  • National Geographic...you've come a long way baby.

Okay, maybe not, but I was channel surfing last night.  I've noticed they've had more than one channel.  Cool.  But last night they had some program on called NatGeo Music

Seriously, what the US needs is more ways to discover world music.  First was some concert of this spanish group.  But it was definitely multicultural.  They aired concert footage spliced with interviews.  But they never would say their band name.  I was getting antsy!  Finally! For a split second they flashed some words.  Some were covered up by the subtitling!  But thru some surfing I found them.  Ojos de Brujo.

Then came world music videos.  One after another.  Senegal, India, Brazil...I was flyin across the world at the speed of soundZ.  Beautiful.

  • Jimmiwin will be going to Hawaii in august..finally!  ...with camera and laptop I might add.  For this, I am happy for you.

Last time I talked to mom she stressed..."Awww jeem, you ARE coming out in august right?!"  I'd been putting it off cuz flights are hella expensive.  800 bucks you bastards.  And I'd been lookin but couldn't really find any good deals.  Booked last night for 760.

Mom left a voicemail on my phone a couple days ago.  I shoulda recorded it and posted it for you.

"Jeeem, dis mom.  You know auntie at nail shop?  She go to yoga.  Somthing like 'Bingring'.  I wonder if dat what you do.  Bingring... dat's   B...I...K...R...A...M  ....Bingring."

    She's a wildcard.

  • If you remember, last month, I had Indian Food night.  So last Thursday, I had people over again and had Spanish Night.  One of my favorite restaurants in town is Firefly, a tapas house.  Usually I'll go there for sangria, but I had a hankerin to make it myself.  So Spanish Night was excuse to make some!  Like 4 gallons!  Awesome.

I wanted to try making paella too.  I never tried makin it before.  Got two 16 inch paella pans and I went to town!  One with just seafood (lobster, mussels, shrimp, clams and scallops) and one with all that and bacon and chicken.

Other items on the menu were green olive tepenade with a garlic aoli, spinach with pine nuts, bacon wrapped asparagus, and fresh gazpacho.  All homemade.

It was like two parties that night.  The first crew came, and chilled kickback style.  The hookah was in effect.  And just when it was winding down, there was a knock at the door.  Low and behold, 10 or 12 hungry boy and girls.  My boy and his crew arrived with bottles of jack and bacardi in hand.  Vegas hipsters don't roll anywhere before 10pm I suppose.  Round two with the food.  It looked like everyone was most pleased.

    Next month..Mediterranean.

  • Wow, it's been a while.

Well, I'm still here.  I haven't updated because I really want to update with pics, but I haven't process any pics lately.  I am waiting for some software.  I need to take pics of 3 paintings I've done.  I also need to process a couple pics from last Thursday's Spanish dinner I cooked.  Paella, gazpacho, and sangria night.  Remember the Indian dinner party I hosted last month?  Well this one was spanish.  I made about 3 gallons of sangria and cooked to huge dishes of paella.  The yoga friends and others rolled thru.  The sangira flowed and hookah was smoked.  Fun stuff.  Then when it seemed to be winding down, a friend of mine showed up with about 10 friends.  With bottles of rum and jack in tow.  Talk about a parties second wind.  It was like two parties in the same night.

Friday was a cabana at the hard rock hotel's pool for Steel Pulse.  I was a lil in recoup mode but it was all good. Just chillaxed and listened to reggae.

So I'm officially taking on a partnership role in a clothing line.  Bikram yoga clothing, so it's all athletic skin tight lycra apparel for hot room yoga. The bikram instructor has all the connections and I am behind the scenes with the organization.  Slow start but so far so good.

  • I missed ladytron...again. Wtf?! Were they the first to go on?  How long was their set? Two songs? Motherfeathers!  Thievery was good as always. More reggae than previous shows I noticed.  Mandalay Bay's pool/beach venue is nice.  Better than Hard Rock's and Red Rock's pool venues.  Didn't stay for all of Gnarls Barkley.

So it's the 23rd  i need to make up 2 days of bikram yoga if I want to do 30 in 30 days. Meh.  I haven't lost a lot of weight since june 1st but I have toned up a little.  I haven't really toned down on my eating.  I can tell I'm in better shape tho already.  Which means, yes..jimmiwin is getting cockier.  Which means you're saying one of two things..."What?!  Jimmiwin! how can this be? How could you get even more conceited?!"  or  "What?!  Jimmiwin!  I thought you were a being of light!  How could you ever possess such a sub enlightened quality such as ego?!"

Yes...it's true.  I'm a work in progress.  ...but I have cut down on my hookah smoking.

So I'm learning my way around the macbook pro.  Interesting.  The last time I navigated for a long period of time thru an apple I think was around 1994 at the old library at unlv.  No joke.  Sure I've seen them and been looking over the shoulder while others worked, but yeah, that was about it.  I'm learning my way around openoffice.org  too.  Interesting.  But I'll still have to stick with the standard that is cs3.  Which I'll be getting within the week.

Ah no matter how old Crystal Method's Community Service is.  "Every facet, every department of your mind is to be programmed by you.  And unless you assume your rightful responsibility and begin to program your own mind, the world will program it for you." (even tho it is Evil 9 huh).
