Please!! Blood Type O+ Needed!!

My beloved pastor, Matt and his wife, Sally recently welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Nathaniel, into the world.  He was born three months prematurely and against all humanly odds, he's doing great!  However, he is in need of blood donations as soon as possible.

So, if you're in the NJ area and are willing to donate blood, it would be deeply deeply appreciated.  If you have O+ blood and are able (see min. requirements below) and willing to donate, please contact me!!!

In order to donate,  you must meet certain minimum requirements:

1. Have an acceptable hemoglobin level
2. Weigh over 110 pounds
3. No surgical procedures within the last 6 months
4. No history of IV drug use
5. No medication unless approved by the blood bank
6. No evidence of CMV (CMV is the acronym for "cytomegalovirus."  Nearly half of all adults carry this virus without symptoms or ill effects, but it could infect and cause complications in a premature baby.  There is a window period during which an infected unit of blood may test free of contamination, so it is VERY important not to donate if you know that you've had this virus.)

In the end of April, I'm going to be participating in WalkAmerica.  WalkAmerica supports research and programs to help prevent premature birth, birth defects and infant death.  Premature birth is the #1 cause of newborn death and the biggest threat to babies’ health today, and through WalkAmerica, the March of Dimes is funding important research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it.

I was born prematurely and had to deal with a lot of complications b/c of it, so this is a cause that is really important to me!
