  • Coming to a Close

I know, I've been falling behind. School has been getting hectic, what with registration, tests, mondo papers and figuring out summer classes, oh, did someone say Humanities tour? I'm looking forward to the summer, and I'm not looking forward to the summer at the same time. I'm looking forward to it because I need to earn some money to a) pay back my parents and b) pay off the Humanities tour for next summer. So, needless to say, it's gonna be crazy. I'm not looking forward to summer because a) I'm gonna be away from my girlfriend and my close friends and b) because I'm taking summer courses. Not terribly exciting. I hope it will go by quickly so I can get back to Milligan in a hurry. I get to move in on the 14th of August, and chances are, I'll be helping people move in. I'm kind of excited to get here ahead of everyone while its quiet up here and get settled, while catching up with old friends and the like. If any of y'all reading this are Comm majors, I'm one of your peer mentors. So look out. I'm kidding.

I need to study some more. I'm out.
    Until later,

  • Caught up

Wow, its been a while. Sorry for the delay... school's been crazy. I discovered that I'm a sophomore, that I can graduate a semester or two early, that I really enjoy my major, and that humanities can become very encompassing. School since easter break has been in hyper mode, it seems. I've been studying like crazy, counting down to the end of the semester. I'm looking to become more involved in the church here that I call home, and I'm super excited. I want to serve there, get to know the people better, and grow closer to the people in it. One more humanities exam and I'll be done. I'm excited. I just need to finish out strong. I really don't have too much to say, except that humanities requires a lot of studying.

    Until later,

  • Easter '08

Easter break is quickly coming to a close here for me. I'm still in the good ole' Queen City, soon to be heading back to Milligan. For those who don't know, the Queen City is Charlotte, NC. After visiting with my girlfriend's family, which is quickly becoming my second family, I don't feel so bad for not being able to go home for Easter. I would if it weren't over nine hours away. I love Milligan and the relationships and friendships that are formed with people. The fact that there's always someone willing to take you home with them when you can't make it home yourself is really comforting. Summer break is quickly closing in, and I'm STILL not sure what I'm doing. I'm still looking to intern somewhere in Johnson City, but I don't know just yet what God has in store. I'm going to mirror Christine's thought to close on, changing it slightly. Love those around you. You never know when their ticket is pulled.

    God bless,
    Jason

  • A Week After the Return

So, I'm finally settled back into life here at Milligan. Its not been easy, coming off of a week that consisted of relatively nothing, procrastination and overall laziness. It was fun, but this week hasn't been easy. Why are humanities tests always scheduled after a break? Its just such a bad idea... its almost as though they want us to fail. That and I have a New Testament quiz in oh, say 30 minutes or so? Its going to be fun. The plus to all of this is that today marks the start of the weekend! Weekends are nice... they're like scaled down, mini-spring breaks all over again... only here.

One thing I love is the connections to internships and the like here. So many businesses have roots in Milligan that it helps to be a Milligan student when applying for internships. I'm not saying its a guarantee, but it is helpful. I guess I'll see just how helpful soon, when I start hearing back about internships. I'm really trying to stay in Johnson City over the summer and work up here, closer to my friends, than back in Florida. Its also going to save me a lot of moving stuff, to say the least.

I really should look over my New Testament material.

    Until later,
    Jason

  • Spring Break

So, I'm back in Florida. I've never appreciated the warm humidity of Florida until I experienced winter in Tennessee. I mean, I like Tennessee more than I like Florida, but the fact that Florida's weather is generally the same is better than Tennessee's warm one day, storming the next and then snowing after that all, and to top it all off, it'll be warm again!

Spring break has been great. I'm at home with my girlfriend, and we're enjoying the warm weather. I've never really appreciated the beach as much as I have now. I like being able to lounge on the shore and simply do nothing but waste time. Its totally awesome. I like getting crispy on the beach, and then later enjoying a star-filled night back home. Its lovely. Unfortunately, like spring break, this weather doesn't last forever.

I'm not looking forward to going back to school. I mean, I like Milligan and love the people there, but I'm not looking forward to a) discovering my test scores in New Testament, and b) taking the monster Humanities test next week. Oh well, I'll live. Somehow I know that humanities will somehow be influential in my life, and I guess I'd have to admit that the class is at least interesting and I've learned a lot more in my one year of 'real' college than I've learned in my two-three years dual-enrolled.

    Until later,
    Jason
