| Christmas Cookie DecoratingI have just returned from my sister's house. I spent the afternoon with her two girls, my babies, 17yr old Kayla and 14 yr old Emily. We made a big mess, but did we have fun! It is a family tradition for my sister and her girls, and CD too, to decorate sugar cookies for Christmas! They invited me to join them and I gladly accepted the invitation! We have fond memories from our childhood decorating those sugary treasures. Mom would cover the kitchen table and let Katrina, Eric and I loose with icing and sprinkles, not to mention she would let us do the best part, rolling out the dough and choosing the right cookie cutter! Recently Mom went through all of the cookie cutters and after a family lunch at her house my sister and I systematically divided each cutter into want piles! We each reminisced over them, trying to remember what some of them were! The girls swiped up the funky weird one's such as a large turkey, a camel, Yosemite Sam, Porky Pig and a pilgrim, sailor not sure what kind of boy... They decided that these were the cookie cutters they were going to use! They are going to gift the sugary surprises to their friends. Well I hope they are good friends because we had many discombobulated and headless masterpieces! After we successfully destroyed Katrina's kitchen, rolled out, baked and iced the beauties, we called it an evening! I am thankful for small pleasures and for being able to enjoy an old tradition with my family! I am glad too, that the girls, my babies are not too old to appreciate the silly fun you can have with your family!
These are a few of my good ones! Okay they were all good, we were laughing at which ones we did first, you know not so good, then the ones in the middle, when we were serious about our art, and then the ones we did last, I like to call them the abstract art, but hey they are all good! | | |
| Wanted: Christmas CheerI know many people have a hard time at this time of year. I
am! There has been many things going on in my life lately that
has squashed my Christmas Spirit!
I was telling my therapist, yes my therapist, that I didn't feel the
joy of Christmas anymore. She said I need to seek out what was
blocking it. Okay what???? What does that mean?
Is it because this is my first Christmas divorced instead of separated,
is it because my only living grandparent is wasting away in a nursing
home or is it because a dear friend, young friend has discovered she
has breast cancer...
I am feeling better don't get me wrong and I have made great strides in
my life and feel happy, truly happy, just where is my Christmas Cheer?
I had two parties last weekend and one this weekend! Oh and my birthday is this week!
How did Paige put it, let's help Karla celebrate as she enters the last
year of her thirties! Oh my! I will be the big 40 next
year, well that's a later blog, that will probably start on Friday...
I know I will find my cheer, I need to keep faith in God, he has got me this far, I know he can get me further!
So Merry Christmas and I will work on finding my Christmas Cheer, Love to all!

| Burnt Popcorn Have you ever burnt the microwave popcorn? Well if you are saying
no, then you might be telling a fib! Let's face it we have all
done it!
Right now the aroma of burnt popcorn is coursing through the
building. It is bad enough to do it at home but at the
office! Oh the offender will be sought out and then must swear
never to try and cook popcorn again!
You smell it, you hear everyone yelling, "Who burnt the popcorn?"
Ugh, it just smells terrible! Four people I have heard in 5
minutes asking who burnt the popcorn!
Not I said the cat! NO, I really didn't! But Carl ate it,
though he was not the offender. Who did it, if I were them I
would not confess, in fact I would steer clear of the breakroom and the
microwave, guilt by association!
At a job, in my previous life, we actually had to throw the microwave away and thus banned popcorn from the building!
With all of today's technology, why can't we figure out how to cook
microwave popcorn in a microwave, thought I would clarify that, without
burning it and forcing all of your coworkers out of the building!
That is all!

| Loss of a friendWe lost a dear friend this weekend. Jake was a friend of the 4
legged species, though a friend indeed. He was my dear friend
Belinda's "baby dog" as she kept saying through sobs of tears
yesterday! He was 10 1/2 years old and had many friends at Lake
Texoma, Kiesha, my "baby dog", Hercules "Herky", who thought he could
fly, but that is another blog, and his adopted sister Shadow, who was a
the camp dog that actually adopted Belinda. The mentioned crew
was just a few of the 4 legged friends there is of course Lady Bell,
Gabby, Austin, Chase and the late Beau just to name a few more.
The human friends out number the 4 legged ones by far. When Dawn
and Ashely came to me door yesterday morning I greeted them with
"what's wrong?" I could see it in her face something had
happened. Jake had been diagnosed with cancer, and as long as he
could walk, eat and poop in no pain we considered that quality of
life. Just a word about the human friends that Jake had, we all
gathered to support them. Dwayne, one of Jake's best friends had
built a monument of sorts for him, in anticipation of his end. A
beautiful casket, carefully made, stained and complete with handles, as
Belinda repeated multiple times, "did you see all the handles?"But the
part that got me the most was the engraved plaque that he had put upon
it, it simply read:
Jake
Gone Fishing
See that was Jake's claim to fame, he
fished, often, belly deep in the lake water hot or cold, nose down
searching and looking for the catch of the day! No one knows if
he ever caught anything more than our hearts.
He took his last breath at the foot of Randy and Belinda's bed yesterday morning, a peaceful slumber on his own.
There are those that say oh he was just a dog, no that is not the
case. Especially with this one, but they are our friends or
companions, they love unconditionally! They are family!
Tried and True! Have peace my friend.
Belinda teaching the dogs tricks. Jake is the Golden Retriever, Kiesha is my lab chow mix and Herky, the flying dog.

| A Camel Amoung the Bison As I travel to and from work, I pass the Circle T ranch. The
usual scene of bison roaming in the green rolling pastures. I
love seeing this bit of country in the sprawling urban crawl! As
I was traveling home a month or so ago, I had to do a double take, was
that a camel or am I seeing things! Oh yes it is a camel,
what? Yes, a camel grazing and cohobating with the bison, how
about that!
And today I open an email from a friend, I have seen this before, but
it is so neat, a tigress nursing and raise orphan piglets wrapped in
tiger skins. The note at the bottom, Tell me why we can't all get
along?
Just what I was thinking last night on my commute home, as I watched the lone camel amid the herd of buffalo!
So tell me why can't we all live, play and work on this planet and get along?
