Happy Free Hug and Air Day!!

As most of you probably already know, it is Free Hug Day today!!

Well, in addition to wishing you all many happy, free, embraces I would like to go the extra mile and offer free air to breathe while you hug your friends and strangers. While you may see people waiting patiently to give you a free hug, what you need to remember is that they might not necessarily be handing out free air as well. So, just to be on the safe side, I am allowing every one to breathe WITHOUT CHARGE. But only for today. Take advantage of this as well as free hugs. Don't let today's special offers pass you by. Tomorrow, when you have to sell your soul for a hug or a meager portion of oxygen, you will think back on today with longing.

So here's to free, already freely available "products". Have a hippie happy day.

Summer is really almost over. It's not kidding this time. I have been anxiously awaiting this time since the end of May and now it is really here. I am very glad school is about to start because I have missed it greatly. However, I didn't realize how much I like freedom and friends. Summer has spoiled me.

I am ready to feel my brain being slowly fried from hours of studying, the clicking of the keys frantically composing the last page of a paper due in one hour, checking facebook when I should be reading, drinking coffee and pretending to study, walking across campus, walking up flights of stairs with a huge bag over my shoulder, the smell of the classroom, the awkwardness of the first day when no one knows each other and is completely silent, professor jokes, and walking half a mile to my car because I hate the bus. Ah yes. It does sound grand.

"Dear Student: <3

Congratulations!  Your essay and report on your college activities have won for you a Travel/Lodging Scholarship to attend Eagle Forum Collegians Summit in Washington, DC"

So I just got a very happy e-mail.

It's the next best thing to a D.C. internship: an all expense paid trip to our nations capital to attend the Eagle Forum Collegiate Summit conference. I am pretty stoked. I went last year and LOVED it but I wasn't sure they would give me a scholarship two years in a row. Another officer from College Republicans got the scholarship and another officer might be going too so I get to have one maybe two friends come along. What fun! I can't wait.

So I am just now recovering from a lovely bacterial infection of unknown origins. The doctor basically told me I was a weird a strange child and he didn't know why I would humiliate him so by not providing normal symptoms of normal diseases/illnesses. Of course, I couldn't have just ANY illness. It had to be special. He said it MIGHT be my appendix, so keep an eye out for pain in the lower stomach area. Thanks Doc. So I have been in bed for the past two days barely able to move. Waiting for my appendix to burst. It's been a real party. But, good news the illness has been brief and my appendix is still in tact.

I have several house-sitting jobs lined up for the summer that I am pretty excited about. I am pretty sure house-sitting is the easiest job ever. Houses don't normally misbehave and the one I will be working in has a PUPPY. A big, one year-old lab, but I can't wait to meet him and play with him all day.

I still like summer even if I do miss school a teensy weensy bit.

Let's hang out and be friends!

Reading what I am not forced to read and animated mice <3...

Summer is really just too glorious. I have been reading a ton and am currently on my third book of the summer, Count of Monte Cristo- the unabridged version. I bought the abridged version of the book only to find out that it was not complete when I got home. I promptly bought the full copy and am now reading it. It is incredible so far. I have something similar to religious beliefs against reading abridged versions of books. I have done it once in my life but I was young and didn't know the trick being pulled on me. The book was the Pilgrim's Progress. I have not read an abridged book since. Talk about sacrilege.

It is so wonderful to be able to hang out with friends without classes or exams to get in the way. I feel like a spoiled brat. Buuut I am enjoying it extremely. :)

Oh, and Disneyworld was so much fun! I met Mickey (again), kissed Chip (as in Chip 'n Dale) on the nose upon his mimed request, and hugged Friar Tuck. I also fell several stories in a broken elevator in the Tower of Terror, traveled through space in Space Mountain, and watched fireworks explode over Cinderella's castle. I also bought a Tinkerbell coffee mug and Minnie Mouse mug,...........aaaaaand maybe I bought a book called "How to be President."

Bye.

Summer is a time of...glee...weee <3

Finals week feels like two glorious years ago.  I am still not quite adjusted to having no books to read or papers, poems, or short stories, required of me.  Finals week wasn't exactly fun, but I would have been okay with a month or so more of regular school.  I love college.

I have decided to take German next semester. I have already fulfilled my language requirement with three semesters of latin but I want to learn a language that is not dead. Soooo I am taking German...as an elective. Because I am crazy and don't know what I am getting myself into. I think I will be glad I did it, though.

I plan on reading several books this summer. Among them: Pride and Prejudice (which I have already started) and The Count of Monte Cristo.  I would say I plan on reading a hundred books but I am working on being realistic.  For instance, last summer I brought home almost every book I owned.  This year, I only brought home about twenty.  There is no way I will be able to read twenty books this summer, but it is better than bringing home one hundred.

We leave for DisneyWorld in two days. I'm pretty excited about going to the happiest place on earth.

It's nice going to bed at night without the sound of traffic above my head.
