Sometimes I think I hate being a grown up. Other times I think I love it.

Thankfully, today is one of those "love-it" moments.

Although I do wonder when I'm supposed to sleep.

Yes, dear readers, I have been absent since graduation. But this is for a good reason, as I've been busy writing in other places - namely, at my new job as an editor for Crosswalk.com.

Part of my job is writing a short weekly devo for the site, just reflecting on something God has shown me, taught me, or - sometimes - force-fed me. In any case, pieces of my life as they apply often pop up. The other editors are wonderful writers and thinkers too, so this is my encouragement to check out Crosswalk, the devotional. My day is Wednesday, but check in any day.

An anthem

I wish
Wishing for you to find your way
And I'll hold on for all you need
That's all we need to say
I'll take my chances while
You take your time with
This game you play
But I can't control your soul
You need to let me know
You leaving or you gonna stay

You're the only one I ever believed in
The answer that could never be found
The moment you decided to let love in
Now I'm banging on the door of an angel
The end of fear is where we begin
The moment we decided to let love in

There's nothing we can do about
The things we have to do without
The only way to feel again
Is let love in

There's nothing we can do about
The things we have to live without
The only way to see again
Is let love in

You're the only one I ever believed in
The answer that could never be found
The moment you decided to let love in
Now I'm banging on the door of an angel

The end of fear is where we begin
The moment we decided to let love in

Goo Goo Dolls.

Almost goodbye

And the tears have begun.

In spite of how ready we are to move on, we can hardly bear to leave these people and this place. We have come to love, bemoan, criticize, smile knowingly, wrestle with, rest in, admire, and realize the value of our undergraduate years. We've taken the experiences as far as we could most of the time -- or at least as far as we dared before we got fined. Bluegrass nights at the Brewery, picnics at Leesburg Falls, Lloydstocks, theatre productions, late nights in the Tower, and the joyful spontaneity of living with kindred spirits are all among our most treasured memories. We've grown, regressed, been stretched, matured, been humbled, and now we're being released. We'll miss you, Grove City. We really will, even though we'll probably never be able to sing "Hail to thee our alma mater" without chuckling under our breath. "Beneath the pines so gently flowing..." Hehe.

Goodbye, Grove City College. Goodbye.

Love,
The Class of 2008

Well...

The end is less than two week away.

Oh. my.
