The Birth Story

Hello everyone! I haven't posted on here in a really long time but maybe I'll get back into it now that I'm home more! I wanted to share my "birth story" with everyone on here and hopefully my facebook friends will read it on here as well. :)

Okay.... At my last prenatal appt, we had made the decision that if the baby didn't come by February 15, that Dr. Song was going to either induce or schedule my csection. On Monday, February 11, I woke up planning to go into work and I felt horrible. I couldn't hardly walk and I had a fever of 102.9. I was still going to try to go into work but Matt (thankfully) talked me out of it. He called my boss and I called my mom. My mom came over and she could tell that I was definitely sick. We called my Dr. and he wanted me to come in to get some tests done. I was dehydrated and had toxemia. They kept monitoring my blood pressure but also checked my lungs and did a chest x-ray which revealed that I had pneumonia in my left lower lobe. They decided that they were keeping me until I had a baby because I was too sick not to be there. They also discovered that since my uterus was so big, that my kidneys weren't functioning properly so I had polynephritis..which contributed to all the swelling I had. Since I was receiving fluid and was already swollen, all the fluid caused me to go into congestive heart failure. So they reduced the fluid I was receiving and put me on some other meds. I felt miserable and looking back, I don't remember a lot of the week (which I now consider a blessing!).
Dr. Song came to visit and he decided that he wanted to move my induction to Saturday morning to allow the medications an extra day to work through my system. Well, our dear little Regan had other plans (thankfully!), and my water broke on February 14 at 1:00am. I had taken a sleeping pill 20 minutes before my water broke and immediately started having strong contractions. I was miserable because I kept falling asleep but couldn't get comfortable because of the pain I was having! I started moving along pretty quickly so I asked for an epidural. Once the epidural was in, it was smooth sailing. I felt so much more comfortable and was able to sleep most of the day (or so I was told..I don't really remember!). I was fully dilated, 100% effaced, and at 0 station (for those of you who know what that means.) And it was looking more and more like I would be able to deliver naturally. Her head started to engage but then she started going backwards (-1 station) so the Dr. gave me 1 more hour to see if I would be able to deliver naturally and made no progress so we decided that a csection would be best. They prepped me for surgery and at 10:53pm, our baby girl was born! She weighed 8lbs 9oz. No wonder my kidneys were being smashed by my uterus! Everything went very well during surgery and Regan Elizabeth was healthy. They cleaned her up and sewed me up and Matt introduced her to all of our family that was there. We had a lot of family support that came! I went back to recover, then went to bed. I was exhausted!!
She will already be 1 month old this week which is so hard to believe! The time has gone by so fast and I don't like that she's growing up this quick!! But I absolutely LOVE being a mommy. She is the most precious baby. Our first night home from the hospital wasn't any fun but after that, she usually sleeps from 11-6 or 7 which is GREAT for mommy and daddy! She does have a temper but she doesn't use it very often. Overall, she is a wonderful baby!
As for me.. I no longer have pneumonia. My polynephritis went away after she was born. The congestive heart failure went away and didn't do any myocardial damage (praise the Lord). The toxemia took a while to get out of my system but I am doing much better now.
Well, there is my "birth story!" I will try to update this more often. I hope all of you are doing well!!

Bun in the oven...

I think most of you know by now but I wanted to formally share with our friends in the xanga world that Matt and I are expecting a baby! :) I am 9 weeks along and due on February 27. We are very excited for the addition to our family! God has been so good to us to provide and I know He will continue to do so has he grows our family! I haven't really started showing yet but I've definitely had morning sickness but it seems to last more than just in the mornings on some days! It has been a wonderful experience so far (minus being sick!) ! I will try to keep everyone updated as much as possible! :)

Cliff climbing

Well, just thought I would let everyone know that my husband almost made it up a cliff at Lake Vesuvius last week. My family went there for an afternoon and of course, Matt's adventurousness led him to attempt to climb up a cliff. He was almost to the top and his foot slipped off and he came crashing down. Thankfully, he was fairly graceful and landed on both feet. However, he hasn't been able to put weight on his left foot and his right ankle is sprained. Although I feel bad for him, it has been humorous to watch him try to walk with crutches. He is recovering well but is still in pain! So as you think of him, pray for him!

We had a youth service at the church last night. The teens did a fabulous job and Matt did an excellent job speaking. (I'm not biased or anything!). I'm really excited for our ministry with them and look forward to more opportunities. :)

That's all for now!

Quick Update!

Well, Matt and I moved out of our Cedarville home and now live in Wheelersburg! We got everything unloaded from the Uhaul and have lots of boxes everywhere! But thankfully we had some friends and family help us unload and start putting things in their place! We still have a long way to go but we LOVE our house! I'm so thankful that God has provided a house so close to the church and close to the road we take to get to work. If you're ever in the area, stop by! We love having visitors!!

Quick Update

Hey guys!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the church voted to bring Matt on part time staff at Wheelersburg Baptist and the vote was unanimious!!!! His official title is: Assistant Pastor of Youth Ministries and Discipleship. We are so thrilled to be able to serve in this way! We see it as a challenge but know that God will work through us to bring others to Him! We love the Wheelersburg community and we want to show them Christ's love!

I have one more day of orientation at SOMC..woohoo! I'll head back to Cedarville to work Wednesday night through Saturday at Five Seasons which will be my last day. I don't know if I'm ready to say goodbye there yet or not. I hope we can go back to visit often!

It is so encouraging to see how God works out details in our life when we surrender it to Him. If only I would surrender more...
