  • Hair accessories

I am very certain that every single girl that lives in this modern world has or had  hair accessories, some just a hair tie, some head bands, clips, bobby pins. oh and hair extensions is also considered as a hair accessory

I started using hair accessories since I was a little girl, my mom would tie ribbons on my pony tail. Sometimes a head band for school, and use bobby pins to clip the loose end up. And maybe that is the reason why, mom’s love having daughter because they can dress their little girls up in beautiful accessories.

Crinkle Headband Hair Elastics - Black 4.5cm Black Hair Pins

    Black Mesh Bun Net

    Bun Net

You are definitely going to laugh at me. I used to wear them for school for my tap-dancing classes and my mom would pin it up in a million booby pins!

Black Bendies Glittery Butterfly Set - Blue

    Black bendies

I used a lot of these black bendies too; they came in very handy when I was in school. Holds the hair up tightly! Guarantee.

Don’t you agree with me, that the little butterfly bendies are so cute on little girls.

You know, being in an all girl’s school back in Singapore, we were only allowed to use black or White hair tie, ribbons, and bobby pins. Like the one, shown above.

No other colours allowed. How boring was that!

But even with the very limited colour choice, I remember my school mates having all this beautiful accessories on their hair. We would ask each other “Where did you get that hair tie from?” or “your black lace ribbons is so pretty!” “I want one!”

Having said that, even up to today, we still ask our girl-friends  where they get their accessories from.

And maybe that is the reason why, I love my accessories. Because I started young! ;)

Antique Gilt Butterfly Beak Clip - Smoky Green Crystal Butterfly Beak Clips

    Break clips

Did you remember these break clips; they were in fashion at one stage. But I never once used them, however for some strange reason i got given a lot of them, and most of my break clips had butterflies on them. I loved butterflies  when i was younger!

6cm Rectangular Barrettes - Gold Large Austrian Crystal Barrette

    Hair Barrettes

I've always love this hair barrette, but i can never have them on me because my hair is too thick!

I reckon, they look very elegant on the head. especially when you have your hair, half up and half down

Naturals Shiny Hair Elastics - Pink

    Hair Elastic

These are a must, if you have long hair like me. Oh man, they go everywhere with you...even when your hair is let down for the day. Just carry one along with you, you never know. You might need them in emergency or someone else might ask if you have one.

    Trust me

Priceline and most supermarkets sells them, if you are interested. The most you would pay is, 5bucks?

    Hairy Elastics Tinsel Hair Elastics

NOO now this is one horrible hair tie. It’s only good if you were in a dance and needed it as a “dance accessory” other than that, please don’t tell me you have worn this out.

They are called the “Hairy Elastic”.

    Purple Velvet Scrunchie

    Velvet Scrunchie

Oh no...i have to admit. I have worn these before when i was a little girl, i took Mom's srunchie a lot and tied it around my bun. They used to hold them up without the bobby pins. Great!

My oh my seem like I’ve worn and tried lots of hair accessories. Nevertheless I still stick to my bobby pins and black elastic. They never let me down.

I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did. It actually made me reflect of my younger days when I was little and had my hair tie in piggy ties and ribbons on me. I can't have them now...because I’m older.

But when I have little girls of mine one day, I’m sure I’ll be dressing them up in beautiful hair accessories.

  • Winter accessories

A nice winter accessory to keep our heads warm are berets, I personally think it's very chic and feminine to have them. Plus it’s the new in thing for me.

Yet, I have to admit you have to get it right so it sits properly and your fringe/hair has to fall in place to make a beret work for you.

I have to say after watching gossip girl’s episodes it got me hooked on buying more beret, hats, scarves and other accessories for winter.

Yes, it can get a bit troublesome to dress up during the cold winter nights. Just thinking of how cold it is out there, makes you not want to go out. Am I right?

But if you make an effort, dressing up in winter can be a whole new thing for all of us girls.

If you're a girl that loves to dress up and have a good time, then I don’t see a problem there.

    Felt Beret

Last week, i went into Sportsgirl and got a pair that look very similar to the grey hat, only cost me $14.95

Really, you just need a couple of essential items in your closet to look fabulous in.

For an example, a trench coat, jeans, a top, scraves, warm boots and a beret and out of the door you go.

At the moment, my new favourite is a long cardi and I never leave home without my scarves. It keeps my neck warm, try it if you haven’t.

All you need for winter is a set of warm trench coats. Worth investing, and the mid year sale are just around the corner.

     unique clothing, niche clothing

I don't know about you girls, but there's something about this blazer that i actually like and might get it if i see one in Melbourne.

Here's an outfit, i would wear for a night's out.

Have fun dressing up girls and remember to keep warm, I know I will be.

    Movie Review

    Shutter

It didn’t click in my mind at first while I was watching it but as the movie progressed it hit me that I’d seen this somewhere before.

I have to admit it was scary but not as scary as the original which was in Thai or was it Japanese?

I seem to remember it as Thai but in the American version the director was Japanese so it got me confused.

I didn’t want to spoil it for Alina (Alfred’s little sister)  at first but poor girl, she was covering herself with the pillows (Mind you, I was doing the same) so when she asked me “Will they die?” “What is happening?” I said if this was the same movie I watched, then this would happen next.

For those that are thinking of watching it, all I have to say is if you have watched  Japanese horror films before then you’d have figure out that there would be a creepy Japanese girl, shadows appearing here and there and several awkward flashbacks.

However, this movie got me interested because of the spirit photos. A couple of months back, my cousin and wife came back to Perth for a visit from Sydney. This time he bought his wife to Busselton for a visit, whilst doing so he snapped up a couple of photos on his professional camera and then noticed a white circle in the background. He came back and searched it up and learns those were wandering spirits and told the family about it. Now that is scary! =X

    The Happening

Last weekend, our group of friends had mussels at Conca and decided to watch ‘The Happening” after dinner at Carousel.

Initially, I thought yea why not, looks interesting it’s about a virus spreading etc but omg I was wrong. It was terrible! People were killing themselves with a pencil, a lawn mower and other stupid ways of dying.

Personally the movie was crap. I do not recommend anyone to pay 15bucks to watch, if you really want to see it. I say, wait for a couple of month’s time as Blockbuster would have them in store.

The movie was really random. I didn’t enjoy it one bit, it was trying to imply that the trees, plants and grass will one day join forces and kill us all. Urm…

For those that have seen it, tell me what you think?

    Tony Roma’s Restaurant

When you hear Tony Roma’s, you’re instantly dream of Ribs! And when I heard, Perth was opening Tony Roma’s I was thrilled. I mean, hello. Perth is kind of back dated but Tony Roma’s is actually opening here.

We’re not that far behind after all huh.

Excited about having my ribs, the girls booked to have dinner there last night. 18th June 2008

Let me just tell you my experience, a little word of warning.

DO NOT KEEP YOUR HOPES HIGH, WHEN DINING THERE!

( Because i did. And was let right down. Disappointment!)

They had the worst service. How long does a waitress take to notice a group of girls…finally, she came to take our orders after 20mins?

That went smooth, meals came and we totally enjoyed the ribs. Big Tick

Oh drinks – that took ages for them to take our order too!

Wait, our meals came, we’re almost done with our meals. BUT where’s our drinks? I’m so thirsty.

In between sharing meals with the girls, I tried a piece of chicken that my girl-friend ordered. And OMG, it was RAW! How could they serve, RAW chicken!

    It was just too gross!

7 of us looked around for the nearest waitress or waiter to complain. Then decided to tell the head waiter, well I thiought he was since he was the only one dressed smartly.

He took note and said, I’ll take it off the bill. Urm…okay? What if she gets a bad food poisoning?

(Ah that reminds me, I better check with her how she is doing.)

Carrying along now; our drinks still haven't arrived.

Checked with the waiter, and we knew what he was going to say. “It wasn’t in the system, can you repeat your order again.” "Yea, sure!”

Drinks finally arrived, thankfully it was yummy. I had tutti futti, it was smooth! At least I enjoyed it.

We still had room for dessert, ( the dessert looked so good ) we placed our orders and had the waiting game all over again. 10-15mins passed.

    And guess what happened?

Waitress came out and said “I think the machine chewed up the order…so we didn’t get it! But I can make it for you now?”

NO. don’t bother! We’re going now.

I don't know what to say. But that was my experinece....if you decide to try them out, let me know how it went.

I'm going to give them a second chance, but maybe not too soon. We'll see =)

Did you remember the first time you got your ears pierce? I first got my ears pierced back in Pre-Primary school and I think I missed school just for it.

Mom made sure, I didn’t touch them as I had the tendency to lose the back of it.   They were simple and most probably cheap. I would have one pair on and not have to take it off for a few months at a time.

The only reason I kept them on without touching it too often was, I was just too afraid that the skin would close and I would have to go through the pain once again.

Then I grew up and at the age of 14 got my second piecing done and realized that there were so many pretty and wider range of earrings out there that I stopped buying studs not literally stop, but just started buying more dangly earrings to match my outfits for different occasions.

As the years passed, I got my third piercing done (it has closed now) it just look unfeminine to have so many on the ears. And In recent years, I’ve just been using studs back again. I live in them; however there are a couple of studs that I just wouldn’t touch.

    biker-jewelry/E-SK-036small.jpg

The ones I try to avoid are the ones that  look tacky and just look a tad rusty. The only ones I think are potentially cute are Chanel / Oroton earrings -not very sure why. Maybe because i have them? =)girly.

What about you, what do you wear?

Here's a couple of stud earrings, that looks pretty.

I know, stud earrings aren't the nicest option at times. But too me, they're just look too pretty and easy to wear and how can you not resist?

    Hello there.

Winter is here, and a new pair of boots would come in handy as i'll be travelling to Melbourne in a couple of weeks time.

My girlfriends and i have been hunting & hunting for my perfect pair of boots and you wouldn't believe it

I found my prefect pair of brown boots last night

It looks very similar to the above picture

    I’m one happy person now.

You don’t understand how hard it has been to find one!

Having said that, I was browsing through some website and found this particular boot. No, it isn't my type. But the name of it. Got me interested.

     It's called "Jillian" with a "J" . Amazing.

  • On the 21st May 2008 was the day i could have taken over the world (not literally it’s just a gesture of speech)

Turning a year older, and having lots of surprises, giggles plus joy to share with everyone. Is just amazing!

My day actually turned out very well. verrrry well indeed!

I actually rock up to work, did the usual this and that. (Truthfully, I was seriously contemplating whether to come to work. Thankfully I did tho)

As i arrived I spoke to a couple of co-workers around me, but as soon as one particular co-worker named Kylie arrived to work. She wished me “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” and Boy, from that moment the day changed 360 degree.

The people around me started wishing me, happy birthday. Then kylie insisted on buying me morning tea so we took a walk to grab a bite  at Gloria jeans and she bought me a hot chocolate with a mud slice cake.

After we got back from morning tea, we started chatting away and  a dude walked in with flowers in his hands! And gave them to me…I was in a “jaw dropping moment” and the “awwwwww moment” I opened the card up, and it was from Hieu! I rang her straight away!

    42

Half and hour later, another bunch of flowers arrived. This time it was from Alfred!

No wonder, he rang me in the morning…asking if I was at work. Sneaky boy!

     44

By then, everyone surrounding me was saying how lucky I was. And another co-worker named Eileen insisted that she too take me out for lunch and again I felt so bad. I kept saying No…but she just wouldn’t let me go. So off we went, for an early lunch in Subiaco to a restaurant called “Gavrino”

    43

    n672127086_639392_4673[1]

If you live in Perth, If you have the time you should try this restaurant out. The owners of the restaurant are very friendly and they serve up  huge portion, I say “sharing” is the key word. Visit their website, www.gavino.com.au

So in other words, I didn’t do much work =) i had a perfectly good excuse

    IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!

Celebrating my birthday with my girl-friends - 17th May 2008

I had a girly birthday celebration this year with my girlfriends.

We had dinner at the Nicholson bar&grill in Canning vale and omg…the portions were huge! Louisa & I couldn’t finish it even though we shared!

    11

After dinner, the girls headed back to my house and thanks to Alfred. He made us “vodka jelly shot”

    26

and that sure kept us entertained till 11:30 and off we headed to the clubs.

    39

check out the birthday cake, Joyleen baked it! so sweet of her, right! =)

    16

    15

Boy, was it a good weekend!

Thanks to all you girls, that made it special! The gifts were wonderful and shocking!
