(A side story: My Animation Chronography)
January 15th, 2006 - Just found "Noir", "Wolf's Rain", "GTO", and "Fruit Basket" in the back of my collection. Remembered one of the first anime I ever watched - probably the one that started it all - "Akira"
January 24th, 2006 - Just finished watching "Full Metal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shambala". It's a very well made anime movie, absolutely fitting for the original plot. I'll gladly recommend it to all Full Metal anime fans.
January 31st, 2006 - Finished watching "Full Metal Panic Fumoffu". Kind of disappointed since they turned it into a complete comedy and taking all the action out. Still, worthwhile for laughs, it's freaking hilarious.
February 18, 2006 - Just finished watching "Elfen Lied". Talk about 'weird' and 'cute' being put into a meat grinder, but overall a nice series for those that don't mind the nudity and blood. Caught up a bit in the "Naruto" series (Ep. 166).
February 27, 2006 - Decided to watch something new, so I started "Mai Hime" and caught up a little bit in "Bleach" (Ep. 50) Great animation and drawing in "Mai Hime", plot is well planned and the characters are nicely done. A little confusing with the names, but definitly worth to re-watch.
March 20, 2006 - Finished "Full Metal Panic - TSR". I love it, it's as great as the original. A little short if you ask me, only 13 episodes in total.
May 23, 2006 - Watched the 2nd Naruto movie, named: Gekijyouban Naruto Daigekitotsu! Maboroshi no Chiteiiseki Dattebayo! (or: 大激突!幻の地底遺跡だってばよ) for those who read Kanji. Currently up to ep. 69 in the Bleach series.
June 6, 2006 - Just found my HUGE box of "Trigun" stashed behind the closet. Maybe more, stayed tuned.
July 18, 2006 - Just finished watching "Eureka Seven: Psalms of Planets". Another series I would highly recommend from Bandai. The plot is a little confusing, so make sure you watch the Ep. "Navigation ray=out" for some in-depth explantion. Or, if you can put up with the suspense for 40+ episodes of anime, everything becomes much clearer at the end of the series. Found the series of "Boys Be..." Watched two episodes before I fell alseep, definitly not my type of anime.
August 11, 2006 - Finished the "Air" series and the movie. A pretty straightfoward plot, and it wasn't too long. A little bit of a sad storyline, but the ending makes up for it. I would recommend the series, but if you have trouble understanding it after you have finished it, I would recommend that would search up some fan sites, I found some that had a really detailed explaination to the entire series.
September 18, 2006 - "Black Cat" was highly recommended to me, so I watched the anime - and I loved it. It's said the manga is even better, so I guess I should get a copy of the manga. Finished "Mai Otome" awhile ago, it doesn't really compare to the original series - at least that is what I like to believe. Their plots are entirely different, although the cast remained intact. I would recommend the series nevertheless. "Da Capo" is another good series I watched awhile ago that I would recommend as well.
October 10, 2006 - I was browsing through a collection of anime wallpapers when something caught my eye. It was a beautiful paper of the anime "Fate Stay Night" so I decided to look into it. It was listed as a very popular anime on some anime fansites, so I went ahead and downloaded the entire series. All I have to say is, it's an awesome series, and I loved every bit of it. The ending gave me a heartache for two days, but definitly worth to watch / rewatch. **A side note: it turns out the series originated from a japanese h-game, but the anime doesn't have any h-material in it**
October 24, 2006 - Added "Futakoi" and "Futakoi Alternative" to my list of anime. I perfer "Futakoi Alternative", just cause it is more random and original. (The stories aren't related in any way) "Ai Yori Aoshi" is another good series if you like a good anime romance drama, I would recommend it.
November 22, 2006 - Watched "Bakuretsu Tenshi", and "Tenjho Tenge". I rarely critize anime, but I'll do it here. "Bakuretsu Tenshi" had nice CG incoporated into the anime, but I have to say the storyline is one of my least favorite. As for "Tenjho Tenge", there was too much time spent talking about the past, and it feels like the ending was never completed. The action and the ecchi is pretty heavy, so I wouldn't really recommend this series unless you liked that kind of anime.
**Special note: After watching "Rozen Maiden" and "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu", I must say both of these anime are very well done. From the story to the animation, I enjoyed both of these series and would recommend them. Just a side note, the series of "Haruhi Suzumiya" do not flow in sequence, meaning the time in which episode took place is all mixed up throughout the series. This is deliberate, and the actual episode numbers are probably correct. Don't try to reorder them, as I tried but failed to do =P. You just have to be patient with the series and everything will explain itself in good time**
December 18, 2006 - Found out they made a Gits movie, named "Solid State Society" so I got it right away and watched it. Loved it, and would recommend it to all Gits fans. This only applies because the plot assumes you are interested in the series/or currently watching/watched the Gits - SAC series. "Gunslinger girl" was another title I picked up, but it's not an anime I would recommend if you don't enjoy a slow moving plot. The story flows pretty nicely, and it requires you to be patient as the story of each girl is unveiled. Watching "Kanon" and "Tsubasa Chronicle" 2nd season atm... stayed tuned.
December 25, 2006 - Seeing how Christmas is uneventful as ever, I turned my attention to... anime. Currently watching "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha", "Kore ga Watashi no Goshujin-sama"... On a side note, my 2nd hard disk is about to be full... good thing I got that 300 gig awhile back huh ^^?
December 30, 2006 - "Death Note" has left me speechless. Go watch it if you haven't seen it already, one of the best anime I've seen recently. Unfortunatly, I only have up to Ep. 12, and I don't think the series is finished yet. Finally finished "Initial D 4th Stage", and to be honest, it's getting old. Although they have added new elements to the battles and strategies employed, there's just too much repetition throughout the series.
January 14, 2007 - Another year... for more anime~! Finished "Innocent Venus" a few days ago, and currently watching "Jigoku Shoujo" atm. "Innocent Venus" is a decent Sci-Fi/Action anime that has a little CG intergrated for those who love a good sci-fi with a little action. More later, my bandwidth is exceeding my anime-watching capacity, if you know what I mean .
January 22, 2007 - Just finished "Samurai 7", as it was recommended by a friend. Pretty straight foward plot, nicely done CGs, and a good series overall. This series is a little awkward if you ask me, since I don't think mechas and samurais mix that well together. But, it's definitly worth to watch if you like samurais and sword arts.
Februrary 21, 2007 - After a hectic new year, I was able to finish both seasons of "Mahoromatic". A great series all around, and I throughly enjoyed it. It's definitly not children material, so I wouldn't recommend watching it with kids/people that cannot stand a little ecchi around. Also finished watching "Kiddy Grade" a week earlier, a decent series overall. Just be a little patient with the plot, and everything will unfold naturally in good time.
February 22, 2007 - Found my box of "Neon Genesis Evangelion", completely forgot about it since I still don't understand the ending of the series. I guess I'll go watch it again when I have time =P
July 9, 2007 - Finished "Jigoku Shoujo" and "Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori". Both excellent series, the ending of "Futakomori" is a little sad, but I think both series is a good reflection of human nature overall. Bought a lot of anime over the weekend, including the collector's edition of "Gundam Seed Destiny", "Full Metal Alchemist", "Appleseed" and "Speed Grapher" - with the latter I haven't seen. Watched the 3rd "Naruto" movie a little while ago.
July 30, 2007 - Type-Moon broke my heart again... "Shingetsutan Tsukihime" is a decent short series, but be warned the ending is somewhat similar to "Fate Stay Night".
**Special note: I went to the ani-com festival in Hong Kong yesterday and helped myself to a set of manga: "Gantz". It's been recommended by serveral people, and I seem to like it so far. The blood and nudity would definitly classify this series as 18+. Also bought two volumes of the novel "Zero no Tsukaima", looks like I should get the anime afterwards.**
August 7, 2007 - Finished "Shakugan no Shana", which I think was a decent series. Apparently, there are people who would disagree with me =P Next: "Zero no Tsukaima"
August 8, 2007 - "Zero no Tsukaima" is another good series if you like a little comedy mixed with some drama and romance. The protagonist is another Tsundere type character, voiced by the same voice actor as Shana in "Shakugan no Shana" - suprise suprise XD (On a side note, I think my anime addiction has gotten out of hand. I can recogonize serveral different voice actors in different animes without looking at their names now)
August 23, 2007 - "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion" managed to break my heart, leave me speechless, and deprive me of sleep all at once. Don't take this the wrong way, it is an excellent series and I would highly recommend it - just be warned for an ending that one wouldn't quite expect. Also watched "Toki o Kakeru Shoujo", it's a great stand alone movie that talks about a girl who gained the ability to leap through time.
October 19, 2007 - "Claymore" is an extremely popular series lately, and rightly so. The plot is laid out carefully, and each character's development is well-thought out to how it ties into the plot. A little disappointed by the ending, because the producers had planned to end this a little early. The manga is still on-going, and the story is on-par with the anime, if not better. "Air Gear" is an excellent series about inline skating / battles, go watch it if you don't mind a little ecchi and comedy with a touch of seriousness.
January 18, 2008 - Time to kick off another year with more anime! Manged to find the second season of "Ah! My Goddess: Sorezore no Tsubasa", as well as the two episode OVA named: "Tatakau Tsubasa". A very much welcome addition to the "Ah! My Goddess" series. Currently watching "Madlax", and once again I find myself spreading very thin with all the time avaible and watching anime =P
March 8, 2008 - I've been busy with "Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei" and "Ai Yori Einishi". SZS is quite a riot, a perfect remedy for those feeling depressed or bored due to the lack of a good comedy lately. Also did finish "Gungrave" and "Mai Otome Zwei". Gungrave has a decent story revolving around a mafia, and MOZ is a definite must watch if you are a fan of the original "Mai Otome" series.
