Obama praise seems like racism to me
Ok first for those who care, I am sorry I have been away. My wife and I are expecting and she has had some issues so we had to be in the hospital for a couple of days. As you can imagine, though defeating Barack Obama is an important issue to me, the health of my wife and future child is more important.
This blog will be on Barack Obama and his racist supporters. I am not taking about the “white haters” like Jeremiah Wright, though there are plenty of them out there. No my issue is with those supporters who are racist against black people. I could be wrong, as is sometimes the case (I am not a liberal so I can admit that) but I believe that some of the white elite that are supporting Obama are racists. I heard an interview with Ted Danson’s wife Mary Steenburgen who was formerly a Hillary supporter. She said that though she really wanted to vote for Hillary, she would now support Obama and commented on how he is mesmerizing (my word) with this oratorical skills. I have heard these comments from many white people who “get a thrill up their leg” (Chris Matthews) when he speaks, and other Hollywood celebrities who make similar comments. In fact that is about the only issue I can get out of anyone about why they should vote for him. Why do these celebrities and other white folks go on and on about how impressive he is in his speaking abilities? Because they cannot believe a black man can speak like that. I am serious. What makes him different than any other politician out there? John McCain is not a good speaker, Bush is obviously not a good speaker, and the Democrats have not had a great orator since…Bill Clinton? Well ok let’s say Clinton was a good speaker, which I think he was, how many people used as their reason for voting for him that they just could not get enough of the way the man talked? I do not remember any, of course I am sure there are a few, but nowhere near what there is for Obama. That is because Clinton actually gave ideas and solutions to issues, he did not just travel around saying he COULD fix it, he told us how (I do not agree with the man on most issues, but he knows how to run for President). Anyway, I digress…If those celebrities come out and say “wow it is so refreshing to see a black man speak so eloquently” then they are branded racists, but take out the phrase “black man” and insert “presidential candidate” and suddenly they are just passionate supporters. They are not racist against all black people of course, just those who are not as educated and well spoken as Barack Obama. Ask them to name black people that they know are good speakers, they will name those rich and successful actors, broadcasters, and TV personalities, but can they name one from the everyday world? No, because they are out of touch with the everyday world. I am not amazed by Obama’s speaking ability because 1) I work with several black men/women that speak very well and 2) do not agree that he is all the good of a speaker. He does well with a prepared speech or with a teleprompter, but ask him a question he has not prepared for and he stammers and we hear a lot of “uh…um…” and the body language suddenly changes. Now, I know there are black people out there who do not speak eloquently, just as there are white, asian, Arabic, Hispanic, etc…that do not. I think it would be more important to be impressed by a man’s record and his actions, than to define him by how well he reads or memorizes a speech. I guarantee that if I go out on the street and ask ten Obama supporters why they are voting for Obama that at least 8 of them, possibly all, will say something about how good a speaker he is, or the vague answer of how he will “save” our country. Though I doubt any of them could tell me how. Obama is no John Kennedy (that is good and bad) and comparisons to him are very, very premature and ignorant. I find myself listening to Obama and then when he is finished I ask the TV (yes I talk to the TV) “So what are you actually going to do and how are you going to do it?” I hear we have hope, and how he will bring back hope to this nation, that Americans can be proud of their nation (as if we weren’t already), and that he will clean up this country. You think he can’t? Well then starts the chant, yes we can. Yes we can…What? I know we CAN, but I would like to know HOW. Is that too much to ask? Oh and by the way, can the how this week be the same as the how next week? If his how answers are the same as his what answers, they are subject to change on a weekly basis.

First of all, he flip flops so much I have a hard time knowing if HE knows what he is talking about! Second, I think it is very patronizing of his white celebrity supporters to be pandering THAT much. He isn't an amazing orator, he is just like all of the politicians, knows how to read a speech.....although I will say bush is not very well spoken, and clinton was, and very charismatic as well.....I know you have covered those things. As you said, these people are praising him on things that DON'T make a president! That's probably the only thing they can say good about him.....who knows.....like I said he seems a little confused himself as to what would make a good president, so maybe he works hard on the speaking to mask all of his insufficiencies.
I think so many of his supporters are just so enamored because he is black that they don't even hear what he says (which, like you said, is usually nothing). We don't need a "rockstar" for president-we need a man who will put our country back together.
What day are you expecting?
I think it depends on what your definition of a good speaker is. Because I don't think he's a good speaker when it comes to phonetics, all the umm uhh umms. Edwards in my opinion was the best speaker the party has had in recent history, he was made for the stump. He owned in South Carolina when I was there. Anyways. Some people might define a good speaker as someone who can energize or deliver the point across, in which case Obama can do. If 8/10 say he is a good speaker, they probably mean that.
I went to the local Obama headquarters in Cincinnati one day to drop something off a couple weeks ago, and the place was crowded with pepole going in and out. If i were to ask 5 of them, I'm sure 4 would say they do it because he's inspired them to get involved in their community. They are unpaid and they go everyday to register voters just because someone showed leadership that made them believe again. I look for diff. qualities, but hell you can't buy inspiration so I'm slightly impressed.
