i need to learn to not say things like 'things can only better cause they can't get worse'. well apparently, they can. but then again, theres always someone who's doing worse right? poor soul.

this year, this semester, has been some of the toughest times i've ever had. either that or i'm just being super emotional. i think more than anything else i've learned two things. probably more but two stick out in my mind at the moment: treasure your friends & it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks.

treasure your friends: ok, so i've been so many of my friends through so much shit. thanks so much for understanding and being there especially when i'm breaking down from trying to do a million things at the same time. ok, not a million, come on 69 units + president + taing + sleeping, eating, having a life doesn't seem like much right? i was an emotional wreak. but having people there who cared helped more than i can even explain. for me, it was learning to live with one, learning to live apart from another, and how friendship is really different from a relationship. wow not singleing people out huh. =p

doesn't matter what everyone else thinks: people can say all the sh*t they want and you know what, i could care less. why are you trying to bring down other people? who the hell do you think you are helping? just because you are having a bad f*ck*ng day doesn't mean you can take it out on everyone else. no ones perfect, i'm far from it, but a simple APOLOGY goes pretty damn far. people can spread all the rumors they want but in the end, at least you know who your true friends are, and who you can really trust. its just dissappointing to have a respect for someone and have them throw it away.

in the end, life goes on right.

school started. booo. is always sad to see summer come to a close, no more nice warm sunny days or hanging out with friends and family back home, but i usually look forward to the new school year. things are def getting better now but i was pretty stressed the first couple weeks. 69 units of undergrad cs and grad courses, TAing for general robotics, president of SDC, and trying to work out a relationship jus didn't work out too well. things are getting better though despite the power outage!! Classes are settling into a routine, even if that routine involves an insane amout of work sun/mon/tues and nothing the rest of the week. I'm enjoying TAing and running my organization more and more. those definetly have to do with the people i get to work with more than anything else.

As for roselawn, its been lots of fun, even w/out a/c. i cook almost three meals a day... ok well two. but you'd be surprised to hear that one of them is breakfast. we've been trying to go out on thursday nites to matrix and have been successful so far. the only thing bad is i miss my old roomie =( after two years of being used to each others every single habit i think its been hard on both of us to readjust.

All in all, i'm thankful for all my friends. its really sad to think that we're seniors, that it's our last year here. even worse to think that i may never see some people after this year. (that means to keep in touch guys) i guess all i can do now is make the most of it and take things one day at a time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VAL!

Sunday, July 11, 2004

something for all cmu ppl to holla bout... so i attended this executive welcome at Boeing for all us interns where my boss's boss's boss's boss's boss attended =) hes vp of airlift and tankers which has the entire C-17 program under it. anyway the interns got a chance to ask him questions about what kind of qualifications it takes to rise up to his level and what kind of experience. he was talking about how most senior managers nowadays have at least two masters degrees and how it doesn't really matter where u get ur degree... except if its some impressive school like an mba from harvard.

then he goes for example, if i wanted a software engineer, i would pick the person from carnegie mellon!  cause we are known to have an impressive program! its just nice to know that ppl do kno what we're about even if its not 'mit' and that we do get the appreciation for the hard work we do that we deserve.

val and i went down to san diego yesterday. fun times. we took the train for the first time and the guy running around collecting tickets was asking why we were going down. val said that we were goin down for a little get together for her and a couple of friends' birthdays. the guy was like, well if its ur bday, you gotta come up and ride in front =) so we ended up in the front train with the drivers the whole ride down. they even let us honk the horn... er. . is it even called a horn on a train? anyway, it was an awesome time.

a bunch of us went to the california science center today. they are having a special exhibit of... um... plastinated human bodys. it was interesting let me tell u. the bio majors were nuts about it. check it out http://www.californiasciencecenter.org/Exhibits/Weingart/BodyWorlds/BodyWorlds.php

exciting week huh? =)
