I've decided to start a new blog.  I'll still be using xanga for commenting and reading, but I won't be posting here anymore.

My new blog is at www.jkent.info/wordpress

I was taking a look at some of my recent posts, and noticed that I haven't given an 'update' for quite a while, so I thought I'd write up a quick one tonight.  God has been really good to me-- really, really good!

I believe the last few weeks have been another transitional 'spring time' in my life.  I've been really thankful for many things: for the interaction and encouragement I've received from Chris and the many others I see on a daily basis, for the teaching in the Word that I've received at the local church, for the beautiful weather and flowers that are springing up everywhere, for God's strengthening hand through my workdays, and for the childlike joy He has put in my heart.

It's been good to hear from my family and hear the recent update on my twin siblings' progression through debate this year.  They've been steadily improving, and sound like they've got an excellent case.  I'm expecting that they'll 'break' and move onto regionals at the next tournament.  It's good to hear them talk about the lessons that they're learning from it all, and the study habits that are being formed.  =D

I'm hoping to visit home sometime in the middle/end of May-- I still need to decide on the dates.  It'll be great to see my beloved Virginia in the height of spring, and catch up with all of my younger siblings that are growing up so fast!   It'll also be great to see my parents and grandparents, the farm, my church, and the many elements that made up many of my years of transitioning into adulthood.  I was thinking of these things during the sermon this morning which was largely about our walk towards maturity in the faith.  (Ephesians 4:14)

Lately, I've been enjoying my new camera.  I did a good bit of research and settled on a Canon SD700 IS.  I think it will be a handy tool for helping me capture the many moments God has blessed me with lately.   I'm looking forward to a lot of future use with it, and hope to post some more pictures sometime soon.  =D

I've actually been advancing in a few ways technologically lately; however, I still don't have a laptop, and still enjoy 'insulting' my friends with Macs.  :P  During the internship I upgraded some of the main components in my computer; last month I got a second LCD monitor for a dual-monitor setup, and tonight I got a laser mouse and fairly nice keyboard.  Like any investment I make, I'm hoping that the extra productivity from these investments will help offset the costs.  We'll have to see.  =D

I really appreciate your prayers.  One prayer request that I'd ask would be that God would help me to develop a special diligence during these last days of college-- and that I'd be able to quickly bring my studies to a close.

walking in the joy of Christ,
jason

Wonderful God
Wonderful God--I adore You!
Fill my heart as I sing!
Give me words I know are due.
And take them as an offering.

REFRAIN:
Lord, you are so very worthy!
By your love I am preserved.
Awestruck by your endless mercy,
King of kings, you came to serve!

I'm pondering the deeds you've done,
Learning more of Your great plan,
And yearning more to know the Son.
Son of God, yet Son of Man.

When You come to take me there,
Vast love awake'ning this dead heart!
Rejoicings ringing in the air.
Nothing e'er can make us part!

The Ascension of Christ

A thought from The Ascension of Christ, one of Charles Spurgeon's many sermons.

"Reflect yet again that from the hour when our Lord left it, this world has lost all charms to us. If he were in it, there were no spot in the universe which would hold us with stronger ties; but since he has gone up he draws us upward from it. The flower is gone from the garden, the first ripe fruit is gathered. Earth's crown has lost its brightest jewel, the star is gone from the night, the dew is exhaled from the morning, the sun is eclipsed at noon...

Had he been here we should have regarded much more the things which are visible, but now our hearts are taken up with the things which are not seen, but which are eternal."

"Gratitude exalts in the past benefits of God and says to faith, 'Embrace more of these benefits for the future, so that my happy work of looking back on God's deliverance may continue'" ~ John Piper
