    any suggestions?

will wants me to set up a food blog for him since i'm the tech saavy one of the two of us.  he wants to review restaurants on it.  there are so many out there, and i can't think of anything original.  any ideas for names?  both name of the blog and name of the writer?

p.s. will discovered this planet earth series at mar and bry's xmas party and wouldn't stop talking about it.  so i got it for him for xmas, thinking this is such a nerdy gift.  but dude, it rocks!

    mom's day & florida

will and i celebrated mother's day with my mom two weeks ago because i was going to be out of town on mother's day weekend.  we took her to the walt disney hall for an LA Phil concert.  it rocked.  i miss classical music, especially playing the piano.  after that weekend i tried to bust out my old music and play it.

here is me and the mom during intermission, in the pretty patio they have outside.  we both look kinda sleepy (classical music always has that effect on me):

then we took her out to one of our fav. restaurants in pasadena, shaab.  here's will and mom waiting for the food.  we were pretty hungry.  isn't my mom so cute?

on m's day weekend, i went to visit my friend and old roommate allison at her home in florida.  we were too lazy and didn't take any pics of us together, but i did take this one.  she set out breakfast for me on sunday morning.  i slept in while she went to church.  when i came downstairs i found strawberries, apricots, organic granola and my favorite greek yogurt laid out.  with 5 different types of loose leaf green tea and hot water on the stove.  i felt the love through her southern hospitality.

    idol junkie

i've been addicted to 2 things lately: settlers of catan, and american idol.

but i'm going to focus just on idol in this entry.  i can't decide who i want to win.  i like both davids.  they are so different...how can you really pick one?  i think the last show is going to break my heart, no matter who wins.

i kind of want david cook to win so that archie doesn't get tainted by the commercialization of his young self.  archie should just go back to his normal life and go to college.

i even had a dream about idol last night.

    p.s. i love leona lewis's "bleeding love".

    2007

was a year of new experiences and lots of change:

    1. I got a boyfriend.

    2. I left staff.

    3. I moved in with my mom.

    4. I got gym membership.

    5. I started a new blog.

    6. I went to Europe.

    7. I got a new job.

    8. I found a new church.

    9. I take public transportation.

    10. I found a pork dish I like (Hamjibak!).

i think more change is coming in 2008.

    happy new year.

  • public transport is good for my soul

it causes me to rub shoulders with people that i don't normally come in contact with.  young and old, rich and poor, of all kinds.  and we're all doing the same thing.  just trying to get somewhere.

it makes clothing practical.  meaning, i dress to keep warm, wear comfortable shoes for walking, bags convenient for carrying things (which makes it a little harder to be fashion obsessed).

it brings a sense of community, and makes LA just a bit smaller.  i've had conversations with random strangers.  i have found that somehow public transport sort of makes it okay to initiate and interact with strangers.  i also bump into people i know a couple times a week, which is always a treat.

it causes me to let go of control and independence.  i have to revolve my schedule around the train/bus schedule.   and even then, i am privy to power outages, buses breaking down or running late.  also it takes some more planning ahead than driving.

    i'm creating less waste.

    men need lotion too

i was chatting with three guys after church today: an engineer, a college professor and a finance dude.  i noticed that my hands were super dry so i unashamedly busted out my crabtree & evelyn lavender scented lotion to put some on.  to my surprise, three hands immediately popped out in front of me.  i thought they were joking but they weren't.  they all wanted some, and proceeded to contentedly lather it on their hands.

  • escalator etiquette

isn't it common knowledge that if you're just standing on the escalator, you should stand on the right hand side so that traffic can pass on the left?

almost every day, there is someone standing on the left, one step behind a person standing on the right, so that all traffic moving up/down the escalator is blocked.  or they stand right smack in the center.  during rush hour.

i'm still trying to think of a polite way to let people know that they can stand there if they want, but they really should stand on the right side.  c'mon angelenos.
