| | True Love Will Find you in the EndMost of my friends already know that I met Jason Pierce (again) backstage on Monday after the J Spaceman Acoustic Mainlines gig in London. It's hard to blog about it because it felt so dreamlike and strange: Bobby Gillespie and Jason Pierce were chatting, I was being kissed on the cheek by Doggen (a guitarist in Spiritualized, turned keyboardist for this tour) and Jordan was getting us a CD from the opening act. Doggen seemed to think we were old mates, which I may have led him to believe. His playing on "All of My Tears" thrilled me and I told him it was "good to see you again." I'm not sure what "again" I was referring to. We waited for Jason to finish his chat with Bobby (who looked scary!) before accosting him. After the usual "good show, come to DC" chat, I kept hugging Jason. I honestly have no idea what I said, because I felt like I was moving through plasma and I had to put my arm around Jason to stand up! I can see his face clearly in my memory: he was laughing a lot. I'm pretty sure he thinks I am a little off... I cried throughout the show. From the opening "Sitting on Fire" to the impromptu encore of "Oh Happy Day" and in between "Amen" "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space" and "Cool Waves" (and "Lord Can You Hear Me" and "All of My Tears") this was by far the most beautifully perfect gig I have ever been to. I have the setlist and everytime I look at it, I feel like I must have made it all up!! Perfection! I can't imagine this show at the 9:30 Club (which Jason brought up), so I wonder if the next tour will be the band again. OK so that's my attempt at blogging about this most amazing part of my year. Now I have to write up a review for Brooks' music blog! |
