| | Looking back at 2007- the year of growth and change
It's the new year now. Happy 2008 everyone. I hope 2008 is better than 2007. As for me, I can't say 2007 was horrible. I've endured a lot of experiences which helped me mature, and grow away from my father's daughter into my own person.
They were experiences which other people probably endure earlier in life, but due to the tight grasp nature of my parents, who wouldn't even let me attend an university 2 hours away because it was too far, I've refrained on maturing until I had completed my school work first. I can honestly say that although creative writing as a major won't help me be high in demand at getting somewhere in the workplace, it has helped me considerablly. I wanted to thank the professors at UCR for preparing me to bite criticism, hold it, absorb it, and use it to my advantage, rather than taking it negatively or rejecting it as I've seen many others around me do this year. I also wanted to thank them for helping me realize that I need to grow apart from my family and pursue an adult lifestyle.
Here is what I've done this year
graduated from UCR moved away from home lived on my own-- no roommates, no family, just me got my first job, as mediocre as it is paid my own rent, food, amenities, and 100% of expenses bought by first car (thanks to Drew for scouting out the deal) learned to drive and navigate without someone else in the car learned to find alternate routes when the road is closed closed my family tied bank account at Hanmi Bank opened my own bank account in my own name at BOA paid insurance, gas, used a credit card moved in with Darren's mom finally decided on what I'm going to do, now that I'm done with college. spent my first thanksgiving/ xmas/ new years away from home. spent my first thanksgiving/ xmas/ new years with darren.
