Gives me a physical picture of what it looks like to discipline myself for the purpose of godliness and the awesome response you get after a hard core work out at God’s word.
the feelingS you get when your favorite sports team are a couple touchdowns behind in the last moments of the 4th quarter; you feel defeated because there’s no way, just no way that they’ll tie or even win the game…but in the last seconds…they score a touchdown in and in the very very last seconds, they get the turnover, score and get the extra point! You feel on top of the football world! and if all that doesn't happen-- you feel like you're in the depths of despair.
Shows me how feelings are so static, shows me how the conditions of varying situations have the potential to dictate my demeanor, shows me my lack of sensibility in those moments, shows me that even in watching football I must watch it to the GLORY OF GOD!

Reveals to me how comfortable I am and how much I desire to be comfortable. Thus causing me to consider is it truly “well with my soul” if the comforts of life are taken away, or the storms come rushing in. It also reveals to me truly how the heavens declare the handiwork of the Lord.
