T Dot Stand Up!

"Man I promise, when i get old enough, I'm a buy you a limo, and we gon go to Red Lobster... and you can get all the all the lobster tails that you want, cuz I'm a be rich... yea I'm a be rich."

- Consequence "Don't Forget'Em"
*anyone know what movie this quote was pulled from? Sounds so familiar*

Looks like it's been awhile since I've updated.

In case everyone's wondering, I'm doing ok. I was able to pass border patrol and this American has not been deported... yet. So I've spent a week and a half in Toronto at this point, and overall it's been an interesting experience. I think my lil bro said it best when he stated, "It feels like Bizarro USA". You think you're still in the states but you're not. The signs are in English and French, and people dress a little differently too. And EVERYONE SAYS "EH?" IT'S NOT A STEREOTYPE, IT'S THE TRUTH!

Anyways, life has been hectic with work and more or less trying to build your new life up in a new country. It's very fortunate that Canadians are friendly towards US currency, which made the transition that much easier. Finally found a pad in downtown Toronto, which in case some are wondering, looks like this:

http://www.sohomet.com

Ok, it's not that nice, but it is in the same building. It's kind of a small but cozy pad. I’m happy with it. Next up is a cell phone. Hey did anyone realize that voicemail and caller ID are extra services in cell phone plans in Canada? I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard that. Oh yea, no National plans either. And if you leave the country, you’re paying the full cancellation fee. Honestly the plans are a bit cheaper, but then with adding the “extra services”, it comes out to be about the same. This is the kind of adjustment I’m talking about. *sigh*

Other than that, life consists of about work and sleep here. Can’t complain though, makes the time go by fast. I honestly got homesick rather fast, because, well, Toronto =/= NYC. Or even NJ. I think it’s just going to take some adjusting to. This is not a hate on Canadians entry, although that is fun. Just seriously, it’s amazing how some place only 8 hours away from home is that much different. That and life without a car makes things interesting. Maybe in time when I’m about to go mad, I’ll bring the Lambda mobile back up if it is even able to make it up.

Apologies for the boring entry, I will spicen it up with photos as they come in. Life is good honestly, I’m just going through a good amount of adjustments being in a new country and living on my own. :b

Haven't wrote in a while, but looks like everything's official. For most of my friends, I think you know what I'm talking about. If not, they say pictures tell a thousand words, so here's a thousand words for you:

Alright, that was two thousand words. Sue me. :b Don't worry guys, I'll be back like crack so don't get a heart attack.

New York Comic Con A Week Later

So yes, it's about that time again, where comic convention season kicks off. First convention of the year: New York Comic Con. Great time, got to meet alot of artists, stay motivated, and got a lot of good advice. My portfolio review basically summed up to this: You are a good storyteller, now learn to draw. :T Lots of work to do!

Highlights:

- Kyle Baker offering to review my portfolio. The man is a 5 time Eisner and 4 time Harvey winner (the Oscars of comics) The fact the guy still has time to look over my stuff is just flattering to know.

- Hayden Patiennerre was also present (the cheerleader from Heroes) Looks the same in person as she does on camera. Minus the cheerleader outfit. I was very tempted to bumrush her table screaming "Save the cheerleader save the world!" but managed to keep my composure.

- Gary Coleman. Yes, Mr. Watchu Talkin Bout Willis. When I passed by, his table was empty. :b

Not So Cool

- Waiting in line for AN HOUR for Rob Liefeld for an autograph, and being a no show.

- Another long ass line for Jeff Smith of Bone fame. I got smart and left this line. :D And got a free Bone tshirt to go with that

- Inexorbant long lines for Marvel artists. Blah, I already got my autograph with Jim Lee and a picture. I'm good to go.

And yes, of course, everyone wants to the see the pictures:

The line. Keep in mind this was after waiting in line from 39th Street. (Jacob Javitts is on 34th)

Some goblin vs some anime character

What comic convention is complete without the Storm Trooper pic. Darth Vader was in the house too but I was too lazy to take a pic with the crew

The line was too long for him. Plus you had to get a ticket. I did want to shout "Nice cameo as the bus driver on Heroes!" though.

Pikachu. And yes, that is a full grown adult next to him. That's how large the outfit was. I don't think the suit had eye holes either, because he had to be escorted by a person everywhere he went.

I don't know which Transformer this is. :b

All in all a great time. Hope to see more at San Diego Comic Con!
