After a time he thought he would go and see how they were getting on; and first he went to the gardener's wife. He asked her how she was and how things were going with herself and her husband. She replied that on the whole, they were doing very well. "But," she continued, "I do wish we could have some good rain. The garden wants it so badly."
Then he went on to the potter's wife and made the same inquiries of her. She replied that she and her husband had nothing to complain of. But," she went on, "I do wish we could have some nice dry weather, to dry the pottery." Her father looked at her with a humorous expression on his face. "You want dry weather," he said, "and you sister wants rain. I was going to ask in my prayers that your wishes should be granted; but now it strikes me I had better not refer to the subject at all."

Friday, May 18, 2007

In exactly 3 months from this very minute, Doug and I will be saying our "I do's."

Only one word fits here....WOW!!!!
You Might Be A Civil War Reenactor IF.........

your $20,000 car sits out in the weather so your $200 tent can stay in the garage

you drive by some open land and think, "What a great place for a battle!"

most of the clothes you own went out of style over 135 years ago...

you've made a vehicle purchase decision based on how well it can accommodate your tent poles

you've ever uttered the phrase, "Only 68 more days 'til our next event"

sleeping in a leaky tent in the rain and mud is your idea of a fun Saturday night

you've ever worn wool when the temperature tops 100 degrees repeatedly

there are half-completed sewing projects decorating your furniture

you've ever made a career decision based on its impact on your reenacting weekends

your friends refuse to attend any historic movie dramas with you

you can spot wool at 30 yards

your kids can correct their history teachers

your mailman is confused as to what rank you hold in the reserves

your birthday and Christmas list reads like a quartermaster's request for supplies

And finally......

you have ever been asked at a gas station if you're Amish

A message for my sweetheart:

We're getting married!!!!!!!

I can't wait!!! Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.
