Painted Skin...

Dear Sir,

i've watched the movie Painted Skin this holiday, a "just-so-so" movie, a "gou xue de" love story, a disappointment.

ok, first an explanition to "gou xue"狗血， gou is dog, xue is blood, right, this is dog's blood, and it has a deep extended meaning----the love story follow old patten, and not change a little. Like a bad girl must be beautiful, the beautiful girl must love the handsome prince, but sorry the prince must love a kind girl, ok, at last, bad girl died and the two kind ones must have a happy ending.

this is what the movie Painted Skin about.

now let's come to the story, the story simpler than the movie, and do not have so much "ai hen jiu ge" (messy loves and hates)

once there's a man called Wang Sheng, wang is family name, while sheng is a call for man in ancient time, like Mr in english, zi in Chinese (laozi mengzi kongzi...)

One day when Wangsheng's walking back home, he found a girl lying on the street. the girl is beautiful. He saved that girl, and was told her parents were killed in a robbing.

Thinking this girl is too pitiful, wang sheng took her home, and took care of her.

Several days passed when he was out, he was stoped by a Taoist priest, the priest told him

Sir, i saw a dark cloud on ur face. Do u meet any strangers these days, u must met a Yao Guai!

Yao Guai? u're kidding!

Took this paper, sir, and hang it on your door, it can help u frighten away the Yao guai.

In doubtness, Wangsheng followed the priest and hang the paper on the door. He hide himself behind a tree, and decided to find out whether there was a Yao Guai.

Soon the girl he saved was back. when she saw the paper, her faced changed.

Who dare do this!

she shouted and used her Fashu (magic power) to move away the paper, then she walked into the door.

Wang sheng was greatly shocked, but he still followed the girl and looking at her outside the window.

To his big big surprise, when she walked into the room, she began to took off her clothes...the coat...the underwear...nothing wear....then....the skin!

from head to the foot, slowly and carefully, she took off her skin, like taking off a clothes, inside the skin, is a goast no flesh no bones. Then she began to painting on the skin, paint the big eyes....the high nose...a small mouth....a flowery face........

Wang sheng was so frightened that he ran quickyli to the priest for help. The priest is a man with big magic. He saw Wangsheng was a kind man, so he helped him and killed that yao guai.

Hu tou she wei(虎头蛇尾), tigers head and snake tail, i know this story have a big opening but short ending, just because when i type the scene of taking off skin....somewhat frighten and don't feel like typing.

sorry~but at least u know what painted skin is, right~

John Galt: The man who stopped the motor of this world....

KOLKATA: Months of uncertainty over the fate of the jinxed Nano project was broken finally on Friday, with Ratan Tata announcing a complete pullout from Singur, a mere 48 hours before the festival season starts off in West Bengal.

You could hear a pin drop when the announcement was made at the jam-packed Taj Bengal lobby. Hoping against hope, even the mediapersons believed, at some stage, that the fatal blow would not be struck and that somehow, the project could be salvaged.

But that was not to happen. Mr Tata declared that he was pulling out from Singur, not because of the West Bengal government’s attitude, but because of ‘Mamata Banerjee’ and her agitational ways.

One wonders whether ever in India, any political person has single-handedly caused a businessman of the stature of Mr Tata such exasperation, so as to force him to identify her as the sole cause for the pullout decision.

Businessmen are usually very sensitive about these things. Although it is still too early to say this, but Mr Tata’s direct assault could cause considerable damage to Ms Banerjee’s political ambitions. With the Lok Sabha elections pretty much around the corner, this direct accusation could go a long way in deciding the poll fortunes of the Trinamool Congress.

This is perhaps the first time in the last 31 years of Left Front rule that the state government was not held responsible for the flight of capital. On the contrary, chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s proactive, pro-industry moves were applauded by Mr Tata, who also asserted categorically that despite the decision to pull out from Singur, he still had abundant faith in the West Bengal government’s policies.

Coming from Mr Tata himself, this is very definitely vindication for the state government, which indeed had tried its level best to make the project happen.

Addressing a packed media gathering, Mr Tata said: “We continue to be very supportive of the vision of the government. But why we moved the Nano out of West Bengal, was because we have a timeline to meet, we have made promises to the public in terms of the project coming on line. We do not, however, believe that in any way we have lost our enthusiasm for investment in West Bengal and I can assure you that Tatas, in course of time, will include West Bengal in locating projects in future.”

“This is a lonely decision that we had to take with a great deal of sadness. We came here two years ago, attracted by the investor-friendly policy of the current government. We still have a great deal of respect for the leadership of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and all through the two years that we worked, we were very appreciative of the support the government gave us and the facilitation that they provided. Unfortunately we also faced great agitation and great aggression from opposition parties, which have, in fact, been the sole reason for us to take the decision to quit,” Mr Tata said.

Mr Tata said that the chief minister was very distressed.

“The meeting took a long time because he was very persuasive in his desire that we should not move and I had to explain to him that the well being of our employees and contractors happen to be my responsibility and that is something I cannot pass on to him....he disagreed with my decision to move out. He said we were making a wrong decision, but I hope we parted as friends and that he would trust us that we continue to look at West Bengal, even if the Nano project moved out from here,” Mr Tata said.

To a specific query on whether ‘competition’ had a role in the agitation that Ms Banerjee had led, Mr Tata said:
“At this point, I would not like to respond to that, except to say that it has made us wonder where some of the funds for the agitation and arrangements of the logistics had come from. And that has led us to wonder what may have, in fact, been behind this agitation.”

Asked whether Tata Motors would return the land in Singur, Mr Tata said: “The issue of land is something that we have to discuss with the state government over a period of time.”

Mr Tata, who stressed that he was pained to take the pullout decision said: “Two years ago, I once mentioned that if somebody puts a gun to my head, you either pull the trigger or you take the gun away. Because I have not moved my head. I think, Ms Banerjee has pulled the trigger.”

“How do we go in for production when we are told that agitation will continue. How do we continue when Ms Banerjee publicly states that the people of West Bengal have decided that they don’t want us? So all these things put together led us to believe that there is not going to be a sustainable congenial environment,” he said.

“I am extremely pained. I must tell you, I flew back from Germany, arriving in Delhi this morning, had a shower and came here. It is extremely painful to take this decision that shatters many dreams which many of us had. I am sure this is great disappointment to the people who worked on the project on the ground, much more than even for me. But there is also a feeling that we are doing the right thing because there is no other option,” he added.

India Lovers...

David Thompson and Pascale Sameli of The Art of Tea are two big India lovers, visiting and importing teas and what not from all over India. On 24th september night they invited the whole Indian contingent to their sister's wonderful house in suburban Melbourne on dinner to honour Tea Board Chairman Mr. Basudev Banerjee.

It was so heartening to drink tea in kulhars and have typical bengoli food there. What a regard to details when they produced assamese Gamcha.

Tea education...

Marilyn Shady and her husband teach Hospitality operations at William Angliss Institute of TAFE in Melbourne and were very keen to get associated with our tea education model in India and China.

Our first American student Sam Borst, will soon arrive to start his course and more will follow from Australia, South Africa and England.

Successful CII delegation...

While we did many things on this delegation, our tea meetings were most successful with CFNA in Beijing and Shanghai Tea Traders Association in Shanghai.

Met the new Commercial Councillor, Amit Kumar, in Indian Embassy in Beijing and on 19th had a very heart warming meeting with Xiao Juan alongwith Nickey, Tana, Hong & Fang. Everything seems to have been repaired.

Fine Foods, Melbourne...

From 22th to 25th September on the way back to India from China after the CII North Bengal business delegation, we participated in Fine Foods expo in Melbourne, which was an eye-opener for us. Great demand for indian black tea and for us supply of chinese teas is another added bonus.

Tea Board Chairman, Mr. Basudev Banerjee was leading the indian contingent of five Indian exporters consisting of Chamong, Girnar and us. Jennifer Howard, our Australian agent took time out to participate too. It was a wonderful moment when Sarita of Bayron Bay teas, who has been importing teas from us visited the Buyer Seller meet in Windson Hotel and we made new friends in Jessie Wong & her husband, who are selling teas under the Tea Culture name.

Zhong Qiu Jie...

I always wonder how time flies, 2 days later it will be "zhong qiu jie", as the word meaning goes, the middle of autumn, but the sun still shines the temperature still high, I still wear my skirt like in the summer time. How can i expect to welcome winter day after next half autumn day?

See, sir, time is so limited and he's so sly.

ok, some complaining, and then let's get down to our story

before the moon show, let's begin with the musclure sun. Man is always sperior and woman inferior in the ancient China, so of course this story begins with a man, a great hero, and the mightg sun.

once upon a time the world has 10 suns. The temperature is thus very very high, the air is thus very very hot. People's full of sweat and the vegetable can never grow. They are live under "shui shen huo re"(deep water and hot fire, means very cruel living condition)

There's a man called "Hou Yi", Hou Yi is a strong man good at shooting. He made up his mind to save his people from "shu shen huo re". He found the best

bow and best arrows, he climbed to the top pf highest mountain. He concentrate his mind, then

shooting!

9 sun was shut down by him, and there left only one sun, because people need sunshine and warmth. From then on, vegetable grows and people live in happiness.

People showed warm welcome and high respect to their great hero. Even the ruler of the immoral world, Huang mu (remember Niu lang and zhi nv? this is zhi nv's mother, queen of immoral world), showed his praise to Hou yi. As reward, she gave him a pill.

"sharing it with your wife", she said, "and death would never come, u two will live in the world forever."

in the human world, of course, Houyi was greatly honored, and have the marriage with the most beautiful girl at that time, Chang'e.

Chang e is beautiful, and she's proud of her beauty. But as time passes, she was more and more scared, what if i grow old? what if my beauty fade? what if our love do not last?

She heared of the pill from his husband, and a desire grasp her and urging her to eat that pill.

yes, eat it, and not only your life, but also your beauty will last forever.

So our tragedy begins. One night when hou yi is out, chang e found that pill and swallow it.

Then she feel she's lighter and ligher----she flies. Hou yi was back at that time, he shouted "chang e, chang e!" But chang e can not stop herself. She flies and flies, and landed on the moon.

The moon is cold and lonely. Chang e is here, her rabbit is there. Besids them, Wu gang is there, he's the first moon resident, punished by the emperor to cut the osmanthus tree on the moon. He cut, the tree grow the same, cut, grow the same----do the circle day and day, year and year, never end.

In the human world, chang e's story passed by, and zhong qiu comes out as a day for relatives getting together----Compared with beauty, life, being together with beloved ones is truly the most important.

Story's over, and somewhat sad in the typing~~~whatever, happy mid-autumn day, sir, do remember to share it with your beloved ones.

On 14th September 2008 we ninteen member CII delegation leave for Shanghai reaching there on 15th noon to visit various industrial clusters around Shanghai and Beijing before returning on 21st thru Kunming, under the leadership of Sri GS Hora, who is present Chairman of North Bengal chapter of CII.

End of the world...

The much hyped media coverage of nuclear physics tests were seemingly reflected around sun, where a rainbow type halo was created, which Vicky could film. Many people stayed indoors to be safe but it is night now and we are still alive.
