| Glimmer of Hope?I just got into a staring match with a silverfish hanging out on the window ledge across my desk. Could he have won? I don't know, I killed him with my silverfish smashing stick before time could tell.
Central Christian's pastors are going through the Truth Project video series by Focus on the Family. I'm not a fan of Focus on the Family and James Dobson but there may be some positive aspects to this video series. The teacher, Dr. Tackett, is an ordained minister in the PCA and R.C. Sproul endorsed it and I know Spurgeon is mentioned. I also saw the words 'Sovereignty of God' in an overview. I eyeballed an outline for todays lesson and it was over theology and its importance. Is this a glimmer of hope? Well probably not a glimmer and I'm certainly not getting my panties in a bunch (especially since I don't have any ) but it can only help, right? Unfortunately, Rodney M. missed todays video on theology.
I had dinner with Mat K and we caught up on stuff and I noticed something that I've noticed before but I suppose because things like this have been on my mind lately more than usually I picked up on it more. I don't have a problem making eye contact when I'm listening to people but I don't do so well when I'm talking to people; at least no when I'm eating with them. I tend to look down at my hands and I'm not even necessarily talking about anything personal or something I should feel vulnerable about. I'm going to have to fix this.

| There was something funny I was going to share but I forgot, imagine that. I have decides to make the exodus over to wordpress. I will put up a link to a new site over there as soon as I have it set up. It will take the place of my xanga and continue the atmosphere of this site with the addition of a few other elements. It is also replacing my 'Reflections' site but isn't really going to be too much like that one because that one is kind of retarded.
This week promises to be exciting and busy. Tonight I am meeting with my old roommate, Mat K, to get some things I left at his house since he is moving. We are going to meet and have dinner so that should be fun. Wednesday I will be helping Wayne move some drywall and get a free dinner for my efforts. Thursday is Trinity Tavern and a meeting with my Pastor. Friday is our Good Friday service which I'm excited about because I haven't been to one yet. Saturday I have a fun zoo visit.

| This weekend has been a good weekend. I worked Saturday morning...OK, so not everything was good but I will get overtime...then in the afternoon I went and hung out with some people from church. We sorted out bags of candy and had dinner at Chipotle. Sunday I went to church early and helped with some setup stuff and then after church we had a feast catered from Hog Wild. Great food.
I finished reading The Kingdom and the Power by Leithart. Very good book and perhaps at some time I will write some summary thoughts about it...or maybe not...perhaps the next time I read it whenever that might be. I suppose I could insert a few thoughts here. Ummm. Basically it is a call to return to the centrality of the church...I think that is even part of the title. The primary way the church influences the world around us and manifests Christ's kingdom on earth is not through political or social action but rather through being the church. Our weapons in 'holy war' are not carnal but rather spiritual: worship, baptism, Lord's supper, church discipline, preaching the gospel, teaching, prayer, and service/mercy ministry. We conquer and become kings not through frontal assault but through meekness. That is the main argument of the book but there is really so much more. In a sense, the book is like an exposition of the gospel and all that it entails; the ground covered by Leithart is amazing and it's presentation is accessible to all.
I began reading Leithart's Deep Comedy. It should be a pretty quick read. I like reading books like that on the side or in addition to larger stuff. Gives me a sense of accomplishment as I toil through harder/longer stuff and provides some variety.
Oh yeah, I think I mentioned it but I read The Abolition of Man by Lewis. On one level his line of argument is easy to follow and understand and yet there is still something nagging at me, something I am still wrestling with. I don't know if it's something I don't understand or something that feels incomplete but I do believe I will be spending more time with it. It is similar to some things I have read in other places like The Doctrine of the Knowledge of God. When I read it I understand it but when I try to formulate it in my mind it feels incomplete and I don't think I really understand it. I see the argument but it's not my own. Wrestling with these types of things are the things that make us grow though.

| Yesterday I went to Barnes & Noble to see what kind of sales they had since they are closing the store to move to Bradley Fair. I bought a thesaurus and a new leather hard bound journal for a study journal. I also picked up a new LotR trilogy set since I parted with mine a long time back and have wanted to read it again. I received a C.S. Lewis classics book in the mail yesterday. I also received a copy of a documentary on Sacred Harp singing and I watched that last night. Definitely something I would love to experience so I suppose at some point I'm going to have to locate a church that does it and plan a trip.
Nothing exciting, not a particularly good week but oh well.
