The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For? (Purpose Driven Life)
By Rick Warren

If you could be invisible for one day, what would you do?

Seriously, what would you do?

Would you streak and walk around in the nude?
Would you pretend to be a ghost and scare people to death?
Would you pull a number of pranks on people?
Would you eavesdrop on conversations that wouldn't be spoken if you were around?
Would you steal things you normally couldn't have?
Would you videotape yourself showering?
Would you watch Aaron Gerard change his clothes?

I've asked this to a few friends and heard a number of answers that made me laugh.  I've paraphrased some of them above.

What's my point behind all of this you ask?

Look closely at the options I've listed above.  Everything I listed shows ways of using the day for OUR own gain, and for pleasure.  They are all things we wouldn't normally do if we were visible.  Unless your odd.

It's like our everyday lives in that we try to hide the bad things so that no one can see them.  We want to keep what we don't want others to see "invisible".  However, it's important to remember that God still sees all we do.  Even if we can convince others and ourselves that we are hiding nothing, we still cannot fool God.

This is not the point I wish to make.

When asked this question, rarely do people speak of doing good on their "day off".  When people do good things, they want to be be noticed for them.  They want a pat on the back and a congratulations.  It's human nature.  Therefore, they do good deeds in full view for all to see, and boast of them.  Yet, the Bible commands us to do the opposite.  We should do good things when no one can see us.  In that way, God will be proud.  We should always put God's approval before man's approval.

With perhaps a new perspective, I ask you again:

If you could be invisible for one day, what would you do?

"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them.  If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.  So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men.  I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.  But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."  Matthew 6:1-4

Things currently running laps in my head:

I miss WSS........so it's a good thing I'm going today!  Carlisle retreat WOOT WOOT!  Maybe the peace will help me get things in order......or maybe I'll get by a snake.  That would suck.

I downloaded Braveheart last night.  Braveheart = Great Movie.  Braveheart in French = oops.

I've been doing a lot of devotions lately......but I'm still lacking on praying.  Got to work on that.

Food = awesome gift from God.  I think I'm going to go get some now........

hi everyone!  ...... yes, i know your surprised but it really is me!  I apoligize for shocking y'all into heart attacks, but you can come back to life now.  You can't admire how cool I am if your dead.  lol  Little joke there for everybody who isn't on my wisdom level.  lol  Little joke again.  I crack myself up!  Anyways, so I know all y'all are dying to know where I've been and what I've seen in the past year.  Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I'm too lazy to write it all.  However, I'm feeling generous today, so I'll give you my past year in a nutshell........ or one sentence.  Ready......

set.......

GO!

Christmas - it was alright, Bad Grades - I made them funny (seriously, they were bad, and I really did make lemonade out of that lemon), Senior skip day - I got sick at Chuckie Cheese's, Girlfriend - self explanatory, Eagle Scout - yeah, I had to work for that one, Graduation - Had to work for that one too, My 18th birthday - Had a party that no one came too :(  (they all realized that they weren't worthy to be in my presence!), White Sulphur Springs - all summer, White Sulphur Springs (again) - for two weeks by myself along with a crazy Ukranian, and a crazy Virginian, No girlfriend - again self explanatory, and that brings us to now.  By now, I mean working two jobs (YMCA and Alibies Pub) and no longer having any remote resembelence to a social life.  But it's cool, cause I'm going to work at the Spring Thursday for two weeks!  WOO HOO!  Yay!  A vacation from work to go work!  Can't think of anything I'd rather be doing!  lol  The funny thing, I'm serious!  Anyways, that's my past year in a sentence....... And, because, I'm feeling extra super generous, I'll give you a brief summary of what to expect from me in the spring.  HACC.  There you go.  I know I said it would be brief, but I lied.  Sorry.  My apoligies.  Anyways, I need to go now and do some stuff that I need to do.  Like watch paint dry.  See everybody in a year!

Let's see. I haven't updated in a while. Ummm... Thanksgiving break is going by way too fast! Helped Strobel fix his project after some people screwed up the nails by putting them in wrong places..cough cough Arcocha. Anyway, spent Tuesday night there fixing his project, talking to Lauren, playing halo 2, and watching internet videos. I have some random tune in my head. Let's see what else, I'm going down with my dad tomorrow morning at 3 o'clock in the morning to DC. That'll be great. We're going to go run at sun rise around the monuments and then work out in the pentagon gym. He's then got some work to do, and then we'll eat lunch and tour DC. We'll spend the night in his apartment and come back Saturday. Oh yeah, I ran the Turkey trot this morning, and now my legs hurt. Ow... Anyway, I also had shakespeare troupe Tuesday for 4 hours. I left early for a west point thing, but still. We had pizza though. Convinced Maggie and Sarah to get pineapple, go me! Oh and then watched the Monty Python and the Meaning of Life movie at Pearson's house last night with Laura Henson. Anyway, I still need to see the Harry Potter movie. So yeah, it's short this time, but I need to get some sleep if I'm getting up at 3. Oh yeah, and I'm trying to email all the WSS people this weekend so yeah. Wait and you'll hear from me. Maybe... If I don't get to lazy. Anyway, peace out!
