Dear Nissan,

There are pros and cons in utilizing computer technology to monitor and control our cars. Certainly, convenience and reliability should be the pros. But, that is not the case with my car. I drove my Maxima for five years and I bought it new since 2001. I was told from my dealer that my air meter and O2 sensor have already malfunctioned and they are only six years old. Is it a coincidence or a hoax that every time I take my car for a checkup at the dealer, things needs to be replaced rather than to be fixed? What a waste of materials and a waste of skilled laborers!

Last year, I was told that my belt needs to be replaced and so I trusted my Nissan Dealer to have it replaced. In that month, all the lights turned on and then off after I restarted the car. Twice I started the car in search for the same warning, but nothing showed up. So, without any further precautions, the car was taken out for a third drive and suddenly all the lights turned on and the car was completely down. We realized that the belt was twisted. Surely, operating on a computer-based system is not that reliable after all (and the same case for my Nissan dealer).

I regretted for purchasing a car from Nissan because of the unpredictability of my car, the high maintenances, its over priced fees, and the poor services from my dealer. The last thing I wanted is to know that I am leaving the mogul Nissan factory three-and a-half hours later with problems still unresolved and another paint scratch to top it off. I hope that it is not the case for the rest of the Nissan dealers and factories.

I think it is a disadvantage for consumers to choose from cars that have the same operating systems. I think it is more consumers friendly if people have the flexibility to choose from cars that operates on computers and those that don't.
