So, I finally have a picture of me and my host family! Left to right: my abuela, my host mom, me (;)), and Juan, who comes over for lunch everyday, and I'm not entirely sure who he is, but I know he's not her boyfriend, so I think he's a brother or some other kind of relative who works in the area but lives farther away.
I'm going to be home this friday. It feels sooooo strange to think about. And I'm really sad, now, to go home. But I'll see you all in less than a week!
Love!
For good measure, here also is a picture of a turkey: | | |
| Madrid was wetdad, please don't worry about me. i'm an adult(or at least almost one) and completely capable of making responsible decisions. i am very much aware of the dangerous side, probably much, much more than most, which you know, of what i'm doing. believe me. please don't read this blog and immediately assume the worst about me.

| Orejas!can we note, for a second, how eerily similar this author's last name is to my own first name? *ripoffartist*
i got a new hole in my head.

it was a very last minute decision: andrea was planning(for a while) to get one of her own(not like mine), and i sort of did it to encourage her, and sort of cuz it was cheap, and i thought it'd be cool. cool it may be, but hurt like a BITCH it most definitely is. granted, i've only had it for about a day now, but moving my head too quickly makes it hurt. SMILING makes it hurt. i'm just really hoping it'll heal, if not soon, then at least eventually so i can smile properly again.
going home in just over a month!!
doctor who tonight!!! yeeeeeaaaayssss!!
picture!!

| CAN'T......STOP.....THE ITCHI'VE DECIDED TO DO THIS ENTIRE ENTRY IN CAPS. THE LARGE LETTERS INTRIGUE ME.
I'M NOT SHOUTING. FYI.
I GOT BACK FROM MALAGA, WHERE I SPENT....2/3 OF MY SPRING BREAK GETTING SUNBURNED WITH MORGAN, KIM, AND KATIE, 3 AVANCADOS. NOW I ITCH. LIKE CRAZY. ME AND MORGAN SPENT A FEW DAYS BEFORE THAT HITTING UP THE PLACES IN BARCELONA WE HADN'T GOTTEN TO GO TO BEFORE. THAT WAS GOOD FUN. THEN WE TOOK AN OVERNIGHT TRAIN DOWN TO MALAGA TO JOIN THE OTHER TWO GIRLS. (A SIDE NOTE: IF YOU CAN EVER AVOID IT, DON'T, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TAKE AN OVERNIGHT TRAIN. I'M JUST GOING TO LEAVE IT AT THAT FOR NOW). THEN A BUS BACK TO DENIA LAST NIGHT. AGAIN, NOT FUN. I WAS CRAMMED IN NEXT TO THIS KID WITH BODY ODOR WHO DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF "PERSONAL SPACE" FOR MORE THAN 3/4 OF THE TRIP. THEN THE TWO SEATS ACROSS THE AISLE OPENED UP, SO I MOVED OVER THERE, BUT BY THEN IT WAS TOO LATE, I WAS ALREADY ALL ANGRY AND HATED EVERYONE ON THE BUS.
WE GO BACK TO SCHOOL TOMORROW. I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT TO THINK OF THAT, REALLY. I'M CERTAINLY NOT EXCITED, BUT IT'S OUR LAST MONTH, AND WE GO TO MADRID IN A FEW WEEKS, WHICH, DESPITE HISTORICALLY BEING THE SEAT OF POWER OF SPAIN'S DICTATORS, I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT GOING TO. PLUS MY B-DAY'S THIS MONTH. I'M TURNING 21, AND EVEN THOUGH I'VE BEEN DRINKING SINCE I GOT HERE, I'M LEGAL IN EUROPE, AFTER ALL, I'M STILL REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IT. I'M ALSO HOPING TO GO TO PARIS THAT WEEKEND TO VISIT SOMEONE WHO, AGAIN HOPEFULLY, WILL BE THERE.
THAT'S ABOUT IT, I GUESS. THIS LITTLE BIT LOOKS LIKE A LOT MORE WHEN IT'S IN ALL CAPS.
CHEERS.

| it's official: fallas is the craziest(not to mention least enviornmentally friendly) holiday ever in the world.
let me explain: every year, the spanish spend thousands of euros, sometimes millions, on each falla(which are the things in my last post), spend months making them out of wood and styrofoam and paint them in beautiful, detailed colour, spend weeks putting together the parts they've already constructed somewhere else, then, in one night, they burn them all to the ground.
the whole evening is absolute insanity. i don't know how many of you(three people who still read this) have ever burned styrofoam(which you shouldn't do, by the way. i'm pretty sure there's a hole in the ozone layer above spain.), but it gets insanely hot. and when i say insanely, i mean INSANELY. we were a good 50 feet away from this one we watched, and we were all running away from it because the heat was doing that thing where it feels like your skin is gonna shrink off your skull a la raiders of the lost ark.
pics!
burning....

getting sprayed by the firemen. fortunately, we had the foresite to stand under a balcony, so we were like the only people not to get wet
the big one! we waited like 2 1/2 hours to watch this baby burn...and it was totally worth it!

running from the crazy heat of the burning.
that's all, i guess. i'm getting ready for "spring break" which i'm not really looking forward to, for aforementioned reasons. but i'm going to barcelona tomorrow for a few days with morgan. so that'll be fun, at least.
cheers! | | |
