| more summer ramblingsFirst and foremost I have to say... WHOO HOO! my semester is finally over. After a crazy finals week: writing 30 pages in 3 days, and 2 final projects...
I am finally done my spring semester and am x 10,000,000...
My classmates kept saying how the 2 years flew by... but to me this last semester felt like it would never end. But it finally is and I am super duper excited for the summer and also for my internship year...
hmm.. what else... I felt like I should update since i'm done with school and have all this free time now even though I don't have very much to say.... and I dont even know who reads this anymore... but anyways...
There is something about bbqs and being outside in the summer that seems to just fit perfectly with me. I can see the change in season.. from spring in summer... the green green trees... long lines at Ritas, the creamery, and Brewsters...and even that unwanted sticky humid air...
no matter what anyone says... I love DE and being on the east during this time of season change. It makes me wonder if I would be able to live off the east coast...
I got to go to a memorial day picnic today and was running around the grass, playing sports and eating hotdogs and bulgogi... it made me feel 20 years younger... I do not know if I will still feel this way tomorrow morning with my sore limbs... but it's a good uncomplicated feeling...
weeell that's all I have in my brain right now... sooo good night people! =D

| another kid updateSo I've realized that ever since I entered this grad school psych program aaall my entires have been about interesting little kids who say or do weird and funny things. I was reviewing my old xanga entries and I saw that I used to think other things were weird and interesting....
I guess this is what happens when you start working in a school.... anywaays.. for those who are interested.. I got my internship for next year! That was my good news.. =D
Besides that... my life has been revolving around school once again... things are getting close to the end.. and I am visualizing myself crossing the finishline... actually daydreaming about it... that I don't wanna think about actually getting to that point. My summer plans are starting to get set... and it's gonna be a traveling summer.... I'll have to post pictures of where i'm gonna be goin.
Hmm.. well to end.. I leave you with another funny kid update...
I was in a first grade classroom and all the students were in a circle reading the book they had written about what their future career was gonna be... and this one little girl started reading her story... about how she wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up. She was like.. Fashion designers wear tanktops and skirts and capris. I can either make walmart shoes or gucci purses. And she had a picture of a walmart and a picture of a gucci purse.
I dont really understand the walmart shoes... but who knows what gucci is at age 6???
There was this other 1st grader who said "seriously" after everything... he'd be like.. army men are brave... seriously guys... I'm serious.... hahahaa... he is a funny little kid... he got in trouble the other day for punching this other kid on the bus because he was picking on his sister... and when the principal confronted him about what happened all he kept saying was... "he was gonna pulverize my sister!...he was gonna pulverize her!"....
hahaaa! |

| the cutest boy on the planet!I am in looove with the cutest boy on the planet.
This new kid that I'm working with seriously has gotta be the cutest kid on the planet. He gave me 3 hugs in the first 20 minutes that I met him and worked with him. And he's not one of those bratty kids who know they're cute and just want to milk it. He's this 1st grader with Asperger's syndrome... which for those of you who don't know is on the on the autism spectrum, like a higher functioning autism kid.. so he has lots of challenges.. but it's amazing to see how much he has progressed...
I was reading his background and it's really really cool to see how the family support that he's gotten has really made a huge impact on the progress he's made. He spent his first years in a Russian orphanage and was supposedly maltreated... like social isolation.. and lack of stimulation... and then was adopted by this really amazing family.. who's done everything in their power to give him the support he needs.
I began to think about how awesome this family is. Not only adopting a child who needed a family... but adopting a kid with a disability. And then I began thinking about what this kid's life would have been like if he had not been adopted.... it's a pretty cool thing to see God's hands working in people's lives.. it makes me remember and believe that God is truly in control for our good....

| motivation! new ramblings for xanga!aah! why is it soo hard to overcome laziness??...
I made a to do list today... it's approximately 30 items long... and there are NO checks next to them...
number one priority is to clean my room... which looks like it was hit by a tornado/hurricane/earthquake....that was listed number 1.. actually writing in xanga wasn't listed at all... and yet here I am.. writing in xanga procrastinating instead of being productive... anywaaays...
I went snowboarding this weekend...and had suuuch a good time.. it's weird though... my arms are the most sore.... ??? weird right?...
Lastly, I have to say... little kids are awesome! they're so funny...
I was observing this preschool class... and the teacher asked the class to name some fruits... and the usual apple, orange, grapes... came up.. then this little chinese girl raised her hand.. and was like meatballs.... her teacher was like no ashley meatballs are not a fruit.. then the teacher asked her to name a vegetable.. and she was like.. meatballs?... her teacher again corrected her... finally the teacher was like.. ashley name a meat.... as we all waited in anticipation... little ashley responded...... meatballs!! hahahahaa..
til next time.... =D |

| SNOW DAY!hellooo xanga! wats up ppl!?
so it's been a while since I last updated and since then things have been just peachy for me... I'm even enjoying my classes.. which is a miracle.. since I'm dying to be done with school. I'm taking this child neuropsychology class and have been learning some really interesting stuff... lobotomies..using icepicks.. to whisk your brain through your eyesockets.... the localization of the brain and its corresponding functions.... i'll have to keep posting all the cool things I'm learning.. like the man who thought his wife was a hat....and his visual agnosia...
anyways.. besides that I had a SNOWDAY! which was awesome.. it totally felt like I was in elementary school again... with that rush of anticipation.. getting up early to hear on the radio.. to see if classes were cancelled...and the celebration you would do when you heard those words... _____ school district is closed for the day! snowdays are great!...
something I learned this week.. while working in the school system.. is that teachers/school staff are just as bad as students in hoping for a snowday... they're checking the internet during the school day like 20 times to see and hope for a bad snow storm....I had to laugh out loud when I witnessed this...
I guess you never get old for snowdays... I dont think I ever will. I have to say it was one of the most beautiful sights Ive ever seen.. wednesday morning .. the sun was rising... lighting up the sky all those colors.. and the trees and branches iced around... i tried to take a picture but it didn't quite capture that feeling of awe... as if God painted this masterpiece for me to see... juust beautiful!
well I hope you all enjoyed your snowday! wherever you were! =D til next time... |
