That's so two-faced

Quote of the Day: "There is no cure for birth and death save to enjoy the interval." George Santayana

This Week's Sign of the Apocalypse

Baby with two faces born in India

                                             babytwoface

This baby has a condition called craniofacial duplication, which basically means that it has two faces.

Both sets of eyes blink at the same time, but since the family declined a CT scan it's not known about the state of the child's internal organs.

The baby's being worshipped by local villagers as the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess.

A family portrait:

Of course, being two-faced isn't as rare as you'd think. I used to have a friend who was like that . . .

And then there's this guy:

Not that guy,

What's Goin' On

Quote of the Day: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Thomas Edison

It's been a long time since I've posted  (about three weeks?), probably the longest break I've ever had.

Here's what's been going on:

-- My band Leadwood Folk has just one more song to finish and then our album is done (it will be anywhere from 10-12 songs). Instead of naming a release date, I 'll just put it like this: If we get the last song done this week (and it's already about 75% done) then more than likely we will have copies of it by May 1st.

                                                       frontart

-- My grandfather has had acute myelogenous leukemia since September of 2006. It's a very awful disease to say the least, and he's had around seven different chemotherapy treatments lasting one or two weeks a piece; I think he's spent somewhere close to two hundred days in the hospital since he was diagnosed. Chemotherapy isn't helping anymore and he's in hospice, so I've been going home to Missouri a lot lately to see him.

Here's a picture of me and my sister Sarah with my grandfather while he was still in the hospital:

                                hospital

It's pretty sad, I think that's why every song I've written in the last few months has been depressing or lovelorn. The "lovelorn" part really isn't a story for the Internet, I guess. At least not  for now.

Not for now,

How does this happen???

Woman sat on toilet for two years

It also took two years for her boyfriend to alert the authorities that something was wrong.

They had to remove her from the bathroom on the toilet because her skin had grown into the toilet. And the muscles in her legs had atrophied.

But there are worse places you could be stuck, I guess. At least you'd be in the right spot when you needed to "go," right?

                                womanontoilet

Lame. (by the way, you should never type "woman on toilet" into a Google image search . . .)

-----

Last weekend my sister Rachel and her husband Erik visited; they live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Here are three of the sixty-eight pictures they took:

                               3081

That's my sister Rachel with me in the background. We're in the Ryman Auditorium.

                               0382

That's my sister, this time with Roy Acuff and Minnie Pearl.

                               308

That's Erik and I with two horses that occasionally perform (they did later that night).

Not on the toilet,

Keep it clean, ladies!

Quote of the Day: "It's a rare person who wants to hear what he doesn't want to hear." Dick Cavett

This Week's Sign of the Apocalypse -- prostitute-free edition

Study finds 1 in 4 teenage girls has an STD

Girls really DO have cooties, it turns out . . .              cooties

College-educated people live longer

Why is this a sign of the end of the world? I think the more important question is "Why am I asking myself questions?"

                                                          question-mark

Duh. Because life is full of question, silly.

Silly,

Ryan King

Getting voted off the island . . .

Quote of the Day: "When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it: admit it, learn from it, and don't repeat it." Bear Bryant

Today's big story is whether a woman or a black man will represent the Democratic party in the presidential election.

That's old news, though (does anyone really care about the fate of the free world? are we even free anymore???).

I'm more concerned about whether a former gay stripper can win American Idol.

                                   davidhernandez

Actually, I'm not sure if he's gay or not. But he did "dance" in a strip club that catered to guys.

So, does he really have a chance now of reaching the Pinnacle of Pop that is winning American Idol?

Let's be serious, this is America. He'll be gone in a couple weeks.

I'll bet we won't be able to say the same about Barack or Hillary, though . . .

                                  barackhillary

Betting,

Ryan King
