 New Hampster

coin coll 1

Coin collecting has taken off in this household overnight.  Sorting through quarters for the State Quarter Board the girls have in their room Julia said, "I have New Hampster"!  I smiled.

Daniel is loving his new nickel book, carefully looking through my pocket change for important dates and mint marks.  Fun, fun, fun.

Teamwork

teamwork

I love seeing my children work together.  I couldn't resist a picture of my daughters diligently completing a mundane task like tableclearing and dishwashing/drying.

Teamwork.

They learn it first and foremost in the context of the family and the benefits of learning it early and well persist for a lifetime.  Service and selflessness are the character qualities hammered out on the forge of the family team model.  Older siblings mentoring younger brothers and sisters. I enjoy capturing these encouraging glimpses of my children and I wonder how the Lord will use these daily, routine experiences to build them up into strong fathers and mothers.

God is God

I am amazed that people don't get it.

Two days ago Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue held a time of prayer on the capitol steps asking the Lord to send rain to his drought stricken state.  "We've come together here simply for one reason and one reason only: To very reverently and respectfully pray up a storm," Perdue said.  "God, we need you. We need rain," he prayed.

I told my children last night about the boldness of Gov. Perdue. They were impressed.  I was impressed.  That is the kind of bold humility we need to see and model as Christians.

Our faith is nothing if not accompanied by action.

I waited to see what would happen.  This morning I wrote in my journal, "Bless him, Father.  Answer his prayer and reward his faithfulness with your mercy."  I then wrote a quote from Ps 20:6:

"Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven, with the saving strength of His right hand."

Little rain was predicted beyond Wednesday.  Within two days of his prayer, God answered by sending up to an inch of rain in many hard hit areas.  "It was real intense," Laurel County Sheriff Fred Yaden said. "The winds were really strong, and the rain was coming in gushes."  Of course the media did not give glory to God, but I did!  He controls the wind and the rain, they do His bidding.  Prayer answered right on the front pages of our newspapers!!

Praise God!! He alone is God. He shares His glory with no other.  What a great story to share with my family tonight!  We praise God for His goodness and His mercy.  We need more Sonny Perdues!!

Like Father Like Son

My father brought these pictures and this question to me a week or two ago.

Boys and Their Bottles

The boys drank from their bottles this morning before breakfast.  Note the similarities of sipping and enjoying their favorite beverage.  Always need that "jump start" in the AM from the right formula!
