Hooray! It's my first presidential primary. I've already mailed in my ballot, but it's hard not to get a little excited by the hype. And while I've been cheering all along for my Hawaii-boy, I can see how he's gaining momentum amongst the youth with images like these...
Go out and VOTE everybody! (If you live in a state that's voting today, that is!)
Somehow I missed the news that this increase was going to take place. I guess it's because I hardly use stamps nowadays. I'm actually still trying to use up my 37 cent stamps -- so now I gotta tack on two 2-cent ones.
Speaking of price increases, I was curious about the gas price trends and checked out gasbuddy.com. It was quite shocking to see how much prices have risen over the past 5 years:
Isn't it strange how Hawaii's prices are so out of sync with the rest of the country? It's gotta be that one-refinery thing. Check out how our San Jose prices overtook Honolulu's at the beginning of this year. Weird, huh.
But I guess I'm not complaining... many of you know that I'm on a big Al Gore kick. The high prices will hopefully encourage us to drive less. It hasn't made too big of a dent in my daily habits yet, but we *are* carpooling more often. And in considering a new home purchase, we're being a lot more conscious about public transportation options. I'd love to be able to ride a train to work...wherever that is, of course.
