| i don't like dihonest food or beverages, aka.oatmeal and hot tea. they smell better than they taste. Our world's idea of peace is an illusion. Just because direct conflict ceases doesn't mean there's a common understanding or goal. we've reduced the Godly idea of "shalom" to "getting along". "Shalom" is something every politician promises and never can bring. Jesus is the only provider of "shalom". If you have accepted Christ, you carry the secret of "shalom", restoration, joy, everything that could make things truly right, with you. Spreading the Kingdom of God is not just getting people saved so they don't have to go to hell, it's showing Jesus to others. It's bringing Jesus to as many people as possible so that they may know Him so that God's order can be restored, and it will be. We just need to work the fields in preparation for that day. It's not about not going to hell, it's about the glory of God being shared and spread to as much of His creation as possible because that is what His creation was intended for. This is what we are called to do. We have to honor the fact that Christ lives in us and not condense the Holy Spirit to an extra dose of a "concience". We need to live like God is alive, because that is what we believe after all. It's like we have no standards for life anymore. Yes, we will fail and that is Grace. I dislike it very much when people say (including myself) that "that's where Grace comes in..." Grace is not given a cue to come fix somebody and then leave when they feel better. Grace is Justice. There is not one without the other and that is what confuses the world. It's "old magic" as C.S. Lewis would say. Anyway, we use personality as an excuse for everything. What about character? Why are we so fixed on finding the deep reasons for one's problem and then stopping there? Why can't we claim the power that Jesus can bestow and lay it at His feet? Why don't we try to practice a Christ-like life, allow oursleves to be a vessel, and not just wallow in excuses? It's okay when we fail because whatever came out of the effort to let Jesus take control will be much more powerful than when you mess up. He has already won. that's a letter to myself, by the way |
