1/8/07 edit: you will notice that bit by bit the Christmas music is being replaced ...hope
you enjoy the new as well as you did the old...jim

I know that Christmas-tide is past;
that time of gifts is gone
We've celebrated Jesus' birth
and watched salvation's dawn.

SmallishClan06 021

The gifts and trees are put away
the creche is in the crate.
Our view, like Janus' gaze, beholds
the new year at the gate.

SmallishClan06 011

But still a fragrance lingers on
rekindling that light.
A longing glance the manger t'ward
relives the holy night.

..so just a few days let me have
to nurse the joy within;
the joy that came when one child's birth

proclaimed the death of sin.

And let me for a few hours more
the old glad tidings ring;
Come join me, friend, recall the day
the babe was born our King.

"Finally, dear family, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovable, whatever is of good repute--if there is any virtue or anything deemed worthy of praise--(continue to) nurture and treasure the thought of these things."
Philippians, 4:8, jimmish heartfelt translation

Hard to let go of that association and memory of the holiday,huh? Wish we could be like Dickens said, to keep the spirit of Christmas in heart all year long (I'm probably misquoting it, but you get my drift). It's what Scrooge said Christmas morning, I think. I like your "translation" of the verse:) To nurture and treasure the thought of these things...not just to think on them, but to nurture the thought. I like that! God bless you all through this year, dear brother! in Him, Gerrie

What a beautiful poem. I must admit I had to look up Janus. He's an intriguing character. I like the way you wove him into the work. Nicely done, sir.

Good poem and matching pictures that are neat too...ryc....don't you love it when the xanga-meister eats your entries...that happens to me every now and then, glad you were able to remember what you were saying...sometimes I forget what I had just typed!

I agree with youi, "Beyond The Sea" is a good classic song by BD.

Be Blessed,

Mike

RYC: Well, I'm not into football, but Dennis's daughter had the game on after we finished seeing the parade, and I kinda felt sorry for Michigan; USC kinda took over. As for the phrase about Mary, yes, I've always been intrigued about that. She must have reflected on all the things in her and Jesus' life, especially when he died and then rose. I know sometimes I'm in awe of one of my children when they do something really well...Mary must have been in awe of Jesus many times. God bless you this year, Jim, all year long! in Him, Gerrie

Hi Jim,

A belated Happy New Year to you.  I recall how I use to feel when I had to return to work after having a few short days off for Christmas at the Blues.  It's different for me now that I am retired.  I guess I feel a little guilty for retiring so much earlier than most guys it's usually not something I talk about much. Is it Biblical to even think of retiring or not?  Ahh, I'm not too sure I even want to know the answer to that one.  LOL  But it's nice not to have to get up and go to work for a change.

I like your layout here. It looks really good.  I also changed mine around, but I'm not too sure I'm going to keep it or not.  I don't see anything that I really like well enough and I've always got leaving Xanga on my mind so I'm not sure how much more I can take of ...well that's another subject entirely.  Just putting a plug in your ear I guess.  Either way, thank you for being friendly enough to stop by when you can, because I know you can't keep up with all of your subscriptions, because even I can't do that and I don't work.  What is it that you do anyway?  I forgot to look before commenting, because when I comment, I never know for sure what I am going to say.  LOL Maybe that's a bad habit.  I never know these days how anyone feels, it seems that the men don't talk much about "feelings" so it always makes me feel so out of it.  I just babble on and on like some ladies I know.  LOL  OH, God, help me..let me get off this line of thinking...It's amazing how entertaining I keep myself at times.  So God bless you and stop by whenever you can and I'll do the same.  Be blessed!!!

Joe

ryc ~ I cried with the love of Christ that came through your words ~ such beautiful encouragement and passion ~ thank you, thank you, thank you ~ I too wish you lived closer my brother because that is exactly the kind of christian love that is not ministered to me here ~ I pray that your prayers for me come to life and that I will finally understand His true love toward me ~ I know He loves me no matter what (in my head) but getting that sunk so very deeply into my heart, despite my actions, is very hard to do ~ and when I feel so driven to anger and to build more walls ~ it is a very hard (and lonely) place to be ~ thank you so much for your openness and compassion ~ I would love to talk more sometime when you are not so incredibly burdened/busy! I do understand that!

 Thanks for droppin by my site! RYC That had to have been the worst game I have seen ND play. I grew up less than 2 miles from the campus, so I have seen my fair share of games on TV and in person.  Lynette and I both are in the Restaurant business, which working a double is a weekly if not daily occurance. Have a great week and thanks again for stopping by. Peace!
