| The Beginning of The End of My Life...EMT-B Module 1 Test Grade: 96 (I'm awesome) This has marked the end of my social life for the next 4 months (though it is not really like I had one anyway). I did have to turn down swing dance lessons because of my class schedule (I don't have any rhythm anyway but it would have been fun to make a fool of myself.) This has also signaled the end of my on-line World of Warcraft life as well. I will definitely not be playing nearly as much due to class, studying and work. Also this is hopefully the beginning of the end of my time at Chick-Fil-A. It's been real. It's been fun (well sometimes). I don't think I can say it has been real fun, but it is a job. "It's not supposed to be fun. That's why they call it work." - John Hopkins ~Damien

| Taken Home As some of you know I am a rather zealous Keith Green supporter. I love his music and how he was so sold-out to Jesus. I love th fact that he wouldn't charge people for the music. These rose-colored glasses that I had been viewing Keith's life and ministry though have recently been cracked if not shattered. For several months I have been trading music with my friend Tracy. I would give him Project 86 and Neal Morse and he would loan me Kansas and Michael Ward. I had purchased Keith Green : The Live Experience Special Edition CD/DVD set. Being that he was a Matthew Ward fan I assumed he was also a Keith Green fan and would be interested in such a set. I was wrong. He graciously turned me down and proceeded to dismantle my saintly view of Keith. He told me that it is the opinion of certain people that Keith Green over a period of 3 months did more damage to the missions movement than anyone else in history. While Keith was a great evangelist, he change the focus of his concert from 1979-1981. He shifted to guilt-tripping audiences into going to the missions field. I have a recording of him saying, "If you are not commanded to stay, you are commanded to go." For Keith the issue was not whether or not a Christian was commanded to go to the field but whether they were commanded to stay. As a result during the early 80's missions agencies saw a huge influx of people many of whom were not spiritually or emotionally prepared for missions work. Years of previous work in some areas were destroyed by these people who were not called but guilt-tripped into missions. There were apparently even professors at CBC (Columbia Bible College) telling Keith that he needed to stop or he would have to face the consequences. I don't want to diminish Keith life or ministry or music, but he would not hear any of the Godly people around him because he believe that the message he was bring concerning missions was what God wanted him to say. There is a positive result that came out of the entire situation. As a result of the large amount of failure surround that missions movement spurred by Keith's messages and concerts, missions organizations began implementing much stricter screening processes to prevent such a thing from ever happening again. Am I saying that God took Keith home because of the damage he was doing to missions? Maybe or maybe not. I cannnot know the mind of God in regards to this. My conversion though has made me realize that those people we put up on pedestals, even Godly ones, are not perfect. It was easy for me to idolize Keith and his fervor because I was not able to ever see him live. I only have CD's and a biography written by his wife. A DVD about Keith's life is not going to show the negative aspects or negative results of his words or actions because it is designed to glorify him. I will not stop listen to Keith's music though this conversation has given me a neew perspective on Keith and his ministry.

| Music RecommendationsNew (or at least fairly new): Starfield - I Will Go Leeland - The Opposite Way Hawk Nelson - Hawk Nelson Is My Friend Justin McRoberts - Deconstructions (though I have not had a chance to order it yet I have listened to a few tack on his website and like what I've heard) Paul Alan - Drive It Home (Again have only heard 2 tracks off his myspace page but I will buy the former Nouveaux vocalist's new album) Bride - Skin for Skin (Classic Bride...good stuff) Jon Foreman - Fall and Winter E.P. 's (packaged together one of my current favorites from the front man for Switchfoot. These two discs really make me salivate for the Spring and Summer E.P.'s.) Demon Hunter - Storm The Gate of Hell (It's Demon Hunter doing what they do best) Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura (Progressive Rock based on the life of Martin Luther complete with disclaimer about Luther's Antisemitism) Brave Saint Saturn - Anti-Meridian (Sure it doesn't release until June but it's Brave Saint Saturn. For those who don't know Five Iron Frenzy vocalist Reese Roper started the band as a side project to release songs not suitable for Five Iron Frenzy's ska style. It's like Five Iron without the horns and happiness. If you don't know of Five Iron Frenzy email me write me or call me and I will get you Five Iron Frenzy MP3's.) Thy Will Be Done - Was And Is To Come (Death Metal is Good) Juno - Movie Soundtrack (Sure it's anti-bush and anti-war, which i'm only partially uncomfortable with but it is a darn good soundtrack Rob Rock - Holy Hell (classic Heavy Metal. Great Stuff!) Megadeth - United Abominations (It's classic Megadeth littered with Biblical imagery since Dave Mustane has become a Christian. The previous album the System Has Failed is also great.) Stryper - Murder By Pride (Also not released yet but it's Stryper!) Lost Dogs - The Lost Cabin and the Mystery Trees (Haven't listen to it as much as I would have liked but Terry, Derry, Mike, and Steve have done it again though I still miss Gene's vocals and song writing The Choir - Oh How The Mighty Have Fallen (The Choir's stellar follow-up to Flap Your Wings. It may not be better than Flap Your Wings, but it is just as good)
Old: (this stuff is new to me or I finally got Cd/Cd-R copies of old tapes I had): AD - Reconstructions AD - State of Art AD - Seeds Of Change AD - Prime Mover (AD is the Christian Prog. Rock band of Kerry Livgren of Kansas from back in the 80's. Some of the greatest prog rock ever.) Sanctified Glory Mountain Revival Family - The 50 Year Reunion (Horrible southern gospel at its best. Sure it was a joke but I still can't believe songs like If Your Hair Is Too Long and King James Version are public domain and not originally written as joke)
If Your Hair's Too Long A rich young ruler came one day To ask about the narrow way But his hair was long and he couldn't be saved The preacher looked at him through tears And said the problem's on your ears If your hair's too long there's sin in your heart If your hair's on your ears, there's sin in your heart Get it cut today and make a new start You'll live a life of fear and dread With that tangled mess upon your head If your hairs too long there's sin in your heart My friend if you will enter there You'll not go there with your long hair If your hair's too long, there's sin in your heart They'll be hell behind with those I fear Who wear their hair upon their ears If your hair's too long there's sin in your heart
