| Neverending Diet - 1 Year AnniversarySo last year, after some half-hearted starts, I began my diet in earnest, the day after Father's Day- here's the inaugural post.
January 1st: 193.8 lbs, with 27% body fat June 24th: 182.4 lbs, with 24% body fat
With the goal of going below 150 lbs by September 12th. Which I achieved early on September 5th.
September 5th: 149.8 lbs, with 16% body fat.
Thanks to many of your comments, I have been kept honest in not letting this be a one time pointless achievement, but to rather keep the weight off and keep healthy continuously.
Without a goal to motivate, this is difficult, so I immediately set up another objective - to get to single digit body fat percentage. Well, this goal is a LOT more difficult than just losing weight- you've got to balance keeping the weight off AND making sure you're losing more fat than muscle. Or at least building more muscle than fat.
Well, finally and very timely, a year later on the day after Father's Day, success!
June 16th, 2008: 156.0 lbs, with 9.2% body fat.
Now let's go eat! Just kidding.
The last month in review:

| 'Twas a great weekend for vball. Grats to all! Here's the team picture.

Praise Presbyterian Church captures 2nd place in the Young Adult Co-Ed
Division for the 2008 Princeton Volleyball Tournament. But we can do
better... so...

Here we are in China, winning FIRST place in the volleyball tournament.
Being deeply superstitious, we wear the same clothes to this tourney,
and we strike the same winning pose in the photo.

Riding our tidal wave of success, we bring our eerily repeatable brand of vball pwnage to balmy Hawaii.

Yaaawwn. Having mastered volleyball, we turn to ping pong - and off we
go to Shanghai for a challenge among the world's finest. But we find
ping pong is no match for fully trained vballers like ourselves. After
all, in ping pong, the net is only 5 inches off the table. Laughable.
But we do become representatives of our planet for this sport. Yay.

Finally... we go back in time to the launch day of our favorite movie,
The Empire Strikes Back. It is in this decade, we turn to music and
learn to play instruments... for a challenge since vball and ping pong
are too easy. So we join George Lucas' orchestra and play background
for the movie, but this creates a break in the space-time continuum by
spawning an alternate timeline.
THUS, the re-release of the
"digitally remastered" special edition Star Wars is released in the
future in the late 90s to cover this mishap and merge it back in with
mainline history... but really, the only real change in the re-release
is the orchestra music... and the inexplicable removal of the classic
ewok celebration scene at the end of Return of the Jedi. Well- now you
know- the outrageous removal of this scene and addition of freakish
new-age music over joyous ewok chant was just a distraction to keep
prying eyes and ears away from noticing the updated orchestral
soundtrack.
Anyway, they happened to have a punny "The Empire
Spikes Back" vball tourney on movie launch day, so what could we do. We
played. And of course, we won.
And now we've returned back to
present-day, still wearing the same clothes, five identical-looking
trophies richer, and looking forward to 2009.
