| Tomorrow is June 21, a special day. Why is it a special day, you may ask. Maybe it’s because it is the day before Mimi’s birthday (happy 19th, Mimers!!)… or maybe because…
HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX
comes out, FINALLY!!!!!!!! Whoohoo!!! I cannot wait! It’s going to be longer, darker, and hopefully, Remus Lupin will come back, that sexy werewolf of a man! Dennis and I had a discussion on who would die- he says it’s gonna be one of the Weasley’s… hmm.. I don’t know. I think maybe Charlie. Or Ginny? The suspense!!! Although, last time J.K. Rowling said a "main character" died and he really wasn’t a main character…
I just came back from Border’s, looking for a gift for Mimi, and let me just say, it was packed. There were all of these little kids with Potter gear: Harry glasses with the tape on the bridge, Griffindor colors of Crimson and Gold, lightning scars on their foreheads, capes, wizard hats, wands, ties, and best of all, they all had little stuffed animal Hedwigs! It was adorable! Even the grown ups were wearing Potter gear. There’s a lot of people waiting for 12:01 tonight, but Mimi and I are going in tomorrow bright and early to buy it. They better have 2 more copies left, dammit!
I finally finished reading Golden Comp-ASS (haha )after a very long time. Dennis is right- it’s more suspenseful and dark and better written than HP, but it’s just not the same. I just can’t feel as attached to Lyra as I am to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. But, it was a great read- very scientific, and I’m glad I finished it before this Potter mania takes over. I won’t really have time to start Phoenix until Monday, and only in between work, so I hope people don’t divulge what happens!!
Yay for a girly girl sleepover tomorrow night! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY TO MIMI!
| Due to the demand of Mimi (tu es un dork, oui oui), I’m updating…
Hope everyone’s summers are going well. Mine is busy… work is going well, I guess. So far, I’ve been reading up on gears and belts (boring!!) and running various tests on torque and force of different types of probes (lubed and unlubed… whoa) on different valves on this electrolyte testing machine… today I started building this motor driven bearing thingy thing… my supervisor George was like, yeah, just use a <big string of numbers> screw and <something something> wrench… I’m like, whhhhhaaaa?
Home is good, the weather is not… but I miss JHU! If I had the time or energy to reflect on the last year, I would, but… let’s just say the last year passed by so fast. So many good and bad memories squished into what seemed like only a few months.
Can’t wait for pillow fights in our underwear! Too bad half our suite is masculine…
liv6868 : i never knew you could be so.. manly. haha jk liv6868: that's ok odangobrains: HA HA HA odangobrains: so we DO have a single sex room odangobrains: liv6868: haha i get it liv6868: popular and asian odangobrains: yes liv6868: i guess because we are the guys, we can't also be the brains in the suite odangobrains: yeah odangobrains: a little oxymoronic... odangobrains: i see your point odangobrains: so odangobrains: hrm odangobrains: maybe we’re effeminate guys
Right now, I’m talking online w/ JHU people. YAY! And Mimi finally made it online. *gasp!*

HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAYS TO KEVIN (4*4), ASHLYN & JOSE (4*8) & MEEEE!!!! (TODAY!!)
(I started a xanga entry a week ago… but it was too long to post… so)
My mom called me from China at 10:30 p.m. to say happy birthday. Every year she always says the same thing, "I remember so clearly the day that you were born…" ~sigh~ I love my mommy!! So I was really officially 19 at 10:30 on April 5th. Hope 19 is a great year!
I got my calculus midterm back Friday, which was a big YAY! And then Judy and I tried to decide for an hour which skirts went with which shirts… it was cold outside, but we didn’t shave our legs for nothing!! Well, after all that fuss, I chickened out and we decided against it. Sudip was the only one who really dressed up. Pre, Dennis, Judy, Sudip and I took the bus into the Inner Harbor to make reservations for Cheesecake Factory (hey I remember my 18th bday at the Atrium, that was fun!!). We were pretty lucky with our wait… we got a huge table for 12 people. But while we waited, Pre and I bought pretty dresses!! And I saw Pre "indecent." I screamed so loudly that the sales people were like, "What the…" hehe. Ashlyn sat on gum while eating, so I had to take her to the bathroom… where we proceeded to occupy a stall and where I wiped her butt with an ice cube to get rid of the gum… Needless to say, it was quite a bonding experience for the girls! We are going to have pillow fights in our underwear with the fluffy pillows that have the feathers that come out!! Jk…. Well, maybe.
We got a tour of Bradford… so nice, if only! Four bedrooms and a kitchen and a living room!! JOPA made a list of rooming options for today… man, that housing thing took a long time. It took us 3 hours… the suspense! It was hard to wait in that crowded room and scan the screen for updates on which rooms were still available. But the good news: we got the room with a view (Beach side!!) 5th floor, and we will be next to Dennis, Sudip and Will! YAY!!!!! I’m so happy! So even when we won’t have classes next year, we will still see each other.
After housing, I studied physics, yech, and had belly dancing practice and physics review… the impending doom on that midterm… GAH!
~sigh~ I hate losing an hour on my birthday… darn daylight savings time! So like David said, I made Saturday lose an hour, and not Sunday. Hehe.
This is going to be one busy birthday! What can you do? Friday was fun though!

~sigh~ Is spring break over already?! What happened to the time? I don’t want to go back to the stress and work! I’m staring at my packed suitcase… this reminds me of when I was little, my dad used to pack his suitcase and leave for North Carolina, when my mother and I were living in Ithaca, NY. And I’d always listen to the Peter, Paul, and Mary version of "Jet Plane." It used to make me miss my dad a lot.
"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go, I'm standing here outside your door, I hate to wake you up to say good-bye. But the dawn is breaking, it's early morn, the taxi's waiting He's blowing his horn. Already I'm so lonesome I could die. So kiss me and smile for me, tell me that you'll wait for me, hold me like you'll never let me go. 'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again. Oh, babe, I hate to go."
Anyway, Friday, I made William watch Chamber of Secrets with me… it’s so scary! I’m so afraid of spiders and snakes! But Ron was so cute! "Haaaarrry? Can- can we panic now?" Suez picked me up and we drove to Honeywell Farms, South Natick, to see our middle school best friend, Tess. It brought back so many 8th grade memories! The three of us made this film documentary, OST Channel 1 News, on the year 1863, in 8th grade. We won the best film award! It was seriously so much work, and it was ten times better than anyone else’s (and that’s being modest!). I remember I had to play Abe Lincoln, and the marker beard they drew on my face wouldn’t come off, and I had to go around all day with black crap on my face… and we did a commercial on Lincoln hats and sang in it! We met Tess’s school friend Angie, too. Tess’s grandmother is still the same… "What’s your name again? What school do you go to? And what church to you go to in Natick?" she drawled in her very Southern accent. She didn’t ask me what church I went to, and I was very relieved. But honestly, what person asks as a third question what church you go to? As you all can tell, Tess and her family are all very religious. Suez drove us to Woodland, where we took the green line into Chinatown. We ate at this really nice, bamboo-ish Malaysian restaurant. The food was really good, especially the mango chicken. The bakeries all closed at 7 pm, go figure, except for one, where we bought yummy Chinese pastries. It was so incredibly cold that it hurt to breathe through my nose! I had to walk with my hands over my nose to breathe. I was really excited to go to the H&M at Downtown Crossing, but it closed at 8. What the F? On a Friday?! Tess and Angie left for church, and Suez and I took the red line into Harvard Square. My favorite store Bead Works (it supplies me with lots of my jewelry and beads and stuff) was closed too. Boo… we walked around, went into the Harvard Coop, and then took the T back to Woodland.
Funny thing on the T:
There was this ad poster for taking Kaplan prep for MCATs. There was this guy next to this gigantic 40, and it said, out of 45, this guy got a 12 on verbal, a 13 on math, and a 15 on science. I was reading it in my head, and Suez was too, and after five minutes, we were like, "12 + 13 + 15… that equals … uh, 40? That’s such a stupid poster, it takes too much effort to figure out his score! Stupid." And then five minutes after that, Suez was like, "Wait a minute, you see that big 40? That’s his score!" Popular and Asian…
Today I went to lunch with Mimi (she says thanks for the "hi" Andrew) and Suez at Applebee’s. We then proceeded to watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding… it was really funny and sweet! All during the movie, I was like, that Ian guy looks familiar… I didn’t realize until the credits that it was "Aidan" from Sex. I bet Dennis said it tons of times… oh well.
We had sushi tonight! Yum! And William, my dad and I did some last minute shopping. And now, I’m here. Time for bed… time to go back to Hopkins… and
