I'm afraid I'm still a poor college student without the money for photoshop though, so I'm just gonna have to stick with the simple--haha! So, here's my entry. The magazine would be titled:
Music Notes Magazine

For all the remaining entries, I will not give descriptions--just the subject and photo. If you want more info, feel free to ask! :)
2. FRAMING

3. OLD BUILDINGS
(Okay, so I've got a few of these--this is my favorite thing to photograph...)

4. MAILBOXES

Thus ends today's entries. I didn't quite get through all the categories, so perhaps i'll add a category to catch up with each post for the next few weeks. Anywho, have a good day!
