Some of you have been wondering why I've been so busy as of late. Well, I had to keep it a secret until now. Channel 3 News in Washington D.C. just released some news on it. I'll be looking for your support.
Back in January 2007, I wrote about a li'l sister of mine who had just gotten proposed to. Here's a picture of the newly engaged couple a year and a half ago.
Here they are now. This past weekend, I got to photograph their engagement session. They're getting married in a few weeks.
Okay, I have photographed numerous events over the last few years as a hired photographer or as a friend. When shooting as a photographer, almost every time, I really became friends with the people who've hired me. It's quite an honor to get treated as a guest in these situations. But when I shoot as a 2nd photographer, it's not always the case and it becomes purely a professional gig, which is fine too.
A couple of weeks ago, I shot at an event and was introduced to what is called a "vendor meal" after 3 years of shooting. Yeah, you photographers know what I'm talking about. While everyone is getting a 12 course meal, you get a vendor meal. I just found out that one DJ at a wedding got a brown bag sandwich.....and he had to eat it in another room.
For those of you thinking about hiring a photographer, videographer, DJ, or any other vendor, trust me on this advice I'm about to share. Be thoughtful to your vendors and your vendors will go over the top and give you more than you ever negotiated for. Trust me.
If you're a vendor or a friend of one, tell me about a below par vendor meal experience so we can all laugh together.
