八月頭...去唔去北京探啲小朋友好呢?
一個 weekend 應該唔會阻到啲乜

主要因為佢有求於我，想我教佢debate

全年一個大獎都冇

有時又會安慰自己，嗰年team入面有大賽經驗嘅得我一個
其實每一場都真係打得好辛苦

waaa can't believe how long i haven't been here

let's see...i'm so old now

had my bday in Beijing with the sweetest kids on earth

they got me a surprise bday cake while i was busy wiping my tears off to say goodbye to them after staying 4 days in the orphanage

then i flew

then i spent 3 days in someone's home sweet home, indulged in DS temporarily

then i went home on 9 apr, finally starting to unpack

which took......more time than i expected

exams in less than 25 days

exams are just evil evil evil evil

they make me re-read the Northanger Abbey and HP for the n-th time

they make ALL tv series so captivating

they make wandering from my room to kitchen so necessary that im doing it once every 3 minutes

they even make drinking water the most interesting thing to do in front of my desk

...

i have to stop being a procrastinating freak

thanks to those who called to check on me and listened to my latest stupid indulgence hahahahahahaha

i will seriously doubt my intelligence if the indulgence continues after my exams...it's too 15-year-old-like. yuck.

...it's that time of the year again...i need to shut myself in hell till mid-June

but then im now wandering in front of the door...the all-evil PROCRASTINATION
is paying its annual visit to my life.

i have played online Spades for 2 hours early this morning, re-watched the entire Oscar (including "the road to oscar" and the red carpet), pretending to be interested in all taglines from Ellen DeGeneres (she's real good btw). Editted a project homework for someone, helped my sis to figure out her chinese instrument exam, looked for tour to Beijing in April...

can someone cure / kill me?

this is really getting psychotic.

DEAREST DGS GIRLS,

If you don't have time to read through the below, in short, please send your comments regarding the redevelopemnt of DGS (if possible, with concrete suggestions on how to develop our 1 Jordan Road campus without having to tear down something so close to our hearts) to School Council Member Ms Stephanie Cheung at dgsrebuild@gmail.com

This is not a scam because I know Ms Cheung in person and unlike some other people, she DOES listen.

This might not change anything in the end, but I'll definitely send sth in. Just because I can't risk regretting for the rest of my life knowing that I have done nth to preserve the place that holds all my most precious memories.

Please, please take action. It doesn't matter if we don't have ingenius suggestions - Anyone has more than enough reasons to speak up as long as you can't bear the idea of having DGS redeveloped in a manner so rushing and disrespectful to the long-standing and valued spirits.

Dear DGS people,

As we all know that our school is trying to pull down the buildings and rebuild a new DGS. There are voices from the graduates indicating the dislike of such idea. One of the members from the General Committee of the school, Ms. Stephanie Cheung, has kindly agreed to listen to comments from the graduates. (Check the DOGA website if you want know if this is a scam. Ms Cheung's name is on the list for DOGA)

I hereby attach the message from Ms. Cheung's message to us,

"Hm... understood. We're tearing it down, so that we can rebuild into a bigger and hopefully more attractive campus, as girls are fighting over rehearsal and sports space. The hall is not big enough, not enough classrooms etc. I appreciate this is a most important issue for all past, present and future students. That's why, for the first time for over 40 years, I'm standing as General Committee member for the DOGA, so that I can have a 2nd voice over the building. Junior School has already asked every student to write/draw what they believe to be their ideal school. Perhaps you can ask your friends to email to me what their dream school should look like, with what facilities etc. Then I can try to persuade the authorities to incorporate these ideas. "

People, it's time for us to do something. Ms Cheung has a say, and she listens. Try to write down concrete comments, and send them to the abovementioned email. Spread this around to your friends ! At least we, graduates, have a channel to reflect how graduates think about the rebuilding of our School !!!!!

As I read recent correspondence on this subject, I can't help but feel rather helpless and let down every time. Helpless because we know too well that we matter but little. Let down because this was done with none of the style that characterized us, with none of the eloquence that set us apart. In a way, I must concur that it had to be done. That our school (with or without taking in more students) needs more facilities and a more efficient use of what space we have in our little triangular niche at 1 Jordan Road. It would however, have been much better if (1) there had been wider, more sincere and more emphatic (transparent, high profile, obvious, whatever word they all mean the same) consultation and introduction/ elaboration on the idea; (2) we had been offer more convincing woes for our faith and confidence (judging from track records, quality of 'new' buildings that have been erected, contingency plans, tone of announcement and response), if we had a better reason to give our blessing, etc.

I feel deeply for my alma mater. That its constructs are not merely physical. They are images that form an integral part of our memory, but more importantly, the architecture stands for the heritage that we have been handed down. The historical strife to protect and how we are ever ready to maintain them represents none but our commitment to the quality it stands for, our eternal gratitude to those who have sowed for our harvest. And in all its splendour and beauty, it illustrates our quest for ever greater heights and that we will never settle for less. Hence the scraping of buildings so pregnant with meaning is rather problematic. The matter is thus extremely sensitive, in light of the very strong bonds that all of us have found with our mother school, and must be dealt with utmost care and sensitivity. The new project must be able to embody all that meaning, in addition to visions of the future, in addition to concerns with catching up with current technology. We must not submit ourselves to the follies of buying into trends too blindly. Let not computers and stone-walled buildings be mutually exclusive, let not advanced lighting, air conditioning and new PA systems preclude the possibility of a tall dignified edifice, a new hall worthy of our affiliation and our daily pilgrimage. Let us not turn ourselves into common looking, pastel coloured, and rectangular blocks. Let us always remember who we are. Let us remember the pride (and if it verges on arrogance once in a while, SO BE IT) not only in our competitions, and in our dealings externally, but remember it as we seek to reconstruct and better ourselves, i.e. in our own internally. Remember the DGS spirit in Interschool swimming, athletics, music festival, debate, drama, and what not, but also remember it in our encounters with those of the same family. The DGS identity is not a facade with which we impress others, it is meant to be THE IDENTITY we accept for our own. As we look to the future, we must never ever leave tradition behind. And by that I mean WORTHY traditions, not petty ones.

I feel deeply, to the extent that I don't really care if it's a scam. I don't really care even though I know the plans will go ahead, and it will take a miracle to get them to step back and work out a better plan. I just think it's the right thing to do, to voice your opinion. That even if it won¡¦t change a thing, there are principles close to one's heart which one must stand up and speak up for. There are things which you believe so firmly in that we mustn¡¦t' submit to its antithesis. There are beliefs worth uttering even if your utterances is bound to fall on deaf ears. Even if I can't change it, I can't bring myself to accept it all so tamely. Because for me, I see it as a duty to myself to speak up and do my part, however insignificant. Because for me, I have accepted the identity as my own.
