Work @ FARGO

Busy, super busy & tired. Now I know how it feels to be a manager at least in my industry. When problem arises, your name will be first called. I’ve been working in a printing industry for 5months and 26 days and 10 hours and 42minutes and 10seconds. The company I’m working for does remanufacturing Web-Press machines. What is a web-press. Here look at the picture. This is small-medium size press machine. Web machine are separated into a few section the front part is a splicer(You see a guy putting the roll of paper there), then go to infeed, units, dryer(largest part of the system), chill, folder, sheeter. I guess that's the part for the whole system.

Web-press is printing machines. Not your Epson printer at home, but printing machines that prints magazine, books, flyers, newspaper etc. This small machine you see prints about 25000 -35000 Impression per hour, depending on the quality of the paper you use. Impression is one piece of paper containing 8 pictures on each side. All machines here duplex on the fly. Web press machines uses continuous paper while the other type of machine is called the sheet-fed uses paper that are already shaped. Okay that is enough education about printing industry for now.

Right now, I’m at Fargo, North Dakota. North of the four famous great president faces, south of Manitoba, etc etc. The weather here sucks badly. It snows practically for 7 months throughout the year. The snow goes as high as a trailer to a 2WD car. Driving a car on the road is like snowboarding on the snow. The temperature goes from -36 Farenheit to -10F. Imagine that. lolz. I asked the people what they do throughout the year. They said they eat, sleep and make out. ^_^’  It’s so cold that they don’t get of their house at all. This is my fourth time coming to Fargo and my first project was on the ink keys control. I had to hack into this old hag inking system and curi their communication protocol and implement it into a new digital “close loop color” system. Took me 3 months to understand what are the codes I curi. But it was fun, reading hex, binaries, and decimals codes. Decrypting pattern etc etc. Like the movie “Beautiful Mind” hehe. Working for Graphic Innovators(the company I’m working at) was fun for the first 4 months, and they had my job title as a Research Engineer. Come to think of it what kind of research engineer? Yikesss.. Problem is here.

Now, I’m at Fargo doing electrically installation and MECHANICALLY tuning. I hate mechanical work… Use too much of my legs and hands energy. Why am I even doing mechanical work? Because the manager told me that this is your stepping-stone to be a “manager”, go Fargo make the client Happy. So, what does it takes to make the client happy? Solve all the problems la… When machine stop, “JOHNNYYY why like this, why like that, what you did”. Heck like I did anything, I’m like 10 meters away from the press what can I do to stop it. Ish. Anyway, I always tell them, oh small problem only, then I stand there start synap-ing my brain tracking where is the problem. Don’t know, also have to pretend to know. At least do something to make the damn machine run then tell them ah “RESOLvED” (I know this is a dangerous/unethical way of engineering but time = money to them)

Oh well, that’s it for today. Need to work by 730am tomorrow. Good Night to you and you. :)
