Oooh yeah! Very nice! We were so blessed to be able to go on a shoestring budget. Really. How much? Well, we got plane tickets (we didn't fly together- long story), a vacation house (Really nice! Good job Robin), a rental car, food, and some spending money for less than $1000. TA DA! What a blessing!

Anyway, you can see a whole bunch of pictures here...

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Well, it's been a while, but I don't have much time right now.

Come on over & check out what's going on at the
Conroe House Of Prayer!

Come one, come... ...not all, but a good many!

Man, has it been a long time since I updated xanga, or what? It has been a loooong few months, but Robin & I are happy to announce the Conroe House of Prayer is ready! ALMOST all of the work has been completed, and the downstairs area is hosting our first "un-official" event this weekend, Saturday 7/7/07. We will have worship, fellowship, beverages, etc...
The photos won't tell the whole story, but you'll get a good idea as to what it looks like now.

Conroe House of Prayer News

Thanks for all your prayers & support through this long (10+ month) project. The prayers have been what got us through.

In other news, the kids are fantastic, & growing like banana trees. They're not really weeds, but they are kinda fruity, so that's the reference for the banana tree thing. They get that from their mother. What? It might be true!

Ok, check out the picture, from around Thanksgiving time last year. So joseph had this Napoleon Gangsta thing going. kinda funny....

Great is Thy faithfulness, oh Lord!!

Well, it's been a productive time
at the CHOP! We replaced the entire center support beam & columns in
the room! Let me just say that it was some SERIOUS work, of which I did
very little! many thanks to Mr. Jackie Hales for his amazing, quick,
bargain priced, donated, precise work! His skills in lifting an entire
ceiling, floor & roof of a 100 year old building astounded me. Our
floor upstairs is now safe, and the ceiling is straight. The roof
drained off like crazy with just the first small movement, and I'd love
to have seen it when they made the final push! We raised the floor 6 & 1/2" upstairs back to level!!! Amazing work!

We are now set for sheetrock work
& walls to go in. Next step though is the Elec. drop. Should go
much easier now that it's level.

On a completely different note, many thanks to my beautiful wife for her
well planned birthday party. She said she couldn't let this one (yes,
it's a BIG one!) go without a party. I'm not big on b-day parties for
myself, but this went very well. She planned a disc golf tournament
with some friends from church who play, and it was mellow enough to
enjoy the day. Kudos dear, kudos!

in case you wondered, I'll be 40 this week. baaaaaahhh
Oh, you're only as old as you feel... double baaaahhhhhhhh

Have a great day folks!
We did much, but
there is soooo much left to do. We tore down walls, we smashed
plumbing, we ripped up floor tile, we took out plaster, and then we had
breakfast.
No, really. We had doughnuts throughout the day, so we ate breakfast, then breakfast, and again, breakfast.
With all that sugar, I'm not sure how much more we could have possibly done. We filled that HUGE dumpster up, and then some!

Thanks again!!!
This will be a day of ripping out sheetrock, tearing down walls, and hauling garbage. Sound fun?? Come on!!
Bring your hammers, screwguns, pry bars, and lots of energy...

Sound enough like a commercial? :)

Really, if you find yourself with
nothing to do, there will be a large group of us there. Come on out
& enjoy some fellowship with us. Even if you just cheer us on, that
works....
Here in Houston, we rejoice over not-so-hot weather. It has been superb
in the mornings, and the evenings are much nicer. Here's a newsflash,
it won't last long. Hot this weekend again. Enjoy it while you can.
Carpe Diem

All is rolling along for the CHOP
, and we (by we, I mean I) should have the plans done by the weekend.
This is both exciting and scary as heck. We've done something that
looked like this in the planning stages, but turned out so far away
from our dreams... Pray that we seek first after what God wants for
this, and not ourselves. Thanks already for the prayers & support.
you guys rock.

here's a few Joseph pictures taken on a camera phone, so they're grainy, but funny.
Remember, this kid is only 2!!
It is the original one we looked at, the
one which needs all the work. We now have the insurance in place to get
started on the work. Should be fun!!

I have a meeting with a Christian architect on Wednesday, so please
keep that in your prayers. We would like to do this "on the cheap", and
would like a person who shares our vision. This could be the guy. He
sounded fired up about it.

We went to Galveston today. Figured we'd better do something fun before
all the work starts. Between the CHOP, Living Waters, and the new Disc
Golf course I am building in my neighborhood, I'll be a busy boy. It
was fun. I'm not a big fan of the beach, but the kids loved it. I
brought an inflatable kayak, & we jumped waves all day. It was nice
to get a shower there, and drive home clean. mmmmmmm, no more
sand..........

The website is re-done. A little more subtle color scheme. Tell me what you think...
http://www.conroehop.org

be blessed,
If there WAS a meeting of the mimes, do you
think any of them would finally speak-up & freak- OK, THIS IS
ABSURD! I need to TALK to somebody!!

Sorry...

We had a meeting (of the minds) for those interested in being a part of the Conroe
House of Prayer, and the turnout was fairly light (18-20), but VERY
encouraging. We had people from about 3 other churches, including a
couple pastors from other churches. They were SUPER supportive, and one
pledged monetary support. The people who attended were ready to get
their hands dirty, promising labor & tools, with more approaching
us the next day. Very exciting...

The building inspector came out to our first choice in buildings on
Thursday, and was far more encouraging than I expected. It's a historic
building, so we are limited on what we can do to the outside, but the
inside is all ready for demo! Praise God! Next step- Hire an architect
to draw the plans. I KNEW I should have finished my schooling... just
kidding, I would have been a lousy architect. I can't sit still that
long....

Please keep the prayers coming, & check the website for more news. Thanks! keith
Man, those are some busy folks!
We also got our coffee makers. May not seem like a big deal to most
people, but it is to me. Those are expensive! We got a deal...
:) Those who really know how I am probably let out a collective
"naaawwww"...

I have a very primitive website up. Take a look if you'd like- conroehop.org

Work has been very busy for me. This is summer, and all the buses get
repaired during summer. This is END of summer, so all the buses need to
be home in 2 weeks!

I'll write some more later. I need to go & paint the house...
