Looking back at 2007- the year of growth and change

It's the new year now.  Happy 2008 everyone.  I hope 2008 is better than 2007.  As for me, I can't say 2007 was horrible.  I've endured a lot of experiences which helped me mature, and grow away from my father's daughter into my own person.

They were experiences which other people probably endure earlier in life, but due to the tight grasp nature of my parents, who wouldn't even let me attend an university 2 hours away because it was too far, I've refrained on maturing until I had completed my school work first.  I can honestly say that although creative writing as a major won't help me be high in demand at getting somewhere in the workplace, it has helped me considerablly.  I wanted to thank the professors at UCR for preparing me to bite criticism, hold it, absorb it, and use it to my advantage, rather than taking it negatively or rejecting it as I've seen many others around me do this year.  I also wanted to thank them for helping me realize that I need to grow apart from my family and pursue an adult lifestyle.

Here is what I've done this year

graduated from UCR
moved away from home
lived on my own-- no roommates, no family, just me
got my first job, as mediocre as it is
paid my own rent, food, amenities, and 100% of expenses
bought by first car (thanks to Drew for scouting out the deal)
learned to drive and navigate without someone else in the car
learned to find alternate routes when the road is closed
closed my family tied bank account at Hanmi Bank
opened my own bank account in my own name at BOA
paid insurance, gas, used a credit card
moved in with Darren's mom
finally decided on what I'm going to do, now that I'm done with college.
spent my first thanksgiving/ xmas/ new years away from home.
spent my first thanksgiving/ xmas/ new years with darren.

and here is the resolution/ goal list for 2008

study for/ take/ pass CBEST (Feb. 9, wish me luck)
study for/ take/ pass CSET
get jobs related to education
look for and apply for scholarships
save money/ work more hours
apply for teaching credential
stop eating pizza
run 4 days a week (I found a great, long, uphill street I can run on)
eat more healthy food
drink more water
let darren have more time with his friends (I spend way too much time with him)
visit my friends (I miss you guys)
write a page a day
don't give up on this novel.  finish it.
always be courteous and polite to bitches

foreign pizza

at work, today, they trained us to make the new, special pizza (you guys can see if for yourselves when the commercials come out) when i started pondering about odd pizzas-- especially odd pizzas overseas.  when i went to korea, i was awed by their kimchi burgers (burgers made with packed kimchi fried rice instead of bread), but i never visited the local pizza hut or dominos.

i did a little online searching and found out pizzas overseas go much weirder than sauceless/ cheeseless anchovie pizzas.

look at this korean "whole shrimp cheesy bites pizza" for example.  it comes with 28 whole shrimp with tails baked into the crust!  (i just hope the heads aren't included)

japanese pizza toppings include kimchi, bbq sauce, lobster, abalone, potato, tuna, corn, curry sauce, macaroni, cherry shrimp, squid, dried benito, octopus, cabbage, yakisoba, cabbage, wieners, scrambled eggs and tomato ketchup, mayonnaise, nori, teriyaki sauce, broccoli, asparagus, boiled egg, cabbage curry, camembert cheese, spaghetti, cod roe, korean bbq, spiced ginger, curry powder, dried fish flakes, raisons, eel, salmon, tater tots, potatos, eggplant, scallops, welsh onions, egg yolk, fried egges, entire chicken breast

also, at japanese dominos they have cheese fondu dipping sauce and tiramisu as sides, instead of ranch dip and cinna stix

Alright nerds and wanna-bees, break out that TI-82 and get to calculatin'.

So how nerdy are you??

0-35: Cut me a break rookie, go hang out with the jocks and the cheerleaders...what are you even doing reading a blog?

36-55: You're somewhat geeky, not quite a nerd - but you probably use words like "w00t" or "pwned", and you've probably beaten a few video games. You might even sling a little bit of HTML or some photoshop.

56-75: You're not a full-bodied nerd yet, but you can consider yourself a geek, quite possibly even an N.I.T(nerd in training) at this point. You're probably a fan of Monty Python, playing Risk, and are known as the person in your group of friends who fixes computers.

76-95: Congratulations, nerd. You've made it. Consider yourself a prime pocket-protecting Poindexter. You can hang out with the likes of Urkel, Screech, Minkus and Jason, from Foxtrot.

96-110+: Wow. You're nerdtastic. You probably speak Klington, have an internet girlfriend, find programming and math a great way to spend a Friday night, and suffer from a lack of vitamin D, since you never get any sunlight. You also enjoy reading or writing fan-fiction. I highly suggest some sort of socialization. This much nerdery might bad  for your physical or emotional growth and well-being.

Darren= 67

Me= 85

conclusion- i'm nerdier than darren.  he's only a nit

and when i sleep when darren sleeps, i end up waking up at 4:30 in the morning.  boo.

and boo, nerd, reminds me of nerds candies, which remind me that i ran out of trick or treat candy....

btw, this is where i got the quiz  http://www.xanga.com/theblackspiderman/621891765/so-you-wanna-be-a-nerd.html
