  • Robbed!!!

This evening, Grace and I went over to a friends apt. to watch a movie on my laptop (thank God I took it up there), and while we were over there for two hours someone broke into my apt and stole my ipod!!

They also broke into two other apts and stole my coworker's laptop and new ipod nano!  Our other coworkers left today for china, so we don't know who had laptops stolen.

The burgler climbed in through our windows because we are all on the first floor.  We had the police over and they found only shoe prints on the window railings.  Our rooms were slightly ransacked (mine was a mess, so it was kinda already ransacked by me).

I feel really bad for my coworker.  It hasn't really hit me about the ipod yet.  I had a lot of stuff on it, 60 gigs, and I had ripped 20 gigs of music on it.  There were maybe 6 gigs of photos, many of which i have backed up on my computer.  Well, i guess i learned my lesson.  I'm locking the windows!!

Actually, I'm not that upset.  I'm just grateful everyone is okay.  It's just stuff, right?

I do feel really bad for my coworker though, her computer was only a few months old.

here's a phto of the culprit's footprints on the railbars.

The jerk tore down my curtains!!

  • long time no xanga

i've been sucked into the world of facebook (so much easier for photos and there's been a recent exodus).  But for the sake of those faithful xanga-ers, mostly my nearest and dearest, here's a much belated entry.

Things at the school have been terrible; however, I'm not depressed or upset.  Actually, I'm inexplicably in a good mood most days.  I can only attribute this to the fact that many people are praying for me.  Problems have been in abundance, but so has God's grace.  I've definitely learned a hard yet powerful lesson on faith and patience.  Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

As for next year, it's all under God's will.  I am currently praying about it, and sorta have an idea of what to do, but I'll let you all know as soon as I'm sure.  One thing is for certain, I will not leave this school because of the problems I've experienced here.  My purpose here has always been God's service, and I will only leave when He tells me I'm done.  I know that in some circles, this organization has a bad reputation.  Yes, there are problems.  However, I can say from first-hand experience that GOD IS WORKING HERE.  He's using messed up people to do amazing things, and if that isn't Biblical, I don't know what is.

I'm coming home for Christmas with a brief stay in Seattle to visit Christie and Chris.  Flight leaves Seoul on th 18th of Dec.  Prob be in SoVA round the 22 until Jan 4th.

Patrice and Nathan, this is for you:

As was requested, here's some random Catie time:

For those of you curious about me, Ruthie and I are preparing to go on a 4 day trip to Fukuoka, Japan to look around.  Then maybe spend a day or two in Gwangju visiting Sungmi.  School starts up again on the 19th...booooo!

  • Anyone want a teaching job?

Hey guys, the school asked me to see if any of you all are brave enough to consider coming here for 2 years.
We're looking for teachers to teach science, math, and especially English.  It's a 2 year committment and the school provides low-cost quality housing.   The pay is okay, not super low or really high.  It's a good job for people who are starting out of college.  You must have a bachelor's degree.

I'm not going to lie to you guys, it's not easy.  The school is literally in the middle of nowhere and there are always administrative issues.  If you want to come here for any reason other than ministering to kids, you're not going to have a good experience.    However, the kids are great and cooworkers are pretty cool.  Those of you who know Jon Hiebert and Laura Kennedy (soon to be Hiebert), they'll be here.  Plus you'll get to spend a year with yours truely   You can ask them about it.

email me if you're interested in gettin an application.  I'll give you more details too.
