| A Weekend in DecemberIt seems as though nature knows that December has come. It has recognized the fact with the immediate arrival of COLD! On Thursday, November 30, it was 65 degrees and I was wearing short sleeves. The next day, as I went from dorm to car and car to house for our winter formal, I realized immediately how frigid it was!! Its quite crazy how it happened so suddenly, but now I am wearing scarves, coats, hats and gloves and I am still cold. To add to that joy, this morning at 4:50am, the fire alarm went off. Hooray! It was quite crazy. We all woke up confused thinking it was our alarms and grabbing random things to keep us warm. It took at least 20 minutes for them to let us back into our dorm and it sucked! After it was over, I went back to my room, brushed my teeth and went back to sleep for three more hours.
This weekend was incredibly good. On Friday night, we had the winter formal. It was hosted by our dorm, specifically Rachael and Kelly. It was held at an old Plantation house from the 1800’s, which was beautiful. It was located about an hour from LU, but it took us about 2 ½ hours to get there because we got lost in Bedford due to bad directions.
Saturday, mom and dad came up to celebrate my birthday (which is tomorrow.) We went to see the musical “Little Women†here on campus, then we went to have a DELICIOUS steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was super fun. Marcee called me before dinner and invited be to a concert and we finished dinner just in time. So, Chris, Ryan, Marcee and I went over to Lynchburg college where Brand New!!!! Was performing a 2 ½ hour show for $5! It was only for Lynchburg College, Liberty, Randolph-Macon and Sweet Briar. It was the most INSANE FUN concert I’ve ever been to in my life. Marcee broke her toe in the mosh pit (which was unavoidable, but fun) and we had a GREAT time.
Sunday, we had Christmas Communion Service at the Vines Center at 7…I was bummed because we sand ZERO Christmas songs. Then, Jay and Brock asked Marcee, Jenny and I to the movies where we saw School for Scoundrels, which was quite humerous. I don’t think I stopped laughing. Lol.
Fun Times!
Tomorrow is my last day of classes and then FINALS!!!! Crazy. I’ll be home next THURSDAY!!

| unhappy times.Last night as I watched the election results filter in, my heart began to sink and my stomach began to hurt. The house is now controlled by a large majority of democrats, the speaker of the house is a female democrat (3rd in line for the presidency) paving the way for the likes of hillary clinton, the senate majority is yet to be determined by a tight race between Jim Webb and George Allen here in Virginia, in North Carolina, Rusty Duke, who my mom was campaigning for, lost, as well as many other conservative judges and candidates, and worst of all, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has resigned. That last piece of news is so bad that I can hardly bear it. The good news is that the marriage ammendment passed in 6 of 7 states. Praise God for that. It failed in Arizona.
I am not only frustrated because of the results, but because of why these are the results. I am going to say something that will offend some of you, but I really don't care, because you need to do something about it if you fall in this category. I'm saying it only because I care so much. So many Christians have become apathetic to politics. Everytime I bring up the subject, there is someone who says that they aren't interested in politics, but you can't just say that and let it drop there. Politics isn't limited to Washington, D.C. and state capitols. We have to care. We have to be interested. The decisions that are made by the officials that we elect are affecting our everyday lives. The freedoms that we enjoy and boast about in America are being stripped away from us as I speak. And so many conservative Christians who COULD make a difference AREN'T making one. And it burns me up. Only 30% of the registered voters in Meklenburg County (where I'm from) showed up to vote. It is NOT that hard to take an hour or two out of one day of the freaking year and go and cast a vote for someone that actually cares about the things we care about. I am so passionate about this, I am hitting the keys on my computer so hard they are probably going to break. haha. But, I am so desperately serious. STOP BEING APATHETIC!! do something. Someone else isn't going to do it for you. YOUR vote makes a difference. Ok, I am going to stop now, but I mean it so much. I pray that this time next year, our voices will be heard loud and clear and that any lazy, apathetic, Christian gets their butts spanked by God.
P.S. This is hilarious. Our soldier's response to John Kerry's bashing.
