well i'm here at work and it's a little slow so i thought i'd write.  i had a dream last night that i was going back to reynosa to visit my friends there, and i was so excited!  almost a little disappointed when i woke up and it wasn't true.  maybe i should visit.  things are getting a little better at work.  they say winter is really busy, which is good because i sometimes get tired of busywork and boredom.  there's a work trip to nicaragua in january with my housechurch that i'll probably go on, so that should be fun.  i would love to be able to travel more and see more new places.  i went backpacking last weekend at the red river gorge in kentucky, and that was fun.  we got to see some beautiful views.  i think i should spend more time in nature, it makes you feel more peaceful and a little closer to the one who created it all.  i'm looking forward to this weekend, and just having time to relax a little, and spend some time with family.  life's been a little busy recently.  we had a troll party for my roomate, Lindsay, on wednesday.  it was her birthday yesterday and she has a ton of trolls because she collected them when she was younger.  so we made troll hair-hats and put all her trolls on display.  pretty funny!  she wasn't super surprised because i guess she saw some of them from outside, but it was still fun to do :)  well i guess i'll get going.  i'm at work.  later!

hey, i thought it was about time i wrote something again.  i've been at this job for a couple weeks, and i like it alright, but it's been pushing me to think about what i really want to do.  i don't want to be doing exactly this for the rest of my life.  it's like medical interpreting is a good fit for me, but what i really want to be doing is direct ministry.  and i think in another country but i'm trying to wait for God to lead me into that.  so for now it's interpreting and i like it well enough.  except i'm feeling a little sick right now.  i think i might have caught a few germs from the little ones.  today is so nice because i'm not going in until 2pm.  i switched with a coworker for day shift, so i got to wake up and make breakfast and check email and all that stuff i don't usually have time to do.  i would work out too, but might not since i'm feeling kindof sick.  i woke up around 1am and realized i didn't have my alarm on, so i set it for 6:30 like normal, and then didn't realize until i was in the shower that i wasn't going to work in the morning.  so i put my jamms back on and went straight back to bed.  so nice!  i miss my days off at the other job.  i was really spoiled with the long weekends and all.  alright, well i think i'll go read now or something.  later!

new job

hey all!  guess who just got a new full-time job?!  I was just given a position in the same building I work in now, but on the pediatrics floor, as a medical interpreter.  I'm so excited!  I'll be starting officially on June 2nd, and orienting the week before that.  It's a day-shift position, so i'll probably be going in from 7:30-4:30.  It might hurt for a while to get up that early, but it'll be so worth it.  Yay!

I’ve been tagged!

Rules: After posting these rules, each player proceeds to list 8 relatively random facts/habits about himself/herself. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, leaving them a comment on their blogs to let them know.

1. i once shucked corn with my bare toes.

2. i have a signature dance move that you will only see if you're very lucky...it's called the shake dance.

3. the best meal i cook is fajitas, or fajita quesadillas. (make yourself a dang quesadilla!)

4. i've taken up running, and i hope to enter a mini-marathon someday.

5. do NOT mess with me when i'm hungry or sleepy!  Enough said.

6. my current favorite color is vintage green.

7.  current favorite musicians:  damien rice, corrine bailey ray, and becoming more of a counting crows fan

8. i am now reading 3 books:  "Paula" by Isabel Allende (ironically, i borrowed it from a coworker named Paula...  Or not so ironic?).  "Searching for God Knows What" by Donald Miller, and "Mountains Beyond Mountains" by Tracy Kidder.  And I will finish all 3.

Probably all the people i would tag have already been tagged, so if you see this and want to participate, do it! it's pretty fun.

So we went to Iowa City.  It was pretty sweet.  We didn't get to talk to anyone about the school, but Josh took me around to see the buildings and the different parts of the city and it's pretty nice.  We got to check out an art festival and listen to some bands on Saturday.  The weather was beautiful the whole time.  The drive back and forth was horribly boring though.  There's no change  in scenery pretty much the entire 5 hours.  I got to meet a couple of his friends that live there and we went to their church, which is a church plant, so it's pretty small, but i liked it because it seemed like everyone was very genuine about their faith, and eager to live it out practically.  That's what i like about the church i go to here.  so we did that and then we went out to a mexican restaurant for lunch and then i had a crash course in cricket!  can you believe he got me to play cricket in my skirt and sandals?!  it was fun though, and his friends are really nice.  Iowa City is a little bit like Broad Ripple in some ways.  It's a college town so there are a lot of people around my age.  A lot of people are health/fitness conscious, and so there are typically more people out running or riding bikes.  Things like that.  The campus is beautiful too.  i'll keep you posted.  Please keep praying for my sister and her family.  The Lord is our help in time of trouble.  I pray that they will know that in a deeper way and find rest in Him.   Please pray for Josh too, that he will have wisdom about the future, and that he will be able to find peace in the midst of the craziness that rules his life right now.  His committee meeting to approve the topic for his dissertation is on May 9th, so pray that the committee members will be gracious with him, and for the preparation time before that day.  He's running the mini marathon downtown this Saturday too!  So much all at once.  catch up more later!
