    Fitness Log: 05-26-2008

After three days away from exercise I went back to work with a stomach full of home-made hamburger. I have to add that eating a large meal within three hours of exercising is a really bad idea, especially when we are talking long distance running. I did three sets of each of the new exercises as well, not that that is anything to boast about. :( Here are the stats:

    05-27-2008: 66.5 kg; BMI = 27.68
    Tricep Dips: 3 x 12
    Sit-ups: 3 x 50
    Push-ups: 3 x 10
    Jog: 4.8 km (39 mins)

As you can see the over-eating in close proximity to running hurt my time, but I was happy that I at least got under 40 minutes with how I felt on the run. I was 'vurping' up food all of the way there and back. It was pretty bad.

I will need to change my tactics for weight loss. I find that even with my diet I am still over-eating so I will need to focus on lowering cravings by altering my diet even more. I have no idea how to do this effectively but I guess that is where the internet comes in handy. :D

  • Fitness Log: 05-21-2008 to 05-22-2008

After a two-day hiatus due to house renovations on Monday and Tuesday I went back to exercise on Wednesday feeling out of it due to a diet consisting mainly of creme filled cookies on the days off. It didn't affect my stats however.

    05-21-2008: 66.5 kg; BMI = 27.68
    Jog: 4.8 (38 mins)

The next day, I decided to add in a few more exercises to the routine: Sit-ups, Push-ups and Tricep Dips. I did 2 sets of each and it hurt quite a bit. I knew that it would help though so I have decided after a third day of lay-off to add them permanently to the routine. I took off on the run feeling abuzz from the extra exercises, even if a tad drained from them. Half-way to the first landmark on the road I saw something on the road from some distance away and felt a pang of anticipated sadness at what sort of dead creature that it could be and was not surprised. Some freak (most likely one of the truck drivers that have been hooning up and down our road on weekday mornings for the past fortnight) had hit a little male potoroo and left it in the middle of the road. I had to fight back the tears as I inspected the little body, now covered in ants. It isn't one of the endangered sub-species but I have come to appreciate these mysterious creatures so the loss of one before its time is a shame. Knowing that I would have trouble keeping it together if I saw it on the run back, and the fact that I didn't want others to hit the tiny body on the road, I dragged the poor little guy off of the road before fighting back a tear and continuing my run. In spite of the brief delay, as well as the pins and needles that I ended up feeling in both feet on the way back, I managed a sub-38 minute time. Although it is my fastest time since starting exercise at home, I still felt sad for the potoroo. It is always sad for a native creature to be killed needlessly on the roads due to idiot drivers.

    05-22-2008: 66.5 kg; BMI = 27.68
    Tricep Dips: 2 x 12
    Situps: 2 x 50
    Push-ups: 2 x 10
    Jog: 4.8 km (37 mins)

I mentioned that I had a three-day lay-off. The first day was due to ripped arms and wishing to spend a day with my hubby on his first day off in nearly a fortnight. The second, yesterday, was due to roleplaying with friends and because it was birthday. Today was due to a desire to maintain my blog and write, as a sort of reward for hard work.

  • Fitness Log: 05-18-2008

Hot damn! I had a great run today, cutting an entire minute off of my previous time. I still haven't gone through any major weight loss, but that is to be expected. Anyhoo, here are the stats:

    05-18-2008: 66.5 kg; BMI = 27.68
    Jog: 4.8 km (38 mins)

Tomorrow is a rest day so hopefully I will get some reading and writing done after cleaning a bay for our future bathroom. :D

  • Fitness Log: 05-16-2008 to 05-17-2008

On the 15th I decided to take a break due to having dizzy spells, but the next day I went back to work and got a sub 40 minute time on the 4.8 km run. One of the contributers to the good time was the fact that I only had a single rest period on the way back. This is a large improvement on my normal routine and proves that I am beginning to build some endurance. The next day I got the same time, but even though I rested later in the run, I was hurting pretty bad and as a result my strides were shorter and slower. This will improve in the weeks to come.

    05-16-2008: 66.0 kg; BMI = 27.47
    Jog: 4.8 km (39 mins)

    05-17-2008: 66.5 kg; BMI = 27.68
    Jog: 4.8 km (39 mins)

I have decided on a rest method that I believe will be quite effective in helping me to recover without losing any muscle tone: Three days on, one day off. I have noticed that I get pretty worn out if I do more than 3 days exercise in a row, so until I build up my endurance to acceptable levels I think that a rest day will be quite helpful. If you guys have other ideas that feel free to post your suggestions.

(N.B. Due to my internet problems I have had trouble accessing my Xanga page, hence the late post.)
