| That time of year...returns when all must shudder with the first pangs of
nervousness. Oh, yes, that tournament wherein lies the rise and
fall of all our many dreams. Oh Regionals, we salute thee!
Who knows how many hearts have quaked before thy door, all black and
white with the suits that have passed therein? Who can fathom the
depths of trees whose lives have been nipped at the bud so that thy
participants might fling forth their papers at the stand? Who
understands the many illegible ballots that shall be given? Who
can see the shiny glimmer of those plastic awards? Who can count
the weary hours of preparation that must meet their final bliss or doom
at thy close? Two different groups must answer that question at
that end: the winners and the non-advancers must decide for
themselves. For that is the measure with which Regionals shall
wreak its weary way. There is one thing that all must keep before
their eyes to give them comfort...Only swing-dancing will never desert
you. Lessons anyone?

| Back and home againWow, Texas was such a learning experience. We were able to debate
some of the top teams in the country, see different speaking styles,
arguments, and cases. It was an eye-opener. Not to mention
it was also fun! I much enjoyed hanging out with our wonderful
Region. Region 9 rules!!! Special congrats go to Julie, who
q-d in her DI. It made me cry. And to Kate Lewanowicz,
Matthew Silver, Christina Morgan, Michael Sewall, Amanda Slater,
and anyone else I'm blanking on, who did amazing in their IE's!
In other news, it's looking like William & Mary at the moment... We'll see what God wants!

| whiteWe have over six inches of snow! This is very exciting.
Looking out into the woods behind us, I can see trees laden down with
inches of white fluff. There are tiny little birds hopping around
on top of it, squirrels chasing each other in it. Life is
beautiful.
On another note, I just saw Charlotte and Luke up in Grove City.
We had a really fun time seeing the campus, watching classes, and
meeting lots of people. As an aside, Charlotte has gotten some
mad swing dancing skills!
But now I'm home, and I have an econ test. So good-bye.

| February hitsAnd yes, that was a pun. And no, only debaters would get that. So IMPACT was beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most fun/stressful tournament of my life. But now, that I can look back at it, the stress largely disappears. Jacob and I hit some amazing teams in outrounds. They were just a ton of fun to debate, esp.the Greens, Noah, and Gregory and Mcnair. But the tournament was a little overshadowed by the occurrences of the next day. I shall sum it up with a small warning. Don't wear ballets slippers on a dance floor meant for bare feet. Sprained ankles are no fun. But hopefully, it'll be better soon. The x-rays looked fine, so it's just a bad sprain. Maybe, by the end of the week, I'll be crutches-less. It'll give me the pity votes for NVCC tourney if I still have them. Hmm, to crutch or not to crutch, that is the question. Sorry, this post is rather on the randomisque edge of things. See you all around! | | |
