| lessons learned in the past yearI can't believe I have been out of school for a year. I often sit around and wonder how I got to this place called "adulthood" or if I'm really there. However, I do know that I have learned a lot in this past year and I'm kind of in the mood for reflection as I turn 23 at midnight. So with my love of lists, I have decided to compile one of the lessons I have learned so far...
- It's easier said than done to avoid second-hand smoke - Working at a desk all day is tiring even though you aren't really moving - Safety does have a price and it costs more to live there - If your first instinct is that someone or something will not be good for you, you are probably right - Friendships shouldn't stress you out continually - If your heart and head aren't in alignment, you can feel very out of sorts - Tivo can't read your mind.... it only records what is set - As much as you click your heels, you can't go back to the days of no responsibility - Sometimes the hardest decisions to go through with are the best for you - There is no harm in liking the stuff you've earned, as long as you keep in mind it's just stuff - A private dance party can wash away just about any bad day - Sonic Cherry Vanilla Dr.Peppers are highly addictive - Not everything you think needs to be shared haha - New allergies can appear out of nowhere - I will never fully understand Lost, but i won't stop trying - God has his own timetable
| a year long hiatus....it's been a while but xanga i am returning to you. i don't understand your new features yet and i'm not sure if my friends are still out there but i miss documenting the less eventful parts of my day.... sooo i will return. very very soon. | | |
| so i know i kept you waiting and i can't promise that this will be worth the wait but here goes nothing!
I think I actually met Kim first before I met Ryan because Kim was a queen and I lived with Megan and they frequently had super secret queen business.... I remember thinking Kim was gorgeous and really sweet and really funny on those nutty videos they made but this isn't Kim's xanga so on to Ryan.... bottom line: your wife is pretty stinkin' cool... so that is about you technically... hehehe.
I actually think I first met Ryan on xanga. I was wearing a cubs hat in my profile picture at the time and so I think that it what he commented on, but I knew he was meg and jess's friend so it wasn't weird or anything... it was just cool to meet another cubs fan and my friends' good friend at the same time. I would figure out later that I am like .0000001% a cubs fan compared to ryan... I just like their logo, ryan is a fanatic.
My first impressions weren't anything odd, just that "ooooh THAT'S ryan" and wow, he really is as nice as they say he is and not in a fake annoying way either... haha... and oh yeah, I'm not really a hug person (although sometimes i try harder to be one) and I have always been grateful that ryan was never pushy about this.. he and I have this unspoken understood agreement that a pat on the shoulder means the same thing.... thanks for that
My funniest memory wasn't when you were technically present... i was watching regina beau entertainment specifically and i saw you acting like a raptor and i made them rewatch that thing like 3 times because it cracked me up so much... so if jurassic park ever goes on broadway, you surely have a job, my friend.
My favorite memory could actually be considered the funniest as well and luckily it was captured on film. We were at the same christmas party where I received my gift from Kraus. Betsy the quintessential shutterbug was taking many photos while we all looked nice, but boys being boys they couldn't all be obedient like ryan... so jon pinched ryan's butt as the flash went off and this was the result...
simply magnificent!
btw... that's kraus to my right of ryan (the one with the suprised look on his face, if you hadn't figured out that already).... oh dear, I just love my friends.... next shall come a female because i've already written about 3 boys and this is my xanga... so ashley... you're up! *edit* actually a girl was next, mindy.... so mindy then ashley.. yeah sounds good
| Next up: Krizz-ausssssss
Here is a picture of kraus after a really tough day, I know it's amazing that an insect was permitted to attend harding, but he's really smart:
okay, so maybe i lied about the insect part but the only picture of kraus and i makes my neck and chin look like they mutated together and i somehow end up rivaling ugly betty in that picture... so i will not post it because this is still my blog and i refuse to show my ugly side on here... hehe... well physical ugly side. Enough about me... on to Kraus:
First meeting: I don't remember the exact moment that I met Kraus, I am 98% sure that it was in the student center during lunch time. I just remember that suddenly, that vast void inside of me for sarcastic humor was suddenly filled. I liked having him around because he brought a different personality to the table and most of all, he got my jokes and laughed at them! He was also a good person to poke fun at the unusual and unfair things that life throws at us everyday.
First thoughts: I remember thinking that he seemed too friendly for the personal security system- aka spikes- on his backpack... this also made me always double check that he didn't have his backpack on, before hugging him, for i feared i might puncter myself one day.... hehe... maybe i'm being too honest here.
Best memory: I can recall this exact game of apples to apples where kraus placed down the topic "patriotic", i was able to get rid of my "atomic bomb" and win that round simeoustaneously.... I love placing down the most cynical answers I can think of on his turns
Funniest memory: On christmas, our group of friends decided to do our own secret santa gifts. On the night of the party, I saw this carboard box under the tree, it was wrapped in duct tape and had a glittery pink bow on it. I pointed and laughed at it right until it landed on my lap. It was mine... from Kraus. While I tried to open it with a swiss-army knife he prefaced it by saying "I just walked around wal-mart and thought about what a 4-year old would enjoy"... haha.... this is why we are friends.
Man, Kraus, yours was long..... don't get a big head about it okay?
ps. it's not to late to request your own xanga. pps. You will have to wait to see what kraus really looks like, when i post a picture in the other ryan's entry... stay tuned
| first come, first served: IanIan was one of the first people that I ever met at Harding University.... we were members of the best energy group ever led by the infamous jimmy huff...this should explain how awesome it was. I don't remember the first moment that I noticed you, although I am sure it was very soon for you are really really tall with red hair. I do remember though speaking to you during impact. I was having a conversation with a friend about how more boys should wear pink and there you were behind me, in line at juicy bottoms (oooh i miss that place), and you were wearing a pink ben folds shirt... so i decided that was a good enough reason to make a new friend... haha. My favorite memory would have to a medly of sorts: your strange excitement over the vegetable hominey, that crazy bed you and trey built that I am not sure how you ever slept on it, and your former fro... can i petition to bring it back? haha. There it is below, in all its glory. Thanks Ian for being the first victim.
