  • Sorry for being MIA...

It has been a busy for the past couple of weeks!  As previously posted, my husband came home on June 20 for two weeks, so we have been focused on spending plenty of time together!!

June 23-27 was VBS for our church.  The 'big kids' (1st-6th) had an 'Ultimate Adventure' which was Indiana Jones themed.  In the preschool 3yrs-5yrs, our theme was 'God at Work', we squeezed the 7 days of creation into 5 days!!  On June 27, I interviewed with Pine Bluff school district.  My first choice would be to teach in White Hall, but they do not have any openings for the coming up year.  I interviewed for a 1st grade position...after teaching Kindergarten for four years, I am not so sure about moving up...but it will be okay.  I have a follow-up interview with the Superintendent on Monday at 9:30 a.m.(I would appreciate your prayers!)  I am pretty confident that the follow-up will come with a job offer.  It is only a 10 minute drive and it is a $5000 raise from my position in Dumas...also a raise because I will only drive about 10 miles instead of 50 miles, I will not be spending nearly as much on gas!!  Well I need to get off here...Hubby flies back to Iraq tomorrow, so we are going to squeeze as many memories as we can into today!!  Have a blessed weekend!

  • A little update...

My husband made it home Friday evening.  He was not supposed to home until 10:45...but he was a man on a mission!  As soon as he touched down in Dallas and could get off the plane he put his name on the standby list for every flight out of Dallas to Little Rock.  A 6 hour layover in Dallas was NEVER his plan.  Thankfully, it was also God's plan because he called me at 5pm and told me to be at the airport at 6:30!  Now, Becca had softball closing ceremonies at 7...she really wanted Daddy to be there.  Can you so we flew out of Little Rock in my little grey mustang?!  Lucky for us there was a play-off game in the 16 and under division, so closing ceremonies were delayed 30 minutes.  We get to the ball field and we can't find Becca anywhere!  We find most of her team, but no Becca!  Next thing you know a blur of lime green and purple tackles my husband.  You guessed it...we found her!  BTW, Becca's team took 2nd place for the 12 and under fast-pitch division.  That is a big accomplishment, they are a relatively young team, with only four players moving up to 16u next year!  Okay, so that is all of my news...I hope everyone has a wonderfully blessed day!

  • My husband will be home tomorrow!!

I am busy busy today getting my house cleaned up.  I went grocery shopping yesterday, the cabinets and fridge are stocked with the things hubby likes to eat best!  My neighbor came over yesterday and mowed and weedeated my yard and it looks wonderful!!

I just had a thought...My husband is coming home after being in Iraq for 3 months.  I have cleaned the house, had the yard work done, and even bought his favorite things at the grocery store.  Likewise, we do the same thing when we know we are having company...Do you do the same thing to prepare for God?  Is his dwelling place in you heart ready to receive Him?  Have you 'dusted and swept' out the remnants of your old life in preparation for the new?  Ephesians 4:22-24 states "throw off your old evil nature and your former way of life, which is rotten through and through, full of lust and deception.  Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes.  You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God's likeness-righteous, holy, and true.  (NLT)  Are you making the daily conscious commitment to throw off your old life and put on the new?  I know I am not seeing as much change as I would like in my life.

Romans 6:6 says Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives.  We are no longer slaves to sin. (NLT)  Before we were saved, we were slaves to our sinful nature, but once we are saved we can choose to live for Christ.

Are the choices I am making in my daily life reflective of living for Christ?
Do my words, actions, and daily choices reflect the light of Jesus?

Wow!  Not what I had in mind when I started this post...but it really got me thinking about where my spiritual walk is headed.  Have a wonderfully blessed day!

  • A Military Wife's Prayer...

    A Military Wife's Prayer.

Give me greatness of heart to see,
The difference between duty and his love for me.
Give me understanding so that I may know,
When duty calls him, he must go.
Give me a task to do each day,
To fill the time when he's away.
When he's in a foreign land,
Keep him safe in Your loving hand.
And Lord, when duty is in the field,
Please protect him and be his shield.
And Lord when deployment is so long,
Please stay with me and keep me strong.
