Update

I thought I should do an update on my xanga blog...nothing really special to report...after having lived in downtown since Easter, my circle of friends has expanded quite unexpectedly..maybe things do happen for a reason...though I am still single, my life is a lot richer than before...I have also joined facebook, so have been spending a bit more time there instead...The summer weather in Toronto is particularly good this year, so I have spending more time outdoor... so I am now seriously looking to buy a place downtown.. hopefully, it will go smoothly...

God! Youtube has definitelty upgraded its facilities. It's very Mac-ish with the other recommendations dominating the menu at the bottom.

Back to the theme, welcome back! Good to see you updating this. I guess the best thing about being single is that one's circle of friends expand. You should enjoy this because once coupled, the number of friends and chances for socialising reduce quite drastically as both begin to carve out a new life. The opportunity cost is the loss of an exponential growth of new friends like you are experiencing, but it does open up the possibility of more intense relationships with a few selected few. I hope these new liaisons bring on new opportunities for you since I know how much you wish to meet your special one.

Lastly, Thank you for sharing this clip. I thought that the clip of Judy crying was during an older program when Teresa died. I was surprised that it was actually more recent. Teresa lived and died a legend, the former in all Chinese speaking parts of the world, and the latter more so in Japan after her death. She has left us with many beautiful memories, marred only by her unhappy personal love life. This program has many Teresa's songs in the Top 10, and by straining my eyes, I can see that she held the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 7th spot with Žž‚Ì—¬‚ê‚ɐg‚ð‚Ü‚©‚¹A•Ê‚ê‚Ì—\Š´A‚‚®‚È‚¢,ˆ¤l respectively. This signifies the love the Japanese still have for her. Do you know how old this program is? Is the plaque at the end for Teresa?

James, I think the show must be quite recent, 'cause Judy was talking about the award(plaque) she(Judy) received from the Taiwanese government... I think Judy said she was one of the 3 people received this recognition because of her achievement in Japan as a Taiwanese(check wikipedia)... The other 2 were Teresa and a baseball player.. Teresa was given this award before her...Judy was crying while watching herself singing Teresa's song(yes, I got that confused initially too)...In the introduction, Judy said she met Teresa long time ago, when Teresa sang the Mandarin version(peking go) of Judy's song(good bye 17).. she said it still felt like yesterday..then she went on to say, now this time, it is her turn to pay tribute to Teresa by singing her number 1 song...

I was also very surprised that many songs from Teresa got voted in the Top 10.. I think this is absolutely incredible as a foreigner to be so successful.. keep in the mind that the Japan Music industry is the second biggest in the world after the US...

James, I was also quite impressed by Judy's rendition of Teresa's song, as I never took Judy as a very serious singer(though I know she can really sing), especially singing enka as she is so "westernized"

BTW, I always think  "tokinonagareru" is a song about Teresa herself, including "Aijin"...

James, if you want to download video clip from youtube.. here is the tip:

you can download YouTube videos easily by going to http://keepvid.com/ then enter the URL of the desired YouTube video in the box. Keepvid will then provide a link where you can download the video stream and save it as an .flv file.

Most video players can't play .flv (Flash Video) files, but there is an excellent freeware player called GOM Player here: http://www.gomplayer.com/ (English). It does a fantastic job playing .flv files.
