| Computer Games aren't that bad.I remember when I was younger, and even now, my mom would always tell me. "Stop playing computer games! Computer games aren't going to get you a job."
I sometimes listened to her, and did other things as well. I sang in choir, I played hand bells, I hiked with Boy Scouts, and I even danced a little.
Yet, I am always drawn back to what used to be the little beige pizza box that we called a computer. What did I do? I played games. Chip's Challenge, Ski Free, Gizmos and Gadgets, and minesweeper. It all started with Windows 3.11. I learned to type DOS commands so that I could play Sim City or Sim Farm. That was on my mom's Toshiba Satellite laptop, where everything came on floppy disks. I learned Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, and I even learned to program in Qbasic, making a little shop where I could buy legos in a virtual world. I crashed the laptop for the first time, and we took it to my Grandma's place in San Francisco where we were meeting up for family dinner. I watched my uncle fix it, and that began my journey into computer repair.
Funny thing is, in a Windows dominated world, my first experience with GUI interface lies with the humble macintosh. Yet my stance still stands and I hate them all the more now. But, at least it allowed me to experience the trackball, and forever cement my hate into them. It also introduced me to the hard plastic encased floppy disks that games came on when I played them at the museum across the GG bridge.
Alas, all good things must come to an end, or do they? My mom's laptop still runs, though physically the laptop is ready to decay into plastic dust. We moved on to our first real desktop. It ran something that I thought was simply amazing. Windows '95. By far the most sophisticated piece of equipment I ever encountered. Running on a speedy 133Mhz and a grand total of 16MB of ram, I was tearing through my favorite games with better graphics than I ever thought possible. Windows 95 turned out not to be as great as we thought, and we got an upgrade to windows 98, second edition. I learned to love 98, though I eventually got tired of it.
Around this time I thought that I would get into robotics, so as an early starter course I invested money from a $2000 scholarship into buying our family's first dell packaged with Windows ME and lego Mindstorms. It was my hope to get a jumpstart into basic robotics. That ended up going nowhere though, and I began to play new 3D games on my computer, starting with the one packaged with the Dell, MDK2. I did begin to learn HTML though, and began studying to take my A+ certification in order to get a jumpstart into computer repair at 13 years old. Once again that fell through, but I learned a lot about hexidecimals and how we still needed to know DOS even though it was beginning to become defunct starting with Windows ME.
My next computer I built. I went for cheapness for this round: AMD duron, 1.6Ghz 1GB of ram, ATI 9600GT 128MB. I got it so I could play half-life 2. This computer lasted me a long time. It wasn't until 2008 when I finally decommissioned this computer so that I could build my new one. We will get to that later.
Soon after this I felt comfortable with computer hardware so I built my aunt a computer on the cheap so she could do basic word documents and emails.
We moved on in our family, purchasing a dell desktop and a laptop. Not much to say here, except that they caused more problems than they were worth. I continued to play games and I formed a gaming clan which has given me a lot of experience in web design, graphics, computer hardware, and social networking.
Now I have a quadcore computer and a top notch system which I built myself. I even run vista, infamous for problems that crop up. But I look at my computer, and I find that there are no problems, and I wonder what these so called professionals have done to their computers. But I don't look down on them, I totally agree that Vista is not much of an operating system.
- Clans. Because of them I have gotten jobs I never would have that I could. Because of gaming and clans I learned HTML, learned to repair and build computers, troubleshoot, write tutorials, use content management systems and film basic videos. Who would have thought that this was what jobs are looking for? Because of gaming I entered the world of 3d animation, and explored some of the limitless possibilities out there.
- This is a message to aspiring mothers and dedicated gamers. Okay, a disclaimer first. Obviously if all you do is game, you may find yourself at a dead end. But, parents, think about this. By gaming, your children can gain valuable experience and technical expertise that may land them a job in the future. The important thing is application. For me, gaming has allowed me to hold jobs that not only pay well, but allowed me to learn more about my field of research.
So although I considered it, and even stayed away from games an entire year, it looks like I won't be stopping any time soon. Because if I get my next job, I have to beat my bosses in PS3 and XBOX 360 games and I don't want to get rusty.

| The Holocaust was real. If offends you to hear, too bad. Truth often hurts because our pride doesn't want us to think that we could possibly be dead wrong.

| Dreamstate: Story #2Story #2 Last night I dreamt that I had to sleep outside for some reason. Chih and and Jon Sha were there too. For some reason I went over to Jon Sha's place, which happened to be in six college apprently. They were some new structures that haven't been built yet, but they didn't look any better than barracks for second years. I saw Jon Chan and told him to go swimming with me--I had brought my swim stuff with me for some reason. Then we all went to breakfast. I couldn't decide on what to get, but someone got fish soup in a cup. Eventually I got some food and we ate. Meanwhile I found myself at some sort of market and I was looking at shoes (they looked like colorful converses) with Tiff Kimm. She wanted to get one and so did I. We bought the shoes, but when we starting buying it I could see a progress bar appear and showed me that it would take two hours for the shoes to come into my possession. Tiff Kimm suddenly cancelled her order and shouted that she had to go to the dentist. I told her that since the progress bar was going we might as well stay and let it finish. I asked the guy if he had one in her size, then did the same for me. It turned out that they didn't have my size though. The guy, who happened to be Mexican, started dipping her shoes in copper paint. (I had chosen copper paint to be the color that we were going to get from the selections) After dipping it completly in paint he suddenly threw it into something to melt it. I looked on shocked. He pulled it out and started stretching it, pulling it inside out and it came out to be a boot. He started working the leather and started stringing it with thin leather strips. As he was doing so, he told tiff kimm to blow on it. As she did that I looked around and remarked that there was all this cheap (cheap as in quality, AND in price) stuff that could be used as furniture in a College person's home. Eventually it came to a point where I found myself out on the street where we had been eating breakfast before. Tiff Kimm was no longer there. It was me Chih, and Sha. Chih decided he really needed to do his laundry, so he headed across the street to do laundry at a coin-op laundrymat. Meanwhile, Sha had to go to the bathroom so he left. I was laying on the sidewalk with a black cat sleeping next to me. Eventually I got it and told the cat to go away. I realized that there may be fleas so I walked across the street and told Chih to watch my stuff while I went to the bathroom. I could feel the fleas hopping on my skin--so gross! I went to a shower and saw this shampoo that was specially for jkilling fleas, I started rubbing it on my legs, trying to get rid of the itchy feeling.
Then I woke up, I still felt a little itchy from the imaginary fleas, but at least they no longer feel like they are hopping on my legs and arms. Though my hair kinda tickles my neck now...kinda like a flea hopping...
Aghh I woke up too early. This was this morning's dream. Weird.
