| You know you have too much time on your hands when...Now I'm going blogging crazy. Please don't take offense but I found that I like blogger better than xanga. So after my brief stint on xanga, you can read my ramblings at http://katiemayes.blogspot.com/. I'm keeping this xanga though so I can comment on all of your lovely xanga sites. Even if you don't have a blogger or gmail account, you can still comment on my other site so I expect to hear from you!

| Still pregnant...I've never been good with anticipation or suspense. When I was little, I used to read the last chapter of my Nancy Drew books before I read the first chapter so I could know whodunit. It's a strange feeling to know that this baby could come tonight or in two weeks. We have no idea when she's going to make her move and while it's pins and needles to not know, it's fun at the same time.
So far, I've loved my first week off from work. It's been great to catch up on some things I've needed to do for awhile and I've had a spurt of fantastic energy that has been missing for about 8 months. I did the baby's laundry, worked more on her nursery and did some errands that have needed to be done for a long time, including a trip to the BMV yesterday. My driver's license still had our old Muncie address and I've been putting this errand off for exactly one year. Of course, I wait until I'm 10 months pregnant to waddle into the branch for a simple address change but I was determined. It took forever and whenever I was tempted to walk out, I reminded myself that next time, I'll be waiting with an infant. So I sat and waited.
A numb butt, swollen ankles, multiple trips to a gross bathroom and three hours later, I'm finally sitting across from an employee who says, "Ok, I made the change, let's get your picture taken." Duh. Changing anything on your license means you need a new one. I honestly thought to myself, "Maybe I look better than I feel right now" because I enjoy lying to myself.
I promise, I'm not being modest. It literally is the worst picture I've ever taken and I've had some doozies. My face has "filled out" a.k.a. fattened during the pregnancy, I'm wearing glasses because my eyes are too swollen for contacts, my hair is a mess from the 80 degree humidity and I'm exhausted from sitting in a hard plastic chair for hours.
I've procrastinated my whole life because typically I can get away with it and I don't learn a lesson. This time I did. Lesson learned: don't mix pregnancy and the BMV.

| Observation of the day: if swollen enough, the skin on your ankles and feet can touch. Mine are beyond cankles.
This is my last week at work and I'm definitely counting down to Friday. I can't wait to have a week (maybe two) to rest and get some stuff done before the baby arrives. I haven't done much recently other than work during the day and crash on the couch at night. Let's just say I get to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy almost every night (yes, I did that before, but the extent is much greater now). Our house is really an old folks home now.
Other than my Fred Flintstone feet (as my doctor called them), everything is going well with the baby. She's extremely active and loves to wake me up at night with her kicking abilities. We still haven't picked a name but it's between Annie and Madeline/Maddie.
In non-preggo news, I'm very excited about The Office this week. It's new, Jim dresses like Dwight and Michael pulls together an impromptu press conference. As much as I'm thrilled that this is my last week, I'll miss Friday morning recaps with coworkers of the last night's episode and Friday lunchtime viewings of The Office.
Lani, does that count as an update? :)
